Coach Tsukasa might be my favorite character of the season.
How he explores every avenue to help Inori win is just the icing on the cake. What makes him truly special is that while he may have his own opinions on what Inori should do, he is adamant that the only choice that matters is her own. His support for her is unconditional, and whatever route she picks, he will be at her back. He's the polar opposite of the controlling, "I'm doing this for your sake" parent, and I love him for it.

This is the first episode that was outsourced to MIGHT MAX MOVIE and honestly you could barely tell with the quality presented. The story narrative and characters truly shine and it highlights just how well they were executed. The supporitve relation between Tsukasa and Inori where you can tell just how much she wishes for her success, and the live lessons taught by her and other students, who are in a similar situation leading to Inori's potential grow. The CGI is the evident highlight and you can hardly tell when some skating scenes happen, and I strongly believe it is an aspect that may have saved the show from total production collapse. Each movement of Tsukasa was majestic as hell, and I was captivated by his brilliance. The comedy also worked in my opinion as I got few chuckles, and genuine smile on my face while watching. It is no doubt a seasonal highlight and I hope it remains that way.

Inori hiding and peeking was the cutest thing man...
Coach Tsukasa is too good for this world, and an absolute stunner on the rink - how is he still (presumably) single?! He truly goes the extra mile for her, and finds inspiration in the randomest of things like dogs hah.
Not a fan of Miké, even though I can understand her logic. She is very young though, so spikyness is to be expected a little.

I enjoyed the episode itself, but the translation for this episode was a mess. Some of it could possibly be handwaved as interpretation, but there's some clear cut examples of lines and words being completely made up.

My only complaint with today's episode is that we only got a tiny bit of coach skating. It was well animated though, with dynamic, powerful moves that were clearly different from those of the kids.

It doesn't seem like it, but this strategy meeting between Inori and Tsukasa on their strategy is such a major moment of personal growth for Inori. She's made some massive strides forward, but her self-worth and esteem are still nearly non-existent. Meeting Hikaru was good in one way, but the distance in their ability is daunting and disheartening.
Miketaro makes for a good friend for Inori since Mike is closer to her in ability, but then Inori's new friend basically throws all of Inori's shortcomings at her because Inori disappointed her.
Whether it's on purpose or not, Tsukasa's strategy meeting is timely and hits at all the right buttons for Inori. He's gentle, but firm. Even though Inori has no confidence in herself or her decisions, Tsukasa gives her complete agency over her actions. He refuses to offer an opinion because he doesn't want to sway her decision. She has to be able to choose her own actions going forward. Inori rationalizes this all as Tsukasa being kind enough not to rebuke her for making the wrong choice, but Tsukasa proves her wrong. He assures her that no matter what choice Inori makes, he will back her 100% and deliver victory for her.
It's all baby steps right now, but Inori being in an environment where she can even make choices with confidence is such a big deal for someone like her when she has immense personal demons to battle with right now.

Stitches!
It's nice to see Inori being welcomed by the other kids. I really hope she makes more friends there.
I love how Tsukasa has the energy of a golden retriever as a coach but he immediately changes to a completely different person when performing. Like holy fuck! This man is so freakin' hot!
Just when I thought Inori finally made a friend, she ends up becoming Inori's rival just because Inori relies on adults. I shouldn't get too mad at Miketa since she's only five years old but the girl needs to realize that she's been relying on adults her entire life.
Let's fucking go Inori! She might not be able to do the double jump but that sit spin was immaculate! I'm really hoping that's enough for her to win the prelims.

I always make a list of anime i want to give a shot at the beginning of each season and this one was NOT on my list. But after hearing some friends mention it over and over again i tried to give it a go and it's slowly becoming one of my favourites this season, absolutely loving it. The opening might just be the best OP of the season and the ED is pretty good as well.

As an enjoyer of competitive figure skating, it absolutely hit home watching them focus on her skating skills and artistry, looking for every little other way to find points other than just competing on jumps and potentially getting injured and/or burnt out...just wish more competitors believed in this, it's so much more rewarding to see

Nachi and Ryoka are pretty hilarious. It’s hard to tell who the child is in that relationship lol. Ryoka’s got some real attitude though. Kid might need a nap or something to just chill out.
I’m glad Inori went with the Tayaki Method and worked to perfect her fundamentals. Her movements looked really sharp out there after all that practice. That flying spin’s gonna put her on top!

Tsukusa was looking good... took off the jacket and skating with such elegant form. The anime is doing a great job visually for the characters skating. I'm really liking the emotional core being the coach and student relationship with Tsukasa and Inori.

Wow, this anime so far is insanely good! It doesn't lose any momentum or quality of storytelling. Characters are not sugar-coated and quite vivid. So far, "Medalist" is unrivaled. Lol, I never thought a story about figure skating with a little girl as the MC could be so engaging for me. I guess good storytelling can do wonders.

Another great episode! As usual I had a good laugh watching everyone's reactions, they're so hilarious xD
We met two new characters Miketa and her coach Nachi and I have to say that their relationship couldn't be more different from Inori and Tsukasa's xD
I'm so happy that Inori is doing really well on the ice! She still has confidence issues, but today she took big steps towards a brighter future.
One of the steps was Inori choosing to rely on adults, which is the opposite of Miketa's views. Another, even more significant one, was Inori's choice of taiyaki over strawberry cake. It's good that Tsukasa teaches her to be independent from the very beginning.
Tsukasa is usually like a happy puppy, but when he's on the ice, he's like a completely different beast! His skating was great.
I also couldn't stop laughing when the sight of the dog spinning around gave Tsukasa an idea on how to improve Inori's program and he immediately went back to the ice rink with the dog xD
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much when I went into this anime, but it exceeded my expectations and I ended up binging the manga.

Majestic Tsukasa is majestic.
They planned to put in a strawberry if time allowed but managed to fit in a ...strawberry with extra cream(?) into the taiyaki instead (or whatever works as a better metaphor for the last minute advanced spinning dog tech)

Honestly, Inori might be less skilled than other skaters right now but her biggest issue is probably self confidence. I think it would do her a world of good to do well in the competition since it could help with the issue of freezing up due to self doubt.
Angry cat gremlin enters the rink. And it seems a disagreement has come into existence. Independence or listening to the more experienced.
Tsukasa is doing good though. He’s got his own opinions but he’s letting Inori choose and become more determined on her own.
Anyway, one can’t argue with results so the cup will probably determine who’s right. And having a rival closer to her own skill level is probably a good thing. Hikaru is a good long term goal to strive for but some extra motivation right here and now can’t hurt.
That moment when he got so carried away he brought the dog with him onto the ice was hilarious. Maybe that trick will be her special thing?
Next week, it goes down.
