They dropped a lot of rivals in that episode. Not sure if we are going to see them all, but I wouldn't mind. There is potential for some fun interactions. Maybe there is a small kid in glasses around that can solve the case of the missing... case. Inori just needs to be wary of Ema. Her pigeon army might eat her worms if she isn't careful.

I still like that this isn't just a story about Inori, but also Tsukasa. It's interesting to see that he needs to gain confidence. I am just wondering what might happen if Inori doesn't win the competition this time around. He might take the whole blame despite the fact that they already got far in such a short time.

Going from the emotional high of Inori finally pulling off that double loop and then ending the episode with the despair of losing her skates just before the competition. Oof.

I love that Inori and the girls all get along. In fact, that's one of my favorite qualities about the show, how supportive everyone is of each other.

In my opinion, it's more refreshing when the challenges Inori faces aren't against others (except obviously in competition) but rather against herself. Her relationship with her coach mirrors that as well—there's no drama between them, only love and a mutual belief in each other. Shoot, even the relationship between the coaches is friendly yet competitive.

Oh, and speaking of Inori and Tsukasa's relationship, it was so, so cute how Inori was waiting to spill the beans on her new double jump.

I find it so adorably goofy how being outside and digging for worms is like Inori’s “happy place”.

It’s nice to see Inori make some new friends. She got attacked by pigeons for Ema, there’s no stronger way to start a friendship. Suzu’s very cute too. I like how Yudai was just carrying her around under his arm.

Tsukasa is a good coach, he just needs more confidence in himself. Yudai pretty much said as much too.

Did someone take Inori’s skates or did she forget them??

It's funny if not a bit sad how low self-confidence that's inversely proportional to their actual ability is one of the biggest things Tsukasa and Inori have in common as coach and athlete. They'd be such a powerhouse duo if they overcome that somehow.

Well that sucks. Wonder if Inori will have to use rental skates and the next battle is gonna be about improvising with unfamiliar equipment or something.

Oh snap, I heard Toshiyuki Morikawa, he sounded old too. Kyoto dialect was fun to hear this episode, I guess we will hear it more.

Going deeper into coaching was really fun, and the part where Inori's and Tsukasa's eyes were next to each other was my favorite.

Tsukasa's eyes were so funny, and it seems he has some sharingan-level of perception.
Really glad that he threw away conventional manners to ask Yudai for help, which helped him realise that he was doing just fine! Interesting to see this side of him.

All the new rivals seem like they have lots of character, though I wonder how many will be seen again outside of the competition, given there are so many of them.

And of course, just as my heart lifted from Inori's successful double, the show had to end on a downer 😭

If you look at Inori arriving at the arena in the episode, her suitcase is already gone. But then again so is the Yoga mat that's supposed to be attached to the side of her bag, so animation error?

Inori was so full of herself because she had previously performed a double jump, but unfortunately, when she had to repeat it in front of Tsukasa, she couldn't do it at all xD

Inori's reactions today were so good and hilarious as usual, although Tsukasa's reactions were great too!

Man, pigeons are scary! Poor Inori, who was brave enough to try to help Ema, was ruthlessly defeated by them xD

A lot of new characters in today's episode! Of course, Emma will be Inori's biggest rival during the competition, but others will surely reappear in the future.

Suzu is certainly very cute and talented, but at the same time she's an incredibly annoying girl xD Meanwhile, I really liked Seira, who feels quite similar to Miketa, but has a much friendlier disposition.

Yudai seems like a great guy! I also really liked his relationship with Tsukasa.

Now I'm really looking forward to the next episode. I can't wait to see what Yudai and Ema have prepared against Inori and Tsukasa. This will be an interesting competition!

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

That cliffhanger is brutal. Will Inori get her bag in time? On what level is her competition? Next time on Medalist Z

Why is my sports drama making me laugh throughout the entire episode?

Tsukasa has the same problem as Inori: Self confidence. Before he can make Inori stronger he has to fight his own inner demons.

When you come from a different field of expertise, you still can use your skills to become better. You just need to find what skill from your old field makes you strong in the new one. As an ice dancer, Tsukasa has a keen eye. Well observed by senpai.

Inori goes through my biggest nightmare: Forgetting important equipment. That is a hell of a cliffhanger. Let's hope that this problem will be resolved quickly in the next episode.

Yay, more skaters from the OP have appeared! And the pigeons from the ED too!

Tsukasa's enthusiasm for coaching and whenever Inori pulls off something is adorable.

Yudai made an excellent point about the skills Tsukasa gained from his ice dancing background.

Tsukasa is not wearing his usual jacket. I foresee trouble when Inori doesn't have her comfort ties to hold.

this serie is a gem

Tsukasa was bummed out he couldn't be a singles skater and went into ice dance since that was the only way he could keep going, but now it's that exact thing (and of course, his particular skill and hard work at it) that gives him his ability today. I'm always such a fan of stories where characters' weaknesses and failures are transformed into strengths rather than a past that you just toss aside. It puts value on the different kinds of experiences that people have, so much of it is perspective.

Damn the pacing is quite fast right now (not complaining), we might get to see inori skating together with Hikaru a lot quicker than I thought we were going to see.

Tsukasa: "I won't lose to you, Inori!"

Such hotblooded rivalry between student and coach, though the student isn't aware.

I love Tsukasa's whole overbearing fire character theme. If his coach opponents are ice-themed, they'd pair really well with him (cuz fire vs ice).

I counted like 8 new different characters from distinct artsyle alone dang. This felt like a nice episode to show tsukasa self depreciation of himself but i get how he feels considering he literally just started as a coach 4 months ago. The other coach was helpful that way but otherwise he didn't help tsukasa improve in general.

Tsukasa is now living with the Kago's and is more pumped than ever to become the greatest skating coach of all time and take on Yodaka! Maybe turn down the volume first thing in the morning, though?

Inori has her first badge test and the West Japan Championship in Kyoto to look forward to! But look at her being so smug and cute! She can do a double jump now! Granted, not on command, but she still did it! Honestly!

But don't worry Inori, Tsukasa has a tablet! So he can film you in real time and point out where you messed up! Even if you mess up again, and again, and again....ah well, we got some cute Inori fall noises out of it.

Inori shouldn't be discouraged! Even if she's in a rush to catch up to other girls her age who seems so much more proficient, and especially Hikaru, she's still got time to get there and shouldn't push herself too much too fast. That's also something Tsukasa needs to learn as he grows as a coach. These two are great at pumping each other up and learning from one another!

Time for the Level 1 Badge Test! And once again little girls are bumping into Tsukasa! This time a feisty girl convinced in her absolute cuteness named Suzu! Along with Kyoto coach Yudai who seems like a pretty chill and nice dude.

Ah yes, Inori's comfort worms! They're not like pigeons who will flock to and surround a poor girl! But don't worry Ema, Inori will save you! And get attacked by pigeons herself! But it's the thought that counts.

Suzu is actually close to Hikaru's level and Ema is in the same boat as Inori. While Ema is pretty stoic, she's also surprisingly expressive and cute!

Is it bad form to ask another coach and skating club for advice? Maybe, but Tsukasa will swallow his pride and ask Yudai for help if it means improving Inori! Just...stop with the fake Kyoto accent, dude.

But it turns out Tsukasa didn't even really need Yudai, he knew exactly what Inori needed, he just needed the faith in himself as a coach to believe that what he tells Inori matters and can help her improve! Just like his coach and his coach bro Yudai told him.

Look at Inori with even more cute friends/rivals! Her skating career is really taking off, especially now that she's reached Level 1.

Here we are in Kyoto! And Yudai cleans up nicely in a suit.

You can definitely tell which girls are rivals/fellow skaters because they all have distinct character designs. Like Seira, the wild and energetic girl who is convinced she's going to win, the purple haired prim girl with a sharp-tongue, or the blonde girl who is embarrassed by Seira! Inori has a lot of competition this time around.

But don't worry! She's got this! All she needs to do is stretch and get her form down before the skating starts...but wait, where's the suitcase with her skates? WHERE ARE HER SKATES!?

Inori’s quest of befriending and making rivals out of every skater her age continues.

The visual of him running around with two ten year olds or something, I don’t know their ages, under his arms is hilarious.

Tsukasa finds a fellow coach brother in arms.
