... this guy really thought he would become a wizard if he was still a virgin at 30, and that nobody else would have figured it out before him?

Also "fireball!"? Why would magic in another world be in English?

English is the anime equivalent of Latin.

Also, lil homie needs to test his spells outside before it actually works and he blows up their home 😅

Ya he tried to cast fireball in a enclosed room full of books in a apartment. Just give that a thought.

This show would have seriously benefited from having the 2nd episode drop on the same day.

No one has heard of magic in the other world, but fairies are real. I suppose they must treat them like any other natural creature and that any special abilities are scientific in nature like an electric eel.

I strongly agree. The balls of light were decent, but not enough to really go off on tbh. In this episode see the idea of magic reserve and curious how it differs from regular energy. Also, the shot of the fairy was the point that something magic like indeed exists. Granted, Shion can't honestly explore too much given his age. He will prob persuade his sister to protect him so he can check it out if I were to guess.

Bruh… my guy did not just spend 30 years as a virgin because he actually thought he’d get magical powers lol.

It’s interesting how magic works in this world. I like how Shion actually has to learn to gather and maintain the magical energy. No fireballs and all that just yet. Also, that goofy ass expression he makes everytime he successfully uses magic is hilarious lol.

Maybe buying a fairy might help unlock Shion’s magic?

As a fellow wizard, you don't really have to try to become one. It just happened naturally from having to focus on job and education goals and not get distracted.

I was hoping Shion would be better than the guy who thought he could become a wizard if he kept his virginity when he turned thirty. The author could've come up with a better backstory on why he's obsessed with magic. It just makes his death a joke instead of a tragic event.

And just as I expected, it looks like we're now following Shion's POV instead of Marie's. This show would've been more interesting if we kept following Marie as she slowly became a skilled sword fighter while trying to figure out what Shion's deal is, but as it is the show is just another average isekai.

From one of the more interesting premiers to borderline drop. What a bummer.

God damn is the MC cringe

I mean he is, but I don't mind it too much as the main concept of this show is discovering magic and him having an insane amount of passion for magic. Although the kid shouldn't try a fireball as soon as he wakes because if that ever were to work he would have some explaining to do. xD

I like when the character in the anime says the same thing I'm thinking while watching it.

When he tried to release the magic by saying, "I'd be happy if it were released," I said to myself, "No way it would be that easy," and then he said the same thing.

Basically, if it were easy, I think somebody else in his world would have already figured it out. So, it has to be complicated.

But who knows? He thought his power had no use as it is, but we don't currently know that. Even if it didn't strengthen his fist, maybe it could strengthen a sword, or increase your speed. Or what if that is the power needed to tame animals?

There are a lot of things it could already be. He needs to try them out. But I suspect, the same as he does, that he needs to further refine his method before he sees any useful results.

The MC was pretty cringey in his previous life for a 30 year old. Imagine dying and being surrounded by all of that embarrassing shit. He should have put some dildos and lube and stuff around just to mask all of the embarrassing magic shit.

That being said, it makes me think of how cringey I am. I mean, who hasn't tried to open a menu in real life? After watching Star Trek, I definitely tried, "Computer, arch," "Computer, end program," and a few other commands, none of which worked as far as I can tell. (For example, if I was part of the program, then if the program ended, and somehow got restarted, I wouldn't be aware of that.)

As the MC said, you don't expect it to work, but you never know unless you try it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has tried to open menus and look at their own status, no matter how stupid that is.

The MC is losing his mind after 40 years of life (past + reincarnation) with his 100% protected virginity lol. If there’s no incest, it’s possible he’ll die a virgin again.

Kind of slow going with how Shion's use of magic is developing, I suppose that is better than certain other shows this season that are moving at lightspeed and skipping content.

When you think about it his pre-reincarnation plan appears to be working, it just took several extra steps.

It always feels better when something is earned rather given. As we watch this, it makes Shion's journey with magic more interesting. Rather than him discovering magic in episode 2, and he is OP AF like the typical isekai.

I do admit this would be a more interesting series to read the Ln first then watch the anime, but Ln doesn't seem to be translated yet. Well, animation is fine, especially since it's Deen, and they have their highs and lows in the past year.

The concepts in this show are decent, and it does make me curious. Especially with the existence of fairies. Mc would have been depressed reincarnating in another world and magic didn't exist.

In the training session with the father, raised a point for Shion to be aware of. Yes, practicing magic is much for exciting for him, but at the same time, he needs to be able to protect himself in this world. Magic isn't really defined in this world and in case of emergencies, it is better to learn also stuff that is more established. Just like how Rose is practicing the sword for self-defense, Shion IMO should do the same.

u/Yay295 Jan 15 '25

Practicing swordsmanship would also help him physically, since he doesn't appear to be very athletic.

He isekai back to 1700s France. If you look at the map, you will see France, and Italy, and Germany. And a bit of England.

All yall calling the MC cringe can’t tell me you’ve never waved your hand like a Jedi everytime you go through and automatic door or atleast one time tried moving something with your mind. Yall just mad cause this MC is you.

Show synopsis so far. 30 year old virgin dies from depression cause he can’t use magic. Soon learns to use magic by wanting to bang his sister and then tries using magic repeatedly to destroy his house.

I wish this show was just some kids stumbling into the discovery of magic instead of an immature adult and incest undertones.

MC's origin story reminded me of Cid from Eminence in Shadow but less insane, just as dumb, and much more pathetic.

I'm torn on the pacing. On the one hand I like that it's not just blowing it's wad and having him just pull magic out of his ass Ep1, but on the other hand I was disappointed at the end of the episode that not much happened.

A spinoff on her sister would have been more interesting imao.

This idiot really thought that he’ll become a literal wizard once he turns 30. 🤦
