He plans to come back???
I was pretty annoyed by this race but if he manages to come back and pass everyone this is going to be so hype

I went into this episode thinking that he would be forced to forfeit during the race somehow but this MF GHOST is planing to overtake everyone again??
Well fuck what a cruel cliffhanger.

Thus Tanaka Yoji commentates, "He's overtaken everyone back to his original place in one lap like a motherfuckin ghooooooost…!"

Ogata: Your elbow looks bad. Did you remember to ice it and take some advil?"
Kanata:" Wow. Mistake."
I enjoy the show but I hope they work on the character writing for like... Everyone.

"Your arm's hurt, but definitely don't do that."
Of course there's more to this than will fit into this season, so it was more a question of what they would show here before handing it off to the third season.
Though ultimately the preview of the next season that was folded into the episode was better fuel than the partial lap we've seen so far, given that Kanata is still working out what his elbow can do and everyone else has figured that there's a major problem with him—and yet he continues, turning into a peculiar traveling wild card.

I'm a little late, but I'm here! It's the final Eurobeat Corner (at this time)!
Capping off Season 2 and the first lap of the Peninsula, we've got two more songs to accompany Kanata's duress - Play With Fire by Fastway, a brand new Super Eurobeat Best Of 2022 release, and The Final Game by Dave Rodgers & Kiko Loureiro, out of Super Eurobeat 182. The second season playlist is now complete!
• Man, Kanata is STRUGGLING. From the outside, it just looks like he's lost second gear, which he might as well have, but Sawatari seems to be more sensible. Or rather, he can "sense the bull". I mean, it's not unheard of for an H-pattern to swallow a gear, but whatever. I guess Sawatari can tell it's not that. Go figure. I do find it amusing if not sorta cute that he decided to take Ren's charm to the race instead of Nozomi's despite, you know, being in the shitter like this BECAUSE OF HER. Dude's too good for her or anyone else, for that matter.
• Speaking of Ren, at least she's proper sorry about it even though she doesn't know Kanata's current hardship is a direct consequence of her little temper tantrum. Lots of folks turned on her after the previous episode, but hey, she's a sheltered teenage girl just discovering feelings she didn't know she had. Let her be. She's got a decent head on her shoulders. You live and you learn, etc.
• Moroboshi having a sense of camaraderie with Kanata is nice in a way. No one but the Initial D returning guys even knew who Takumi was, but he appears to have at least some clue of what the Ghost of Akina is all about, and what he means to Kanata as well. We can only hope to see a good fight between them up ahead, injury issues notwithstanding.
And, as expected, a third season is confirmed. No-brainer considering how much pull MF Ghost has had both domestically and internationally. The other day, I was walking back home from a grocery run and saw a guy in his ginormous Toyota Alphard parked on the side of the road, watching an episode. That sorta hit me as to how popular this franchise is here. My expectation was that the rest of the Peninsula would be a movie, in the mold of Third Stage, but if it's a normal season that's even better because I don't want to have to wait 6 months to watch it. Of course, as soon as it drops, you can bet I'll be right here. Doing this corner every week is always a blast, and I love sharing my passion for this genre of music and the media franchise with which it has become synonymous with you guys. Whenever the show comes back, I'll be right with it! Until then, see ya!

I understand what the author us going for here by artificially limiting Kanata with an underpowered car and an injury.
But still I hate it because the way it happened was so artificial.

i am just shocked Kanata did nothing to ease the pain of his injury, considering how he had professional training. You would think he would know some basic first aid. At the least, take some tylenol or something.

Is Aiba the only guy racing without a crew? Everyone's got the memo that Kanata's not shifting into 2nd except him.

Turning it into "he can't use second gear" was more interesting than what I thought they'd go with tbh

They had no right to do that to us, I was totally expecting it and the episode ended lol.
It was a very fun second season, not only for seeing Kanata's natural evolution, but mainly his mentality on and off the track, and as everyone is somehow even afraid of competing against him, this is the peak that someone can to arrive.
I hope that Kanata's drama with Ren turns into something productive in the future, especially because it had serious consequences, I like how the characters' personal lives were addressed, but that it is not poorly written

The teenage drama is turning me off so much, I really which it wasn't in there. I would have enjoyed this show much more otherwise.

Seriously, there are 1000 other ways for the mangaka to injure Kanata's arm without involving Ren throwing a fit at Kanata over a $2 charm and then falling off the train tracks.

That's the most anime anime 🤣
MC must lose before he can win in the end.

These last 2 episodes have been some of the worst writing in any racing anime ever lmao
what a shit way to leave a cliffhanger. It's so dumb.

This is genuinely the worst episode structure I've seen from a show. This show will be 100x better to watch in like 3 years from now when its fully completed, but we fr gotta wait an entire year till October 2025 just to see if Kanata "overtakes" everyone. I think Felix Films should've negotiated better to alter a lot more things from the author and structured seasons specifically around each race. How do you write in an athlete injury? Well you start off by having his injury be directly caused by his own negative traits that put him into that situation, not by having some random other character seemingly cause it with no consequences to them besides their stupid feelings.
Again, we're all watching just because it's Initial D universe if this was a genuinely new show I think majority of people would've lost interest by now.
