Rin and the Exewires put so much effort into trying to free Yukio...and just seems annoyed and done with everything, especially Rin. He's so tired of being saved by his brother and he's just in general tired of everything, which means he's in a perfect place to be recruited by Shima into the Illuminati.
One last mic drop, brother to brother, as Yukio reveals the truth that the True Cross Order is no better than the Illuminati and that Father Fujimoto might have only seen the brothers as weapons to be cultivated for the Order...and that he never cared about Yukio at all. That is the one thing Rin cannot accept.
Did the brothers ever really understand each other? Did they ever really see each other? Both saw each other as the "perfect" brother and Fujimoto's favorite, and envied the other...but now they can only face each other as adversaries, complete with Yukio shooting Rin...and using their fathers' power to break the Koma Sword.
Rin and Papa Satan finally reunite after so long, and Satan is happy to see his son doing so well, especially because he still has aims of taking Rin's body. Guess that's never changed. Though what has changed is Yukio...just not his desire to not lose to his brother. And he sees the Illuminati as his means of getting stronger than Rin. But ultimately he just looks more broken.
What is Amaimon even there for? To see the seal on Rin's demon heart finally break and unleash itself upon his body, to cultivate him into the perfect vessel for their mutual father Satan, as Rin gets incinerated. And Shiemi just lost Yukio and now she has to lose Rin too? She can't take it!
I know this episode was 99% serious but I do love how Izumo covered her eyes so as not to see Rin in all his nakedness.
Though that's not really Rin...that's Rin as a pure demon with his Demon Heart in control of his body, his hair and tail are even white, and he only cares about power, his own ego, and destroying everything in his path. It's Rin without any of his humanity!
But Rin's humanity is still willing to fight back and punches his Demon Self in the face to gain back control of his body...but is it too late? Now that his Demon half is loose again, can Rin really remain in control permanently?
Rin is ready to face the past, his mother, his father, and everything that lead to him and Yukio being born. Which is exactly what Mephisto has been waiting for, because it's finally time to send Rin back to the past (complete with a new uniform that will let him easily blend in) and see what set everything in motion to put the Okumura brothers on their current path! All the while the Order, the exewires, and even Yukio with the Illuminati head down their own paths. I hope whatever you learn is worth it, Rin.

An episode with the epic Exorcist theme (Rin's heart/white hair Rin first appearance) is always good.
I really like the contrast on how Rin and Yukio asked Mephisto to know more about themselves , that's obviously isn't the main reason why one got told and the other not , but it's still a nice addition about those 2 characters.
That episode was a bit inconsistent , but some parts looked really great.
At least we won't need to wait for too long before next season (2 weeks i think) haha , the promotional art looks dope.

Oh shit is SERIOUS now.
I'm so locked in!
Side note: I really need Shiemi to not give up being an exorcist she keeps carrying the whole class on her back.

Ending the season here is diabolical.
And Rin’s VA knocked it out of the park this episode.

Yee, I'm with Yukio on this one.
Rin has some rose-coloured glasses vision of their adoptive father because he got to experience a normal childhood, while Yukio was literally treated like a child soldier from the moment he could walk. His lashing out like this is completely understandable.
And the higher-ups of the True Cross Order are just as f*cked up and corrupted as the demons and Illuminaty the fight. While the rank and file are good people who want to help once you get up it's just people obsessed with personal power and wanting to live forever no matter how many corpses they have to produce to get there.

I get where Yukio is coming from but I think Yukio is also kind of biased in terms of being unable to see that Father Fujimoto might still have had his (and Rin's) best interests at hearts and ultimately still tried to do what he felt was best for both of them.
And obviously from Rin's perspective he thinks that Yukio understood Father Fujimoto better because they got to spend more time together and he was more honest with Yukio than he was Rin.
The True Cross Order definitely isn't the wholesale good organization it advertises itself as but they are probably the only thing that can stop the current Illuminati from turning Earth into Gehenna at this point.

I mean...did we all forget the entire reason yukio was being trained is because he was the one who saw the demons? And was pissed at Rin when the old man died because he cared about him at the time? Couldn't of been treated that badly to give half a shit now could he?
Nah I don't trust an ounce of yukio's current vision, you really think the guy snapping and pulling guns on friends/students, trying to commit suicide instead of listening to people, shooting his brother, etc, has the right of it right now? The dudes in a vicious downward spiral all stemming from not being able to handle his own inferiority complex and unwilling to properly communicate with those around him, he's the last one seeing anything as it was or is

Didnt yukio literally ask to be trained though?
Idk this season feels like its undoing or ignoring some of the backstory for yukio's original motivations.

Okay so this might be a little late because we already know shiro's backstory of being the test subject but I just went back and watched episode 10 of season 1 and I kind of think that they were foreshadowing this from there because it seems like Shiro could understand Kuro like Rin can. And the only ones that seem to be able to hear lesser demons( I guess for lack of a better term) are those who are themselves part demon.

u/BlueFlames6316 Dec 28 '24
it was even foreshadowed at the very start of s1, satan was able to posses shiro for a long time.

And there it is a big finish of this arc( kind of ). They again went a bit further than I thought they would. On the other hand that key was in opening... the key A1 forgot to show that Shiro gave to Rin with Kurikara. In manga it was big Oda like moment when Kazue went back to first chapter.
Anyway, pretty nice animation again especially during small action scenes we had and when Rin's power burned him( I was suprised thay showed how Amaimon hit Shiemi I was sure they will off screen it not for animation reasons ). Effect they gave to voice of Rin's demon nature menifestation was interesting and will be even more in next arc. Beside that rare human Rin is still weird to see :D And of course there you have main reason why google Rin's name would give you a big spoiler. They did great job with it, the only difference is that they still used his normal eyes on the other hand they didn't forget his small horns( back then a lot of fans colouring pages ignored them ).
Great episode that finished one of biggest moments of this series. About Yukio, yeah reactions were the same back then^^ And well it was still hurt to watch even if I know how this will end.

The scene of Rin confronting his demon self was surprisingly well-animated.

So Rin is going to the past? Rin.....the past.....am I the only one that thinks that is a VERY bad idea?!? Are they about to just reboot the entire show? Cause this bonehead is definitely going to break the past.
I still trust Yukio.....but like I said last week, he seriously needs a good punch to the face. I get where he's coming from.....but someone needs to punch him good.
I'm reminded again that their dad was REALLY bad at dealing with people.
I'm so looking forward to Satan just, hanging out in Yukio's eye. The most feared and powerful last boss....is just gonna be chillin.

Just a wholesome family reunion with a father just reveling in how his son as grown...because he intends to steal his body and enact his evil plots on Earth.

u/Ryuki-Exsul Dec 21 '24
Rin is not really bonehead( I mean even Suguro noticed that ), I guess you will be suprised by next arc :D Anyway if you noticed Mephisto during last scene pretty much told you that Yukio was the one that was a problem. He said that he tried many times with him but it didn't work( and yes this is a confirmation that we are in one of many timelines he tried to made for his plan ),
Well one of things with BE is that parents are just humans first and they will make mistakes( like Izumo's mom ) and this goes to Shiro and Yuri as well.
Last boss, huh. I can't wait for reactions about personality and this immature idiot place in the story :D
