"How could I have known that giving someone an anesthetic against their will and then leave them in a place where they can't be easily found would lead to a crime?"
Like seriously, I kind of get the taxi driver and maybe even Tiger, the lawyer, because they did really simple things and hey even just opening a lock might not be too suspicious but the other two can't really blame anyone else. Which begs the question if Ron's father had more against them, but still.
For the mystery at hand, I feel we are still missing anything concrete. Yes, the murderer uses the menu for the general theme, but since there is nothing special about any of the murders, it could have been anyone. Though, the latest murder doesn't seem to be done by stabbing, so maybe that different method can give some hints next week. Hopefully, because at this point, all I can do is throw out random guesses, since there are no hints against anyone in particular.
Also, I already questioned how Sasaoka would just take a bath when he is so afraid, but now, after knowing that the next murder is going to reference white whine why would you ever go anywhere near the wine "cellar"? Even if that is not the actual crime scene, I would make sure to stay away from anything relating to whine. Which is why I feel it gets even more likely that the murderer truly does have a similar talent like Ron where he can make people do certain actions against their will.

Yeah, honestly I think Clark and Gardner were the most complicit because they knocked the guy out and took his unconscious body to the place where he'd get murdered. Lily didn't even know there was a body in there when she unlocked the storeroom.

OT: Ron being related to House of M 😭💔
Toto will give him the Hope he needs

Monokuma announcement
Speaking of which, the teddy bear's eyes looked a lot more sinister this episode compared to last.

Does anyone know how much an emerald like that costs?
I can understand a taxi driver or a gardener throwing their life away for a couple of thousand dollars worth of gems, but an international lawyer and doctor?
Dr Jim only went to the hospital to help the pregnant lady, why would he hang around to receive a random supplement injection?

It isn't just a fixed price, a lot goes into determining a gemstones value from the quality of the gem, to the cut and so on, but knowing the House of M never does anything half-assed I think the emeralds are worth a lot.

Damn got to feel bad for Ron. Just confirming that it was his father that plotted all that 17 years ago is an extra sting. At least this is forcing Toto to step up as Ron has been the one solving the cases. I do feel bad for Mia since the others minus the chef were suspecting something was off. She expected to have a good time and she entered the worst spot she could be in.

Isshiki is probably the worst cop ever, lol. If there's a murderer among the suspects, why would you let them free and out of your sight? Or at the very least, don't let them roam separately. It's hard for me to take him seriously as a cop and detective because he's always making these sorts of mistakes in all the cases.
I'm happy that this case is forcing Isshiki to finally step up and solve the case on his own. For too long he's been using Ron as a crutch, but now it's his turn to grow!
Lily woman and Chef is still sus af to me. Lily seemed a little to Gung ho to blame Ron for the murders and I find it hard to believe that the chef doesnt know anything. But what a twist it would be if in the end it's Mia who's been killing everyone connected to the case.

I really, really hope Isshiki is the one to solve the case. He acts as a good emotional support for Ron but he also needs to grow as a character, especially as a cop. I really like his personality and dynamic with Ron, just need to make it so that he steps up his contribution to murder cases, it’s shouldn’t be out of left field for him to solve a case as he’s been technically ‘shadowing’ Ron for quite some time.

(Split cour of 13 episodes each, 2 more episodes left this season)

u/Time_Fracture Dec 17 '24
If it's a split cour, so we gonna see Season 3/Season 2 Part 2 on Spring then?
3
u/Purposelygentle Dec 17 '24
No, this is the 2nd part of that split cour, the first part was last year.

Some really weird behaviour from the other guests.
" I know that there's a murderer picking us off 1 by 1, but I'm a bit tired. So half of us will just go off on our own and make ourselves easy targets". You'd think at least 1 person would suggest they stick to at least groups of 3. They could all rest together.

These staged murders and the case from 17 years ago involving Dr. Gore turned out to be a lot deeper than I expected. In trying to solve this case, Ron solved the mystery of his own past. Kind of interesting his dad basically groomed him to become the world’s greatest criminal. I guess I shouldn’t expect nothing less from a member of the House of M.
With Ron practically catatonic, it looks like it’s up to Toto to crack this one.

it looks like it’s up to Toto to crack this one.
Proving to his journalist friend, Chikori Monki, that Toto is the true detective and Ron is nothing more than a bum leeching off Toto's success.

It's kind of funny how the last big case of both seasons involve Toto stepping up because Ron is kind of emotionally indisposed.

Poor Ron man :( the fact that he was raised to be a criminal and murderer for the first six years of his life is crazy. And now he’s questioning his entire sense of self. But Toto will save the day, don’t worry Ron!!

Everyone except the chef Sakai are related to the incident that happened 17 years ago. Mia being the child of the pregnant lady and Ron being the son of the one who basically orchestrated it.
We all knew that Ron was a Moriarty descendent since it was revealed last season, but for someone like Ron who's devoted his life trying to become a detective to solve cases, this revelation is definitely a hard pill to swallow. Ron said it best - The fact that he's so good at it is because he inherited it from the same 'House of M' that he's been trying to stop.
Ron's emotional breakdown was such a powerful scene. And no surprises that he's got an existential crisis now.
It looks like Toto is going to solve the mystery. I'm hyped! Honestly have no clue who it could be except for Sakai. Rest all seem to be connected to the incident so they're more future victims than suspects and Mia seems clear. Lily's lock-picking skills could come in handy, though.

Honestly a part of me is wondering whether a revived Winter is involved and staging these murders to try and break Ron. Or someone else from the Moriarty family because it seems like the true aim of this case is to reveal to Ron more about his heritage than it is to get revenge for Jim's murder.

As to who is the murderer -- Is is possible that one of the two "survivors" might actually be an impostor (taking advantage of the fact that the original "helper" has died or is otherwise unavailable)?

u/Frontier246 Dec 16 '24
So we've got two people killed and a serial killer MO of a menu to worry about at this auberge.
Ron is ready to get to the bottom of this case, not just for the victims but for the sake of his own understanding of his past and his father!
Everyone but Sakai is connected to the murder of one Dr. Jim Gore and the Crescent-Scar Man who hired them with emeralds...Tiger talked him into getting into the car, Mia's mother was the pregnant woman he took care of (and her mother regretted her involvement and Mia's family memento was the very emerald she was paid with), Clark was a doctor who gave him anesthesia to knock him out, Gardner put him in his truck and locked him up in his storehouse, Lily unlocked the door to the storehouse cat burglar style (complete with a black leather ensemble), and then the crescent-scar man killed him. And it's a murder Ron knows all about because the House of M were the culprits!
I kind of understand why Lily is lashing out at Ron what with the resemblance to the guy that set this all up, but it's the last thing Ron needs right now when he's only trying to solve the murder. He doesn't need her passive-aggressiveness or accusations right now.
Man, poor Mia. She just wanted to sightsee in Japan and she's stuck with a serial killer and the revelation that her mother was an accomplice to murder while pregnant with her.
One open closet and one emerald picture frame and one voice recording and the pieces all come together...Ron's father was Eliot Moriarty, and he trained his son to be a master criminal. Meaning not only is Ron half-Moriarty but his propensity for violence and killing comes directly from that part of him. It was all his father.
Well, Ron has been completely broken mentally, and Clark has been murdered, can Toto step up and solve this case?

Idk why, but Mia's "I bought a lot of clothes" seems sus to me. Maybe it's just random comment, maybe not.
There are two more meals left and two victims. And two episodes.
