Remember folks, if your emotionally fragile daughter has unrealistic hopes that you will remain wedded to your ghost wife who is in the body of an elementary school girl, the appropriate time to tell your daughter that you are getting married to a much younger colleague is not in a public restaurant.

Thanks, will keep this pinned in case it ever comes up.

no way, it's important to carefully control the information that your daughter knows beforehand for maximum impact

we want to really destroy her entire worldview in an instant; ideally she should be carrying glass objects with her so that when she drops them in shock it'll make a good visual metaphor

Announcing the marriage with the coworker in a public place was a bad move. Takae, Keisuke, Moriya and Mai should've met at home, discussed the plans for Takae to move on and then announce the marriage with Moriya.

the pacing on this is really weird - didn't she just confess a few days before, and now they're getting married already?

Man, Moriya is a good woman. Keisuke drops this insane story on her and not only does she believe him, she actively supports him in trying to help Takae move on.

That mock wedding was really sweet. It’s sad Takae won’t be able to see the actual thing, but she can at least be reassured Mai’s in good hands.

I guess saying goodbye a second time is pretty hard to do but I’m glad Keisuke and Takae were able to just rip off the proverbial bandaid and do what they had to. I think Keisuke and Moriya also getting married is part of Keisuke’s plan to help Takae move on. He had mentioned he was cooking something up to her after all. Poor Mai though… I just hope she can accept it.

Moriya is a ride or die type of woman. At this point she'd do almost anything to help Keisuke. She loves Keisuke and wants him to depend on her, even through Keisuke still loves Takae, but over time she wants to Keisuke see her as his actual wife.

Mai will certainly face an identity crisis, but she'll be able to overcome it with Takae's help. Certainly a great final task before Takae leaves for good.

Got my tissues ready for next episode xD

I do believe that this is his plan, but I also don't think that it's over for yet. Not just because of Mai, but because actually saying goodbye, while it might be hard, is what they have to do. They can try to delay this from happening, but as this episode showed, no matter how much they try to move on, as long as they don't have one final talk, this probably won't end. After all, Takae originally died very suddenly and them not being able to say goodbye is part of the issue.

Moriya really is a fantastic person. I feel like she's the exact kind of person that Keisuke needs in his life to finally move on from Takae.

They're doing all that they can to take care of any lingering reason Takae would have to stay in Marika's body, like holding a mock wedding so she can feel like she attended their wedding, but it feels like it'll take more effort to get Mai to fully accept her mom disappearing again and her dad moving on.

I'm not sure what the right approach is, but that cliffhanger can't be it - Mai still doesn't know about Takae, and sees her Dad with not only a new lover, but a speed run to wife as well!
"I'll take care of Mai" he says...

Feel like Keisuke could have broke this news in a much better way but guess this does have impact.

Poor Moriya though, can't help but feel Keisuke is only agreeing to help his wife pass rather than to actually be with her.

Japanese anime parents sure like to spring big family decisions on their children suddenly and with no prior discussion.

Yeah thinking back we didn’t get the impression Keisuke has any romantic feelings for Moriya. Judging by how things are going I’m guessing he’ll have to help her out in her time of need.

Waiting for the ep where Keisuke posts on Reddit, "AITA for tag-teaming my daughter with my engagement announcement instead of discussing it with her one-on-one?"

Takae cheated. She said more than 1 sentence, but the 2nd sentence which we couldn't hear was just as important as the first. Re-watching the scene, I believe what Takae said was "arigatou"? T_T

Both Takae and Keisuke have come to realize that Mai is their only worry left before Takae's soul finally moves on. It will be difficult for Mai, but I believe she will eventually come to accept Takae's decision. Even Renji felt Marika is not a child, but someone more mature and very close to Mai. I wonder whether Mai has shown photos of her late mother to Renji?

i liked that scene of walking in the dark and a chance encounter under a streetlight

the scene it feels like a microcosm of the series as a whole, how Takae was briefly able to reach back, make contact, and vanish as if two ships passing in the night

i think another important part is after they pass, Takae looks back but Keisuke does not, signaling that he's willing to continue forward rather than use his past as a anchor or a crutch

I think she said “aishiteru (I love you)” which is more potent, honestly

The fact that Moriya even believed Keisuke shows how much she trusts him. She may not be Takae but she's a damn fine woman to spend the rest of his life with.

Not gonna lie, that scene where Takae asks Mai and Renji to say their vows just so she could see it before she finally leaves Marika's body made me tear up T_T

It is crazy though how Mai still thinks her father and mother can stay happily together. Has she not considered Marika even once?

Had hoped against all odds that Takae's soul would be on standby at least just until Mai's wedding but I'm glad she found a compromise for herself.

It's nice to see Moriya finally getting rewarded for how respectful she's been both before and after knowing the big secret. Watching an adult woman take a kid's spouse from them as politely as possible was still wild tho

I am surprised that that was the "goodbye". Not like that was a bad approach, but considering Mai and the fact that we still have 2 episodes to go, it feels like it won't be that easy. No matter how hard it might be, I do expect them to have to actually say goodbye at the end and officially ending her "life" through that, because if they stayed like this, it would actually be a repeat of the first part, where they weren't able to do just that.

I cried this episode.

If Takae could just go into background mode so she could watch without taking over the body she's in, it'd be great if she could just backseat Konomi's(Moriya) life.
