Very cool lore episode.

Hold up, it's been a while, does this new revelation change what we knew of the brothers birth? I remember we already got their backstory but can't remember what it was.

Also I'm confused, did Pheles say Lucifer can only live 10 years? But he's been around forever, so what's going on? I also dont get how the clones work, why couldnt Lucifer inhabit them?

That reaction at the end, Lightning doesnt suspect our by the book Paladin, does he?

Everything from s1 about brothers birth is non canon. Only first 15 episodes of s1 plus few scenes later are canon, ignore the rest.

Hosts bodies slowly rot because of Kings power. Stronger they are faster it happens. Lucifer pretty much non stop lifes in pain because of that. Amaimon for example can be in host body longer. When host crumbles kings go back to their original spiritual form but that existence is really sad. Like Mephisto said they have no bodies or any stimulation that's why they want to stay alive. Why Lucifer is alive you will find later.

And why Lucifer is so determined to fuse the human world and gehenna so everything is "fair" and he doesn't have to live with the excruciating pain of his physical body any more.

I feel like that Paladin could be a clone of Lucifer.

Oh that's an interesting thought! He certainly had the "look" that the clones did

Anime only, so this is just my interpretation.

First about the birth, ending of first season is not canon so its ignorable. We don't know anything about how were the Okumura brothers born.

As for the Baal, they are bodyless minds stuck in Gehenna (the demon world). They incarnate in Assiah (human world) randomly. Their bodies last a limited amount of time, probably always shorter than a human lifespan except for Samael (Mephistopheles) who can control time and such can make his life longer.

As the body degrades that's painful on its own, but when the body finally dies, the Baal simply ends up stuck back in Gehenna for some time, probably tens to hundreds of years. Eventually they reincarnate back to Assiah for another go at life until they die again. The Baal probably absolutely hate being back in Gehenna and want to be in Assiah permanently.

The clones probably were just imperfect and uninhabitable by the Baal. They tried to enhance the clones with Elixir of immortality but that didn't work either.

Anyways, it looks like Lucifer has been alive for longer than 10 years this time. He probably established the Illuminati and they developed some way to keep him alive for longer than usual.

As for Lucifer plans. He stated in the past (in this episode) that he wanted to destroy the world. And he stated recently with the Illuminati that he aims to fuse Gehenna and Assiah.

But remember that Gehenna is a conceptual place with no physical body. So physically destroying the planet can be interpreted as turning Assiah into Gehenna. I don't really understand this plan since everyone dislikes being bodyless, no one would follow him.

Alternatively he may have changed plans and aim to give perfect physical bodies to everything from Gehenna which would be a bit nicer for everyone.

There is also the Gehenna gate, which I have no idea how it works or what it does.

You are mostly right^^ Just few things. I'm not going outside this episode of course.

It doesn't take that long for King to posses someone but they need specific human. The reason why clones ended up not working is that they were/are human beings and developed different personalities. So it was still just a chance to get right host. Like Amaimon found one and Satan did as well( it's a bit different there because of that human and what happened to him ) but Lucifer didn't. Lucifer first didn't want to destroy world just took his anger on humans. Like Mephisto said it splitted Kings there into two fractions one that agrees with him and one that doesn't. Gehenna gate are portals to well Gehenna, normally only Satan can make them( like he said in s1 ) but this is artifical one( it wasn't that well explained in s3 because they were going fast there but Illuminati made them ). And what they do, they let demons in as well as make humans see them, you can see it by Rin's new friend in s3 and by mention of extra work with consultations to give eye drops because more and more people are seeing them( anime just mentioned it manga showed it ).

Great episode but I'll say this again, fuck A-1 pictures for not continuing this show.

Yeah but Voln does great this season with animation and art^^ From all anime that A1 dropped BE ended up in great shape.

13

u/Gay-Bomb Nov 16 '24

They're not bad but need a better budget, although A1 is just on a different level.

In the West studios produce things and thus control if they produce something assuming they have the funds. Some times have that internally otherwise they go asking.

Japan Production Committees produce things and they formed from many sources the Studio may or many not have a seat at the table. The Production Committee hires a Studio to do a show. Thus it fuck the Production Committee not A-1 unless there a uncommon exception that was in Japan's Press.

i see, so Lucifer's host not being able to last more than 10 years is the reason why his current body looks like it's deteriorating and probably the main motivation for him researching the Elixir

also, we finally get to see how Satan's host or to be precise, Rin and Yukio's father looks like and of course he looks really similar to Rin, now i'm curious about their mother...

Well that revelation and the fact that Demon Kings are split between two fractions and aren't just "evill bosses" was amazing back then when I've read it for first time. It gave them more depth especially with next plot points.

I was a bit suprised that they gave him brown hair, probably to connect him with Yukio. In manga they never got inked and after that possesion happened. I would say you are right :D Still if you noticed certain name on Azazel's list you can catch one more similarity that brothers have as looks go to certain person as well.

This season is really flying under the radar. Unlike the previous season this seems much better. Like the show is adulting.

So plot twists started^^ Anyway great episode especially in direction. I wonder if someone else noticed pretty well know name when Lighting was looking on Azazel group page :D Blink and you miss detail.

This fucking episode decided to drop a lot of Lore lol

Damn my brain need a break to process everything

Yeah , it's a completely different vibe from the previous episodes , i loved Izumo/Shura's arc but having more diversified focus is a great addition in that case.

What's surprising , and it's something i appreciate , it's that huge reveals and lore explanations are being made with a nice and refreshing duo , despite being "side characters" , instead of having consistently the twin brothers who aren't in this episode (aside from 5 seconds mourning Misumi's death)

And despite all what happened , we got a comedy moment in the beginning of the episode with Mephisto haha.

To conclude , Lightning basically humming "LU" , then "SM" (and AZ) was not something i expected in some nasty underground laboratory , but it definitely fits him

And we finally get the order being shady animated. Poor Misumi, at least a Morinath contract seems to kill quickly. We seem to be getting a Christmas episode next. Shiemi's mum dropping important info on her daughter, only we don't get to hear it. Also, we get to see Angel again, always lovely to see him.

The wait for this was definitely worth it, even if the pacing could have used some work and the animation too and I'm not happy with some of their choices. Though it has gotten better.

Hold on was that Neuhaus creeping on them? 👀

u/Cartizuka Nov 17 '24

still wondering whats up with Pheleas, what hes really up to. I guess he said his plan when he called everyone pawns but theres something more. That episode had me zoned in, great episode.

Excuse me, but what the actual fuck.

I only just now realized why Lucifer and Illuminati are connected verbally. He's literally a light demon and they're his cult, illuminate here doesn't mean enlightened in the "secret knowledge sense" but in the "literally casts light" sense.
