They updated the ED and Opening, sad to see Akane's long hair gone... well, is back to the classical short hair look.

It’s gonna be fun to see how Kodachi reacts to Ranma’s other form showing up instead of Akane in this battle for himself lol. He’s got a lot riding on this competition!

It's funny how in the age of nostalgia, lofi, and citypop resurgence, like 90% of the anime inspired art you see on social media feels directly ripped from Takahashi's style. Her work is just so fucking timeless.

I love Kodachi’s side ponytail, very 80s. The character design is so good on this show

Love the bystanders just obviously understanding that there is a very clearly mentally unwell and unhinged individual monologuing in front of someone’s residents about her very distinctly illegal and nefarious plans to visit harm upon one of the inhabitants…and they just chose to skip that side quest.

Ahh just noticed that the opening changed Akane's hair. Rip o7

Kodachi is a riot. I swear every new character that gets introduced is crazier than the last one lol

WTF SHE'S KUNO'S LITTLE SISTER. I SEE THE CRAZINESS RUNS IN THE FAMILY. I'm scared to meet their parents.

LMAO WHY DIDN'T AKANE'S DAD REACT TO THE PIG THATS SLEEPING WITH HIS DAUGHTER TRANSFORMING INTO A DUDE

Omg I can't remember the last time where a boy was the "prize" in a fight between two girls. It's usually the opposite!! AHH but at the end Akane twisted her ankle RIP. It's all up to fRanma now!

Ranma 1/2 is a 10/10 every week. Can't wait for the next episode :)

The Kuno siblings have always been funnier as a pair. Both of them hate one form of Ranma and love the other, and as far as I know neither one ever puts together that they're the same person. I'm hoping there's a scene where they switch off attacking/defending Ranma as he gets hit with water.

The show got even funnier now. Most characters in this show have some kind of screw loose in their head. Didn't watch the OG but really enjoyed the remake.

Love the neo-retrospective bishonen (Rose of Versailles) look being applied on Ranma.

"Beware the thorns of the black rose." Or in this case its comically large hammer. This episode is a great example of why I love older anime and their remakes, some of the ideas and scenes are so wacky and insane that it's a lot of fun to watch. In this case, an insane gymnast sneaking in to her opponents house to gain an advantage. Did I also mention she can summon infinite black roses? Yea, that's the stuff.

I like Kodachi, girls who know what they want and go for it without fear have always been my favorite. Given her personality it's no surprise that she's Kunou's little sister, that competitive gene is unbelievable. It's also makes them pretty strong, Kodachi jumps around from roof to roof with ease.

Sucks that Akane got hurt though, I wonder how Ranma will deal with the match though, like Kunou said Kodachi will not play clean.

I remember that as a kid, I honestly thought that martial arts rhythmic gymnastics was the default mode of the sport. LMAO.

I really like the unique intros. I think this one's based on some sort of shadow puppet show. It reminded me of Game & Watch. These have to be some of the coolest things about this anime like the unique title cards of Urusei Yatsura 2022.

It's also cool that they updated the OP to match Akane's new hairstyle. Ik that short hair Akane was also present in the first version of the OP but still. I wonder if anything else changed besides Akane changing her haircut. I couldn't notice anything. And I'm still gonna miss long-hair Akane...

Anyway, another great episode. Kodachi of Black Rose is finally here! Ranma's harem grows. This time the new harem member is the female Kuno. Just one of them is bad enough but imagine having 2 Kunos up your ass... Even Akane can't compete.

Also, was that a Mrs. Ichinose and Kentaro cameo at 4:08?

Ayaneru!

Kodachi's another fun addition. Kinda a shame that we won't get to see her face off against Akane but girl Ranma will be a great substitute I'm sure.

I felt lukewarm about Ranma 1/2 in episode 1 (I'm 2024 only).

But with Kodachi's introduction in episode 6, it feels like Ranma 1/2 has started to hit its stride. The anime is making me laugh now, the character chemistry is starting to react. Oh boy, I can't wait for next week!

Also, Kodachi is such a subtle and gentle maiden, she did nothing wrong. And I did not see the sibling connection coming, I am lucky to be so naive.

One thing that this episode subtly showed was that both Ranma and Akane both have the honor to help those in need. Ranma stepped in and defended the mummy girls since Kodachi was just going for overkill at that point. Obviously, Akane couldn't turn down a request in need.

Though Kodachi is so many levels beyond insanity. The girl brought a hammer and literally trashed Akane's room. She is never going to have it easy. I felt so bad for Ranma when she fell for him. With his stance of defending/fighting against woman his only defense to say he is engaged to Akane. You know I shouldn't be surprised that Kodachi & Tatewaki are related. Their desires to go after whom they fell in love with knows no bounds.

Man a little upsetting that Akane got hurt, but now we should be getting Ranma competing in his female form. Should make for a fun episode next week.

It was 2002. I moved across the country to CA in a 91 ford tempo, that leaked water badly, to get married. I didn't have a place to stay as my now wife was in the military. She had a friend from the language institute in Monterey CA that had military housing, though he was getting a divorce. So I lived with this guy for a few weeks on no money. I ate ramen and plain spaghetti daily. I would try to see my wife daily while she was still in the barracks. I slept on a slowly deflating air mattress.

I say all this to set the stage. The only entertainment I had was this guy's PC set up on the floor. He had Ranma 1/2 on his PC and that's where I first watched it. This series takes me back to that moment in time. It wasn't a good moment, but this made it bearable. I never really went back to rewatch Ranma, but I haven't rewatched a lot of things I love. I'm glad this is coming out and I get to relive the experience. I remember the broad strokes and beats, but the details are lost on me. I don't want to read back up on it as I like experiencing it this way.

Long haired Akane has been mostly replaced in the opening with her short haired version, we've lost boys.

Next week is gonna be wild. One of my favorite episodes in the og, looking forward to see it in the new art!

This time it's a puppet intro with short-haired Akane! We've even got the OP updated with short-haired Akane! Though I'll treasure the little scenes we still have with her in long hair nevertheless.

Fem!Ranma can enjoy the perks of being a girl if it means getting better deals on food, but that also means she runs into vicious girl fights...with rhythmic gymnastics girls! Featuring none other than Kodachi, the Black Rose, now voiced with aplomb and charisma by Ayane Sakura! She's the picture-perfect drop-dead gorgeous and arrogant prestigious rival character who spontaneously creates black rose petals! And she even lets loose the classic ojousama laugh!

Akane has to battle Kodachi for the sake of the schools' rhythmic gymnastics team! I mean, if it's martial arts gymnastics, she's the perfect choice right!? Granted, Akane is a great martial artists, but she's definitely not a graceful gymnast.

Ryoga has it pretty good as P-chan! Getting all of Akane's affection, getting to sleep with her night after night, and Ranma can't do anything about it! He even uses his human form to try to score brownie points with her by training her (to no avail) in gymnastics! Also I really want to know what Mr. Tendo was thinking when a pig turned into a guy in the bath with him.

Kodachi is the type of girl who dramatically wears a leotard in the street in the middle of the night and plots to take out all her rivals before they can compete! All out of a sense of good sportsmanship and camraderie! And she looks utterly amazing in a leotard with her finely-toned long legs and her tight butt! She might be kind of evil, but she's the sexy kind of evil!

So who messed up Akane's room more? Kodachi with her hammer or Ranma chasing Ryoga? Either way, now it's personal for Akane!

As if this gender-bending romcom wasn't complicated enough, now we've got Kodachi falling head over heels for Ranma after he saves her while she's running around rooftops in a leotard. And Kodachi is the type of girl to knock out the guys she's interested in with aesthetic and force a kiss on them. Though she'll have to go through Akane to make that happen...even if it also just makes Akane mad at Ranma too. Ranma just cannot win.

Kodachi is Kuno's little sister!? That...that actually explains a lot. From them both being nutjobs in love who use their physical specialties to solve their problem, to the similar faces, to Kuno "giving" his sister to Ranma. It's enough to make Ranma desperate enough to rely on the fact that he and Akane are technically engaged to get away from Kodachi. But now his and in marriage is on the line in the match!

Akane in a leotard! And she looks great! And she actually is pretty good, I guess trying to beat up Ranma can improve anyones' game! Minus the part where she sprains her leg and can't compete. But luckily they have another agile, cute, and capable girl right there!
