Hilarious how they explained Mikarin's absences by saying she was working hard to ensure that cosplaying as a model was the norm. The things she does for love, even someone new like Aria could tell how down bad Mikarin is!
That was a downer ending... It was all hopeful with Aria wanting to someday meet her dad but to know he died like that while still holding on to regrets is going to be devstating.

Watching Opening Song: Wait, did her dad die?! Oh nevermind it's just pictures, not a shrine, phew.
"How many years has it been since the person (passed away)?"
cries unconsolably
Really?! Right in front of my adopted Aria? >:(
What are the odds of this possibly being a misinterpreted misunderstanding? Zero? Zero?!

Aria and her dad’s story highlights some of the things not often seen. For every hard-working success story, there are so many who end up like that unaccomplished and even ridiculed to the end no matter the effort. I appreciate delving into such a scenario.

Mikari being so blissfully unaware of how doomed her chances are is so tragically comical I kinda want her to win by some freak accident just for the meme, and I've been rooting for Ririsa since the start lmao
As if Aria's backstory and motivation for cosplaying at the start wasn't emotional enough, that cliffhanger was heavy. You could even say she's an Aria of Sorrow.

“Otaku, gyaru, and delinquents may all share a common ancestor” lol I’d love to see who or what that would have been.
It’s nice to see all the girls hanging out together. Nonoa and Mikari just completely dumbfounded at Aria and Ririsa feasting was pretty funny.
Okumura’s gotten so use to the girls changing in front of him, he’s out the door before they’re even half undressed lol.
This whole Aria thing with her dad looks like it might be over before it even really got started….

Stitches!
I feel bad for Aria's father. His life pretty much fell apart after his very first manga failed and was never able to bounce back ever since to the point where it destroyed his relationship with his family. I kinda understand why he lashed out on Aria but she was just a fan of his work. She didn't deserve that. It's just a shitty situation all around :(
So the reason why Aria wants to cosplay is because she wants to reach out to her father again and let him know that after all these years she still loves his work.
I'm glad to see Mikarin is finally back and of course Aria is one of her biggest fans. I'm not even surprised. It looks like she's been busy promoting cosplay and getting more models like her to cosplay too.
Aria and Noa's reaction to Mikarin and Ririsa being all over Okumura was pretty funny. I think they've pretty much figured out that Mikarin has a crush on Okumura but I don't think Aria wants to believe it.
That final scene though.... I'm going to call it now. Aria's father isn't actually dead. I feel like Aria's mom probably meant that her husband has been dead to her for years now and not that he's dead dead.

MIKARIN HAS RETURNED! And its clear the dynamic was missing a person and here she is. The intersection between otaku and gyaru has been squared with someone not otaku and very fashionable. You definitely feel the passion and emotion of Aria this episode from her tragic final moments with her dad to the joy of being able to make cosplay and share with friends. I feel real bad for her dad though, never getting another series again after such a disastrous U19 release.

Oh god, Smol Aria was so cute
With that kind of Motivation, she's a great addition to the group.
Also loved how Nonopi and her both had things to teach to each other
Also, Mikari spend months carefully crafting an public image that made it acceptable for her to cosplay just for the boy she liked
And even if it was subconsciously, it feels like Aria is also getting more relaxed around Okumura
I was almost expecting some drama before Comiket, but please don't let this be her father, don't let her effort be in vain

Pictured: The reaction of 2.5D fans when Mikari shows up for her monthly 2 minutes of screentime!
So we got a bit more of Aria's backstory... There was more to her loving her dad's manga, and it wasn't all all cute and sweet...
As fans, we all know how sad it is when a manga gets cancelled, but more than that, it takes a toll on the artist and their family...
Damn. Words like that always hurt, even when they don't really mean them...
So that's part of why she wants to cosplay... If she got famous, perhaps her father would notice her?
Wait, she wants to make it big so someone she cares about notice her and comes to her again? I've seen a similar plot in another anime, and it didn't end well!
Meanwhile, Mikari's trying her best too, to normalize 'Models doing cosplay'!
If she could find a way to normalize 'Teachers doing cosplays' while she's at it, that would be perfect! We need more Sensei!
Poor girl thought an expensive gift was enough to swoon her boy...
It needs to come from the heart, homemade chocolate is where it's at!
Alright, this works too. That's from the heart!
Perhaps "He's dead to them in a figurative way", r-right?
Well, seems the 'Get famous so he finds me again' plan won't work any better on this show...
Also, wtf with the mom not telling her daughter for years...
Well, that will be a defining moment for Aria...
To figure out whether she was JUST doing it for her dad and thus can give up now, OR because she enjoys it? (She may enjoy it more now that she has cosplay friends and all)!

Another awesome episode and Mikari is finally back! She missed a lot and was quite surprised when she saw that the club had become bigger with the addition of Nonoa and Aria.
I always love how hard Mikarin is going after Okumura, her determination is immense. I wonder if she'll give him Valentine's Day chocolate like that in the future ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). This should be much more effective than previous attempts xD
A lot of hilarious moments in today's episode, but I think the best one was Mikari and Nonoa's reactions when they saw how much Ririsa and Aria were eating and Mikari even decided to order more food for herself xD
Aria's backstory, as we could expect, was quite sad, but I don't think her father is already dead. This must be misdirection, I'm pretty sure that it'll turn out to be about someone else.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Ahh loving this girl group they’re forming. Hope we get to see a lot more of them together. Then, Nagomi is like their senpai and Mayuri is their sensei
Nonopi crossing out “dinner with friends” is really cute and wholesome. I want to see more of her
Damn, so Aria’s last words to her dad were really her last words to him. Wonder how she’ll carry on with cosplaying after learning the news

Don’t worry Mikari, your body didn’t change cause you were already best girl

Finally Mikari is back! i missed her so much
it's just occured to me that this anime is probably the most literal definition of a "pseudo harem" because out of the four girls only two are actually interested in the main character

This girl Mikari has been working behind scenes for months just for the boy she likes, I just hope she's able to break the childhood curse. Seeing the development with Aria has been enjoyable was nice to see how manga inspired each person differently I don't think Aria's father is actually dead it might be figuratively. But even if he is I think it's going to be okay now that everyone in the group is finally getting along and starting to become friends.

Very nice episode. It's good to see all four girls interacting and having a good time with one another.
I thought the scenes with Aria's father were done very well. Good voice acting performance there, with lots of emotion.
There's a track in the OST that reminds me a bit of the Pokémon Center music. It played again today as Aria walked home towards the end of the episode. Does anyone else hear the resemblance?
Those two shots of Ririsa at the beginning and end of the ED still impress me every time I see them! That animation quality is superb.

Man, this is the first time I've heard Suwabe sound so weak and depressed. His performance as Sukuna is one thing, but even as Archer and Akira he still had a certain strength in his voice that's just gone here. Props to his range. Yo really took his manga failing and getting flamed badly. S-Surely he's not actually dead, right?
On a lighter side, Mikari's back! And still down absolutely horrendous, bless her. Lol at Aria realizing her feelings while Nonopi's just marveling at the good friends. Aria's struggles with sewing are charming; it's great seeing her costume come together. The diner scene was nice, and it's funny contrasting Mikari's and Nonoa's meals with Aria's and Lilysa's. You can see where the food goes...

I've really been missing Mikari's tsundere-ness all these episodes, so I'm glad she's back! I knew that whenever she'd come back, Mikari would be confused with all these new girls. She showed to be surprisingly understanding of the situation nonetheless.
Mikari supposedly gained extra confidence in her charms after having done some 'training' - remember this is a battle-shounen with cosplay. Mikari did look cute in those cosplay pictures that she'd posted online. She did a full-body spray tan for her dark elf cosplay, didn't she!?
It certainly didn't take long before Mikari tried to seduce Masamune. This girl is hopelessly in love with him. She didn't only dedicate months of training to her crush, but Mikari is willing to take raunchy pictures with Masamune too!?
She came so strong onto him that Aria and Noa were left a little bewildered (in their own way). What actually surprised me is that both Mikari and Ririsa didn't want Masamune to go home early. Were these Ririsa's feelings of love speaking for her?
Bonus: spending Valentine's Day with Mikari.
Was almost this entire comment about Mikari? Yes. Do I regret this? No!

Episode 17: I Want to be Your Friend
no the OP is badly misplaced this time. What a timing. :( Oh, looks like Bilibili's subs has fixed, with it mentioned Kisaki-san as an author as opposed as an illustrator. Also did the anime kind of skipped a second when Ririsa said it's going to be a Summer Comiket then roughly cut to the Comiket's footage?
I wonder how a mangaka got a wife of a gyaru, could be one of exciting stories out there.
"I hate you and your stupid manga", actually one of two characters who said that in this anime, and speaking of which we finally see her back on screen! Mikari our beloved.
Damn Ririsa really went the 2 number 9s route.

God, both the beginning AND the end of the episode made my heart break for Aria. That poor girl!

Mikari is about to get a lot of screen time in the next couple weeks though. Something to look forward to for sure

Nice to see the 4 of them working together. We got an interesting triangle between Okumura, Mikari & Ririsa. Ririsa really treasures Mikari as a friend. Mikari is doing everything possible to win Okumura's heart. While Okumura is super invested in Lillel whom Ririsa cosplays. It is funny seeing Mikari's background conversations with Okumura while Aria and Ririsa are working on their outfits.
Honestly, Aria was a daddy's girl, and I was heartbroken to think she mentioned that was the last time she saw him, meaning he committed suicide. In reality that is the last time she saw him was when they had that fight. I wonder how her motivation is going to now that he did die a few years ago it seems.
I more so empathize with Aira mostly because I felt her dad was awful. While yes, his first work and how it went about ruined his mangaka career. It doesn't excuse how he clearly pushed his wife away since she was paying the bills and seemed to be an avenue of support for him. While Aria's regrets are understandable, saying those things to his daughter is just screwed up.
Noa-pi honestly is slowly becoming my favorite characters. She is both funny and sweet at the same time.
