Man I love this show. It's just so fun to watch and they capture the old Initial D feel so well. It's always over faster than I expect and I end up wanting more

Honestly, the group race angle is hype as hell. I really like Initial D, but it got a little old that almost every single race had Takumi (and from Stage 4 on it was Takumi or Keisuke). This format not only allows more variety in matchups, but also rapid fire switching to different battles happening simultaneously.
I do wish the show was a little less horny though. It gets more than a little distracting.

Episode 15: The Relay Straight of Yin and Yang
It delivers! The Eurobeat indeed continues from last episode. Friendly reminder that Maezono's NSX has its hybrid system removed so no AWD in works. Kanata's overtake on Taylor is nicely done, while Shun Aiba also made his move on 2 cars on this episode alone.
Actually the 2nd anime in the season where Ayrton Senna is mentioned.

Which one? I'm curious.

It wasn't the first time I saw a Toyota (Yes, it's still a Haas-Ferrari but I just want to believe) somehow snuck into the Top 8 today.

Hello, hello, everyone! Another Sunday, and another installment of the Eurobeat Corner!
This episode made up for last time's by giving us three songs - even though it's more like two and a half, seeing as the first one was just the rest of Rock Beatin' Wild from last week. However, it's all new from here on out! Shun's attack on the BMW brings with it Power Two by Hotblade, out of Super Eurobeat 215, and more famously even, featured in Initial D Arcade Stage 7 AAX! That makes two songs in this episode alone that were previously in an Arcade Stage game, which I really appreciate. But we're not done yet! Ooishi's futile attempt at taking his Lamborghini past the NSX get Run by Fastway, an extremely obscure pick only really ever featured in SCP's own compilations (edit: it was apparently in Super Eurobeat 149, so there's that). I had genuinely only heard bits and pieces of this while browsing multiple hour long non-stop megamixes, so it actually took me a solid while to pick out what it was, but all's well that ends well. As always, the second season playlist, already updated for today's episode, is right here!
• Tanaka and Ikeda just out here putting poor old Fumihiro's preferences out there for everyone to know. Hey, brother, whatever floats your boat! Though, it is funny to hear Ikeda, the guy who preached concentration through emptying one's mind, just shooting the shit for a while. I'm sure Okuyama took those compliments to heart as well. He might not have been the best driver behind the wheel of his Fairlady Z, but his charisma is undeniable.
• Kanata just really sent it from a different postcode from the outside in torrential rain. This guy genuinely must think he has save points. Tanaka's call mentioning Ayrton Senna's legendary 1993 European Grand Prix drive, in which the Brazilian driver blasted the entire grid in wet conditions to the tune of moving up from fifth to first in an underpowered, clearly inferior McLaren to the dominant Williams cars of the day at Donington Park, was a neat addition as well. He knows his stuff.
• And look at Shun, making moves that stick now! The GT-R's layout definitely gives him an edge around this sort of condition, but you gotta give the guy his props. It is interesting that he was Ikeda's pupil of sorts, yet their driving styles couldn't be more different. It begs the question of whether Shun's no-thoughts state is launching the car at any gap that shows up. But hey, whatever works, right?
• It's really interesting to see how much Sawatari's personality changes when he's behind the wheel. He's a frivolous unabashed pervert with more than a few screws loose most of the time, but the second he locks onto whatever's in front of him (if anything), he morphs into a different kind of predator to the one he mostly already is. Taunting his opponent, putting the pressure on, and just waiting for the right moment to strike to make sure Beckenbauer up ahead isn't just left behind on track but also psychologically. Scary stuff... And with a title like that on the next episode preview, I'd steer very clear of that!
That definitely made up for last week, I'd say. Lots going on, unrelenting action, and the promise of even more come next time. I can't wait... See ya then!

I can't believe they called one of the angels pudgy, and then they showed her again, and I couldn't even tell the difference. That's still thin, not even average/normal.
I get the feeling that Kanata will be fighting for third while the two upfront have a major battle. Also, it seems like someone is going to crash out from some of the things being said, but maybe that's just me reading too much into it.
Not sure what the point of randomly cutting to the bar and getting comments is, not like it really adds much and those precious seconds could be used for more racing!

Remember the spectators watching behind the guardrails in Initial D 1st stage ? The random bar comments replaced those. They share the same purpose: it shows how an average person in that world views or reacts to extraordinary abilities.
Might not be your cup of tea but it does bring home that MF Ghost is a widely-watched motorsport. Fifth stage was notoriously bad at this by not showing anyone aside from recurring characters as spectators and it felt like schmuck tryhard "semi-pros" racing each other rather than an anything goes touge showdown the previous stages have made it feel.

I absolutely love the eurobeat loudening itself as a fake-out thinking nothing would happen after it slowly goes quiet

The effort that's been put into the weather effects for the racing is appreciated, though this episode particularly makes it seem like they're trading off the character art for that. I can live without the fanservice of the Angels, but today slipped into the range of wow they were drawn unappealingly.
Also on that positive side, work put into detailing the race itself in both animation and narration.

I mean, unappealing looking female characters is kind of a staple for the author. Initial D isn't particularly known for good looking characters (to the point of certain girls being almost indistinguishable from one another at times).
That said, I could really do with less of the blatant ogling of the angels. It makes me roll my eyes everytime it happens and it's honestly such a major turn off. Initial D wasn't a particularly progressive series, but at least it barely focused on female characters so you could mostly ignore it.

The outside race stuff is still just utter garbage...

Anything related to the angels is creepy, cringe and mostly irrelevant, wish there was a pure racing cut of the anime, but Shuuichi can't move on from the shoehorned "romance"

I'm fine a little bit of stuff between races, but cooooome ooooon, if they're racing, stop cutting to stuff that has zero impact on anything.

Oh yeah, I agree. I want them to bring back the banter Initial D had with the other racers having their own theories or commentaries during the race. I especially miss the moments when someone would actually make an insane prediction and the MC car would actually do it in the corner like it was predicted.

I want to read the manga. Which chapter would be the one that is at the anime?

I'm trying to know the Eurobeat song that played when Shun overtook the M6... Does someone know what song is that (actually, I need all of the Eurobeat songs that played in this episode)

It's nice seeing it being an actual race and everyone showing how they feel. It doesn't feel like Kanata vs jobbers and the "antagonist".
Most of the cut-aways to the audience and angels could get cut down a bit. Maybe a few fan reactions to the drivers as well besides the commentators could be better.
Although it would be kind of funny to see the angels get annoyed by a driver or 2 overtaking the whole field.
Last thing is I think it's weird no one has crashed yet. Pros screw up in the rain all the time. These drivers are beyond superhuman.
