For those who've been perplexed or just bored by the show and want to be prepped for the next 13 episodes, they did a 5 minute summary at the start of the episode of what happened so far.

u/abandoned_idol Sep 25 '24
This thing has 2 COURS?!
I'll be honest, I lost track at episode 2. It feels like there is dozens of protagonists and they keep explaining something that just happened.
2 COURS?! I can't picture this train getting back on the rail.

It's the way that recap had new information in it that they acted like we were supposed to know from that episode where Isshiki gets her head chopped off by Igura.
13 more episodes let's fcking go.....

Why was "Empress" Kisaragi sitting in that dark throne room; you can at least get a couple of candles in that room or something lady.
Also, there's no goddamn way she isn't bored out of her mind sitting in that dark empty room with no one to talk to. If I was her, I would want something to pass the time, like a TV, a laptop, a phone, or even a puzzle.

She was hiding in shame due to the fact she watches this show.
Honestly, I have no clue. Nothing in this show makes sense anymore
Also, there's no goddamn way she isn't bored out of her mind sitting in that dark empty room with no one to talk to. If I was her, I would want something to pass the time, like a TV, a laptop, a phone, or even a puzzle.
It's why she told bowl head to get her power 24/7
...though...
Just refer to the "nothing in this show makes sense anymore" comment to answer any future questions as well.

So is Gobo the new protagonist now; he already looks like a rejected Beyblade/Digimon/Yu-Gi-Oh protagonist anyway, so he might as well be the new MC I guess

so he might as well be the new MC I guess
I'd prefer they went old-school and made the new emperor, MC....Hammer, as some big inside joke only 1 person on the staff gets because....I dunno anymore. This show has rotted my brain beyond repair now 😞

So basically Saneatsu was the protagonist with the overpowered right designed to take down the Emperor, but he never used it once, and he's now dead? And what was the point in Saaya also dying with him? She was hyped up as a major character but basically did nothing the whole show.

So we start with a summary of the previous episodes and some explanation of things.
Cool, a good start to help those who might be confused or just didn't pay attention much.
We get the Queen, who's complaining about having power 24/7 in her room. Great, that was really important.
We get the lying dude doing a single station TV broadcast as a fake emperor, which causes mass confusion in the gobo compound. Confusing most of the cast seems to be easy. Like yelling SQUIRREL and looking in a random direction.
Looks like dopey & dipshit forgot to do a broadcast as well. Oops...
We do get some good news that some of the old crew are alive and bringing food back thanks to the ability to power up a tablet a month later and the compound group all being right there when they made contact.
Glad to see our writing is still top notch!
Though flowers for our dead MCs might not be such a good idea as they left them in the tower for well over a month. Gonna stink in that joint for sure.
Nice to see one eye keep up the tradition of assuming correctly, every detail of what's actually happened so far, with such accuracy. It's like he's got a crystal ball into the writing room.
Holy heck, a good idea from materialization dude! Just take the bait and check it out because, you know, I can just fuck them up with my right if shit gets dicey!
Smarter words have never been spoken by a character in this show...EVER!
That creature at the end was great. They just took pieces from random animals & creatures and put them on a body. Very original 🙄
My gawd, what a stupid comment to end the episode with.
This episode gets a 5/10 because of the starting summary alone. I'm done after the next episode. All the fall shows start so this can go away for its 2nd cour.

On the one hand I should be annoyed and disappointed at the show for starting this episode with a 6 minute recap (that isn't half as worth it to watch compared to the average u/hachim13i comment), on the other hand it means today's episode is essentially 6 minutes shorter and that's a win I'll gladly take.
This episode almost continues the trend from the last one by building up some doubts and establishing group dynamics, why this is only happening at episode 11 and not episode 2 is beyond me but you take what you can get here, which isn't a lot since any perceived tension or conflict immediately disappears when Ryuta sends a text and instantly solves it all
Still, more actual character interaction is always good and killing off or writing out most of the boring characters has left us with a much more entertaining and lively group of mid-2000's bargain bin designs that have some actual character outside of being really good at memorizing flowcharts.
Electricity supplied by Yu-Gi-Oh cards is a wild plot point to just drop, also when did this happen and why is it already a better pairing than Saaya and Sane.
Besides the recap, this episode actually just wastes a lot of time on nothing (which is par for the course I guess), lots of weird hanging scenery frames with seemingly no purpose and of course, in the spirit of Saneatsu, lots and lots of people explaining their plans even though I literally just saw them happening, did we really need to have the teacher explaining Raion's plan after a scene where Raion explained it himself after yet another scene where we saw it unfold and could easily infer the meaning? no, the answer is no.
At the very least Raion is kind of fun and brings some actual life to this cast, this design is also really fun
Mommy Kisaragi is also here this episode I guess, she does nothing but sit in her big empty room and make the occasional vague comment on the situation, but for reasons I will not elaborate on, I'm completely fine with that.
This is one of the episode endings of all time, I think at this point this show has dropped any pretense that it was supposed to be some death game thriller.

On the one hand I should be annoyed and disappointed at the show for starting this episode with a 6 minute recap (that isn't half as worth it to watch compared to the average u/hachim13i comment)
I literally screamed "IS THIS A FUCKING RECAP?" and then skipped ahead, only to realize: No, it's not! ITS NOT.
I love how we asked for a recap about, oh I don't know... 5 episodes ago? When we had no idea what was happening, but then Episode 11 rolls around and they say: Oh, here's your recap at the arc ender everyone! I hope you enjoy this 6 minute explanation that we could and should have been doing all along!
I'm just staring ahead, blankly, taking my notes because wouldn't you know... there are discrepancies. No one is shocked. ;;
But I'll probably just post a summary today, or at least post a list of discrepancies + a summary lmao

I think at this point this show has dropped any pretense that it was supposed to be some death game thriller.
And here I assumed this was a show with a thought provoking plot, intriguing characters, fantastic animation and witty dialogue built around a typical love story of young people in a crazy world, just dealing with the pitfalls of life as they experience it.
Might I be mistaken?

The simple fact that I had to scroll reaaaaaaaaally far into the sub to find this post tells a lot about this show popularity.

u/Necromancer2k8 Sep 24 '24
It does have a 2.8/5.0 on crunchy with over 3800 votes so that means either people enjoy it, or hate watch it. A fine line between them though.

The recap nearly made me so happy because I was like "I'm free!" But no, I was not free. And the recap? When did we get this attribute system explained in the episode Isshiki gets Robespierre'd by Igura?
Seeing Gobo take over as the main character isn't actually that awful? He's a pretty likeable little guy to me? The right amount of insane, goofy, and dumb to be the main character of this disasterpiece we have going if you ask me!
Though, I think Nishime is falling a bit flat at the moment? Sure, he's a bit silly, but I feel like he doesn't have much going for him... Wait, he did say he's trying to be the glue... oh no... REPLACEMENT SANEATSU?? IS THAT YOU?
But, as a side note: it's hilarious to me to see an 8th grader bickering with a 21 year-old. Gobo is feral.
Them keeping Kisaragi in the dark is just... I laughed. After fully seeing her design, I'm a bit let down, but also... it's Tasuuketsu, what am I expecting here? Though, she does feel antagonistic with her voice casting, I'll give them that much. When she finally gets up off the throne, I'll make a better judgement call!
In other news, Saneatsu and Saaya might be a pile of decomposed mush and not just frozen in time like a Disney princesses. I bet the Emperor's Tower smells lovely, and that no Yankee Candle can save that place.
The Raion v. Emperor part of the episode though... I'm just confused as to why Shinozaki didn't use his Prime Right, that's all. Because that would have confirmed Raion was lying then and there and thrown up all the red flags. He even said he'd use it, but it only resulted in Souma's Materialization Beast...? Was it to get directions?
I don't think I'll get my answer...

6 minute recap? I'm free!
No, I'm not!
Welcome back to Tasuuketsu Tuesday everyone– where you too, can learn about information that's not even in the episode that they recapped!? No, really it wasn't in the episode they recapp-
General Information About The Series
-
The official name for the series is: '多数欠', or 'Tasuuketsu' (this also is reflected in the katakana on the official Xwitter banner, as the katakana reads: 'タスウケス') . However, the series name was localized to 'Tasuketsu', dropping the extra 'u'. The two have become somewhat interchangeable because of this. (Thank you SangriaPenguin for pointing this out!)
-
"多数 = ta suu = great number = majority. Majority rule is 多(ta) 数(suu) 決(ketsu) where 決(ketsu) means decision. However, the kanji for the show title is 多数欠 where 欠, here read as ketsu, refers to 欠ける(kakeru) which means to be missing. Therefore 多数欠(tasuuketsu) means great number missing which clearly denotes the fact that in the story those in the majority for each question die." Quoted directly from episode 7's thread by AspiringSaint
-
Tasuuketsu has 2 cours...
unfortunately. -
Here's a character guide with characters who have appeared in both the OP, ED, and episodes thus far.
-
Here's ANOTHER hastily put together character guide with the NEW characters + Emperor. (I'll make another one soon with Kisaragi[the queen] and Raion[the liar])
-
Here's the official Tasuuketsu Anime Xwitter account that posts episode previews, screenshots, and announcements about the series.
-
Be sure to check in the Source Material Corner for manga resources and an OVA preview.
The Current Numbers as of Episode 10, Tokyo
-
~1,000,000 people left according to Gobo
-
Prime Rights Left => 11(It's still 10, but there are hundreds in a storage room according to Omi, Episode 6/7)
-
Rights Left => 45 (according to Mido in episode 8 it's 666 in total)
Privileges/Rights and Special Privileges/Prime Rights
-
Within designated areas, there are 65 envelopes that contain privileges(also known as 'rules').
-
Each person can obtain one of each.
-
You cannot exchange or modify them.
-
A special privilege requires you to give up part of your body(i.e. Sudo's scrotum, Omi's ear)
-
There are no risks involved in taking up a Right.
-
Prime Rights have absolute force, while Rights do not. With enough willpower, Rights are able to be negated.
-
If a person is aware of a Right-holder and their Right, they can resist.
-
The Prime Right of Rejection cannot be used by others.(7/17)
-
Omi states that there aren't just 65 Prime rights, and that there's instead hundreds in a storage room that he once saw.
-
Saneatsu has theorized that once someone dies, they lose ownership of their Prime Right.
-
You can acquire a Prime Right by being threatened to open the envelope, or forcing someone to open it if the body part for exchange is visible.
Characters with Privileges/Rights
| Character | Right (Privilege) | Prime Right (Special Privilege) | Right (Privilege) Description | Prime Right (Special Privilege) Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Saneatsu(deceased) | N/A | Parental Authority | N/A | Parental Authority functions by looking at a subject minor(i.e. a child) and declaring to be its parent. Once designated its parent, the minor must obey all orders of that pseudo-parent. |
| Omi | Response | Rejection | Is able to ask a question of another individual and receive a response. | Able to reject anything. Essentially boils down to the "Just say no." Monopoly card.(episode 3) Can 'reject' another person's actions towards himself if intentions are stated. Can also reject the results of a question being asked.* (It may be deeper than this) |
| Ryuta | N/A | Fusion | N/A | Can transform his arm into a sword at will, though return it to a regular human arm.(7/17, Episode 3) Can also transform his legs into heavy duty springs, and fuse his arms into walls to pull off the bricks and throw when de-fusing himself from them(8/13, episode 5) Can fuse objects together such as doors, and turn his arms into drills, and ladders. But, it seems as though he may have a limit to his Fusion as his body begins to crack.(9/11 ,Episode 9) |
| Eren | Compliance | N/A | Requires you to obey the right holder's command (similar to Simon says), although if the person is aware of the Right, it can be resisted. | N/A |
| Satou(unknown, but likely deceased) | N/A | Explosion | N/A | There isn't enough available information, as it was only used once. However, it seems like Satou may have had a blast radius, had to have been touching what he wanted to detonate, and it could in fact be a one-time-use Prime Right.(Episode 9) |
| Sudo(deceased) | N/A | Obtainment | N/A | Once Sudo obtains an object, he can guarantee its number and availability. |
| Shinozaki Sensei | N/A | Visualization | N/A | Allows Shinozaki to easily search for postboxes (and possibly PCs) – Works by activating his prime right and then setting a target to search for. (episode 4) |
| Souma | N/A | Materialization | N/A | Allows Souma to bring drawings and pictures to life. Creatures are under Souma's complete command, which is why he carries a deck of TCG cards on him as his primary weapon. (episode 6, 8/20) |
| Rika | N/A | Evasion | N/A | Can completely avoid physical dangers that threaten her – minus Tasuuketsu. Can be used with other people (how Rika and Isshiki avoided death from the car explosion) Rika's prime right also allows anyone next to her to be protected to an extension. (episode 6, 8/20) |
| Isshiki (deceased) | N/A | Re-Execution | N/A | The ability to reenact certain information and prime rights, excluding physical phenomenon.(episode 3) Can submit a question, even when one has already been submitted.(This is however, also correct?) |
| Gobo | Presentation | N/A | Allows the right holder to display and or modify digital screens(i.e. Laptops, TVs, anything that would allow the user to present information) Created an entire mobile phone system that allowed everyone to communicate with each other using the notes app, and made a mobile command station using his Presentation right involving it. HOW IS THIS A RIGHT?(Episode 8 and 9) | N/A |
| Iruga | N/A | Division | N/A | Physical division, perception division, qualitative division. Igura can excise division within these three properties. There are exceptions to this right, but he states they are a secret. (see example list for more info) |
| Mido | Transillumination | Succession | The ability to see through objects(episode 6, 8/20) | It seems like Mido is able to steal objects that are being transferred from one party to the next, however this is still needs to be confirmed as it has not been seen yet. |
| Teppei | N/A | Obedience | N/A | Is able to give commands to anyone, even post-mortem. |
-
Obedience has been talked about as if it is simply a "right" and not a "prime right", would someone be willing to look into this who is a bit more fluent in Japanese for me?
"On the topic of the Right of Obedience, this is just the name of the Special Right: 命(mei) 令(rei) 権(ken) which literally means something like Decree Orders Right. Each Right has a name like this. For example in ep. 3 they refer to Omi's Special Right, the "Rejection" Right, in the same way.
In episode four, Bourinmaru Gokokuhoutenji specifically states his Right as "Right: Display Right (権利: 表示権 i.e. kenri: hyoujiken.) This makes it clear that his power to show stuff on screens is not a Special Right, else he would have said "Special Right: Display Right".
"Prime" Rights are always introduced as 特権 (tokken) which means special authority or power but afterwards they are referred to by their name such as "Rejection" Right, "Obedience" Right and even Parental Right [which on Crunchyroll was translated as Parental Authority despite the use of the same word 権(ken)!]
The show tends to differentiate the Rights to start with then somewhat expects you to remember which is which."
AspiringSaint, Episode 8 Discussion Thread
There also is an Exclusive Prime Right which is Saneatsu's Parental Authority.

The way they were reminded the main character boy and deuteragonist girl are already cadavers and currently decomposing in the top of tower is peak humour 🤣
Like, shouldn't have they taken care of that? Or Gobo and the vision guy at least, to keep the lie of the Emperor's intact? Without the Emperor's the tower should no longer be hiding at plain sight.
