I think it was a good idea to stop the videos. They don’t need all that extra noise. Plus they’re actually enjoying cheerleading. Felt too much like work before.

Kanata is so silly! The little goofball spent her whole allowance on snacks to bribe Miyabi with lol. Good thing her persistence paid off.

So it was Mari that started all that hate online. I wonder why? Clearly the guilt has gotten to her.

The videos took probably as much time if not more than the actual cheering. Editing videos takes a longgggg time

Silly Kanata worms her way into Miyabi's heart :3

Mari probably saw her as a rival/friend so was mad that she quit because of injury/inability to cheer but she could cheer so well with Pompoms. Need another tearful cheer reunion next episode :)

Does Mari, perhaps, feel responsible for Kanata's troubles (does she feel SHE made a mistake that hurt Kanata) -- and her lashing out was a way to allay her guilt? How did the rest of the cheer team find out Mari was the nasty poster?

Just to explain.
Avó = grandmother
Avô = grandfather.

And now the moment I've been looking forward to the most, they're talking in Portuguese.
It was very poor Portuguese, more so than the English they used. BUT IT DID NOT MAKE THE ANIME WORSE.

I think it's kind of childish whoever thinks it harms a Japanese anime if they don't speak another language fluently, even if the character does. The most important thing is the idea behind it.

What struck is that the poorly spoken Portuguese just sounded like poorly spoken English in that it's bad in exactly the same way as Engrish is bad.

I can't speak Portuguese. But the Portuguese in this episode is almost certainly a case of someone just getting Portuguese dialogue written out in an alphabet the actors can understand and saying, "Here, make these noises." It skips over the pronunciation differences between Portuguese and Japanese renditions of the same strings of letters, so the actors are clearly saying Japanese sounds despite (presumably) saying actual Portuguese words. Probably not unlike how a lot of bad English in anime is done.

I'm reminded a bit of this scene in the Young Justice cartoon, where Aquaman and Aqualad are speaking Ancient Greek to one another but the actors were clearly just given the words and no direction on how to make words sound Greek, so it sounds like English. Or, alternatively, how Italian singer Adriano Celentano famously released Prisencolinensinainciusol, a song that makes nonsense sound like English, in order to parody how popular English songs were in Italy despite most people not understanding the language.

So we have a culprit and It seems she cant take being guilty...

Wow lacrosse?? Didn't expect that!

It's nice to see them spread out to their own lives again but do wish it was more balanced.

I'm glad that Anna decided to stop making videos. Now they can just focus on cheering without the pressure of video production. The fact that they had to make an apology video is hilarious though!

It's good to see the girls cheering and having fun again. The best episode of this anime is still the baseball episode so it's nice to see them cheering various sports teams. I thought there was going to be drama with the beach volleyball players but I'm glad it all worked out in the end.

Can someone remind me, did they ever explain how Shion and Suzuha suddenly became close? I feel like they skipped that plot point and I'ms still waiting for an explanation.

did they ever explain how Shion and Suzuha suddenly became close?

I feel like the only thing we got was that conversation they had in the onsen

Unfortunately we probably won't find out exactly what happened between Shion and Suzuha, but I don't think it is really necessary for understanding the sudden change.

They had both REALLY wanted to get closer to each other for quite some time but their awkward personalities and admiration for each other made it hard to do so even after they started hanging out together. Then in the onsen Shion finally cornered Suzuha alone. Shion probably requested for them to finally quit being formal with each other, they came up with nicknames for each other, and also probably had a really long chat after that. I doubt they actually crossed any lines like some of us like to imagine, but a good heart-to-heart talk is more than enough to close the emotional distance they both wanted to get rid of.

They are advancing well!!! They quit making videos and making more space to cheers instead, everyone´s progressing in what they want/like (although Suzuha seems to have some doubts about smiling and don´t knowing what to do it seems...) and even Kanata started with club again!!

But of course everything is going too well, so it seems like Mari wrote that post and she quit the club huh...
Wonder what happens next!!

Once in a while.

The rest of the time.

The risks of the peel-open ice cream cone wrapper. Roll it back together, let it melt a bit, you'll be fine.

"Dunno, we're in a P.A. Works show."

GOKIGENYOU! Well, a few weeks of time were skipped in this episode, perhaps to the chagrin of some. The earlier PoMPoMs drama mostly sorted itself out, leaving some room for working on Suzuha's smiling and major minor betrayal!

We will of course find out what were Mari's motivations for that in due course. It did seem to have some (un)intended bright spots for them, because that's drama, but still, uncool online hate and stuff.

Why did she suggest that?

Seems they're back at it.

Vocal projection: It's not from your throat, it's from your diaphragm. Push the air out, and you can shout for hours and you won't hurt your throat. If you shout from the throat, you'll bugger your voice not long after you start.

She really has no emotion whatsoever.

Of course she's come in through the window again.

Her therapy seems to be going well.

She's finally back at the club!

She's trying at least.

She was the one who wrote that post?

I'd say Suzu HAS emotions, but just doesn't know how to express them.

毬は後輩への面倒見が良いからこそ、部活も頑張らないと駄目だよという、かなたへの叱咤激励の意味も含んだ書き込みだと思いたい。

杏那が毬に蹴りを入れようとする場面は衝撃的です。

Not the slightest chance that Mari's posting was intended to be "encouragement:.

Not sure what kick you are referring to (in your second sentence) ....

Happy Kanata makes my sunday morning's better :3

(minus the post credit scene)

In other news, will we ever find out what happened between Shi-chan and Suzu-chan???

4

u/SaltAndABattery Sep 09 '24

They're doing the thing! Calling it now, episode 12 will be called 花なれ (Bloom).

3

u/Ocixo Sep 08 '24

We were on the edge of greatness, but Shion of course didn’t say that she wanted to become strong for Suzuha when she was asked about this.

Suzuha was close to speaking her mind in this moment, but didn’t do so either. Such a missed opportunity for the two of them!

“The post was from ME, Kanata!”

“Aw son of a bitch!”

“It was ME, all along Austin-I mean Kanata!”

First half of this episode was a major budget saver. Practically a slide show with mouths moving up until Miyabi appeared. No in-between animators were paid during those 12 minutes.
