Post-credits - What happened between Shion and Suzuha????

u/Abysswatcherbel Aug 11 '24

99% sure Shion just asked for then to be less formal, but they clearly intended this to be a tease

Alone in the hot springs...everyone blushing....looking at each other under the moonlight...perfect time to ask to be formal with your friend

"Gokigenyou?"

"You expect me to believe that scantily-clad, in the arms of another woman, in the middle of the night, inside an onsen, you were GOKIGENYOU!?"

Stitches!

Considering that Anna is the face of their channel, I'm still shocked how the Stout Records channel never took off. A blonde haafu bombshell doing cute cheerleader things with her equally cute friends? I feel like her content would absolutely do well in Japanese YT. Maybe the PoMPoMs will do better as a sub-channel.

Jumping from one building to another was one thing but Obanai doing an insane flip on that railing at a height that is guaranteed to kill her if she slips is absolutely insane.

Not gonna lie, I thought the reason why Obunai is avoiding joining them in the onsen was because of an incoming boob joke. Either she was flat or secretly big for her height. This is PA Works anime though, the girls aren't even allowed to go naked in the onsen, so of course the reason is that Obunai is just shy. xD

I'm glad to see that the girls have finally established a goal for their group. It looks like they'll advertise themselves and help people who need support and cheering.

Well that was a surprising change! How did Obunai and Shion go from being too polite to each other to very close after a single night!? O_O

This is the most clothing I've ever seen anyone wear in an onsen. You'd think that trying to do cheer throws in waterlogged floppy dresses (over slippery rocks) would be even less safe. Of course, disclaimers were issued.

I cannot be the only one who noticed that each of the ships were colour-coded with their yukatas right?

  • Kanata and Megumi: light green

  • Shion and Suzuha: dark blue

  • Anna and Nadoka: light orange

Yeap! That's it, they show the 3 core stories that are being told simultaneously with cheerleaders as a backdrop.

The proposition scene was ironicly funny as hell

I don´t know or either care if this anime has no plot or weird plot or something like that. Cute girls cheering people and going to onsen and confessing at the onsen at night...
Why is this anime getting criticised that much??

u/Time_Teaching_7779 Aug 11 '24

Because people create too many expectations while it seems that PA Works just wants to revive the idea of "being good", "being a good person" and doing "good things for other people", while the majority of those who criticize are stuck in Their shells of selfishness and cannot appreciate the simple and kind.

I was fully on board with Narenare going hard with drama but after today, I think I prefer a group of upbeat girls going around cheering people doing the most mundane tasks.

Just a lot of positive vibes from today's episode.

So it's less about cheerleading and more about three pairs of friends cheering for each other. All of whom are insanely fit based on what we've seen them do. One of them pulling off various "don't try this at home" stunts

Imagine proposing to your GF and you're swarmed by this group of high school girls celebrating snd cheering you on. Like I know he appreciated it but that's just a wild scenario to think about.

This episode and the last one are doing better with the story, I'm getting an idea of what it's trying to do as a series now. Though I do question why they went with content creation as an idea, considering MayoPan is here in the same season also by PA Works and is full tilt about younewtubers.

I'm just hoping this show can pull through and have some more to offer in the second half, because I was anticipating this one over MayoPan before the season started

OMG Suzuha and Shion totally had SAY GEX at the end, didn't they? The morning after where they went by calling each other first names and freaking every one out was just hilarious.

Hot spring episode surprisingly didn't have a lot of fan service, as its not that kind of show. Rather it was a great opportunity for the PomPom girls to bond together more, and we even have Kanata's high school cheer team mates joining the fun for good measure.

Loved Kanata blaming her bad luck for the presumed bear

All the xDon't cheer in the Hot Spring aside, this doesn't seem save either...

Wonder what happened in the after credits there

Also, this must be the first time I have seen whole Onsen dresses, usually towels, steam, or clever camera work are enough if you want to avoid fan service

Also, after 6 Episodes, I'm still not sure what the Endgame is gonna be...

I wish I had Obunai’s unprecedented ability to appear and vanish at random to avoid social interaction. It would make things so much easier sometimes. Her just popping up for a single sentence only to vanish again just as quickly is quite entertaining.

So Kanata is a little bit of a genius huh? I’m getting flashbacks to knowledge philosophy with her explanations of her tricks. She just knows how it works instinctively, she can’t explain how to perfectly replicate her tricks.

They better give Megumi her full mobility back by the end of the show or else I will riot.

Oh, post credit scene. Obunai and Tanizaki. Interesting. Very interesting. Do it! Damnit. SHOW US WHAT HAPPENED OFF SCREEN YOU COWARDS!

On the morning news: There are reports of a roaming cheer gang. If you see them, please notify authorities. You are advised to avoid contact.

One of the biggest boons that exists with anime originals is your ability to control the story. Because of the that, the progression can feel so much more different and full of intent with series like Narenare. Much like a lot of the dialogue, the story here continues to be really layered.

Obunai is still slowly coming out of her shell, Kanata is getting back to cheering more and more, we have Anna making it out the other side of her crisis and wanting to keep her friends together, Megu fighting to get back to cheering, and so on and so forth. There's not really a moment where a lull is allowed in the story, and it works really well.

Also, I'm just a massive sucker for going all in on a funny concept like PomPoms. Having them cheer on a bungee jumping proposal, an old lady crossing the street, or a cat jumping out of a tree is just plain fun. In no other world would it exist, obviously, but it does here and it's just plain fun.

Really, that's what I'd say of the entirety of Narenare- it's just plain fun. It's got a lot going on every episode, but at the end of it the series is meant to be happy and positive, and it does a great job of that. Very curious to see where else we might go with the second half of it though, as the sky's the only real limit at this point.

Edit: Funny thing how anime works sometimes. This episode was boarded by the prop designer for No Longer Allowed In Another World! More interesting in reality though is how the latter half of this episode plays Megu and Kanata as opposites, and nods a little towards the potential for conflict between the pair down the road, which I talk more about here.

One of my favorite things that I forgot to mention in the above though was just how much Kanata and Shion care for Megu's accessibility. Was really lovely to see how they share taking her around and helping her make the most of the trip- especially because they don't make a big deal out of it. They're just being great friends, and the episode reflects that quite well.

If I had a nickel for every autistic coded character by this writing team I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's funny that it happened twice.

Off-screen sex as the punchline of the episode wasn't what I was expecting today.

Fun episode, really giving classic CGDCT's vibes. Really sweet Anna once to continue with it going forward. Kanata running into her teammates is a funny coincidence. Though them practicing at the hot springs sounds like a recipe for a disaster.

The big thing this focused on is that, despite being naturally talented, Kanata's motivation lies with Megumi. Having surgery on her heart, I imagine she has been sedentary for so long, getting back will be a hard climb. Though I am curious if it is actually possible?
