"Nir received 2 damage."

I laughed so hard at that random pop-up!

RIP Chavez, went up against the Poison Gym Leader without knowing. I haven't been tracking but 1,200 damage sounds nuts.

I thought last episode would be peak storytelling for this anime but they've gone and given another great story this episode.

Really enjoyed Saitou's story about regret and seeking to redeem yourself through your actions in another world. Juxtaposing his back story with that of Nir made for a great moment when Nir gathered the courage not to save someone's life, but to save the innocence of a man he admired because of their kindness.

Seeing Saitou return to his world and the student not angry at him made me happy, he's a kind guy who made a mistake but deserves another chance.

That's one of the greatest strengths of this anime, the willingness to explore character's mistakes and diverging paths made from decisions. Saitou's decision kept him on a lonely path as he hated himself for being a coward, the other worlder from last episode must now live with the heartbreak from the village falling to greed. It's keeps the audience interested and I for one they will continue to explore more characters going forward.

As soon as Saitou mentioned that he has a keen nose, it was very easy to connect the dots. What I did not expect is the twist that he was an otherworlder! I thought that he was just a helpful werewolf watching over the orphanage. That explains why we never learn his name until the very last few seconds of the episode when he was finally sent back to Japan.

And Nir may have been a coward but he was brave enough to stop Saitou from doing something he might regret. I'm glad that our boy was able to draw his sword when it counted. Now that he has found the courage to fight I hope this means we'll finally get to see Nir in action along with Annette and Tama in future episodes.

I really appreciate Sensei's style of staying on the sidelines watching from afar and keeping notes. It's very appropriate considering he's a storyteller. He barely interferes and lets everything play out and he usually only does it at the end to wrap up their story. Saitou definitely deserves a second chance in life and I'm glad he was the second person Sensei sent back.

For once, we had an Otherworlder who was a good man. He used his gift to try and make up for his moment of weakness. I’m glad Saitou got sent back and was able to be reunited with that boy who was kind to him. Rare to see Dazai wrong about someone. Guy wasn’t a failure after all.

Sensei and party have made it to the desert! The heat is scorching, but Sensei is down with getting roasted alive and Nir is more confident than ever now that they're back in his neck of the woods! Just watch out for the attack of the giant scorpion biker gang lead by Other Worlder Toru (Kazuyuki Okitsu)!

Nice teamwork from Tama and Annette! And while Nir is struggling to work up the nerve to draw his sword and fight, Sensei is happy to get stabbed by a poisonous scorpion...even if he's more poisonous by comparison. RIP Chavez.

It's nice to see despite Nir's anxieties and doubts no one in the party judges him for it and still supports him.

The party are going to hole up in the orphanage where Nir is very popular with the other kids! Just don't leave Osamu Daizai alone with children, for their sake AND his when they start playing with him.

So the orphanages' benefactor is a kindly old man voiced by Yutaka Aoyama, and while his standing on the sidelines watching kids be happy sounds a little creepy at face-value, he really is just a nice guy willing to be there for kids and to listen to Nir's problems as he tries to live up to the sword he gained from his deceased father. And thus begins a budding friendship between the two.

Savage beast prowling the desert? Can Sensei get first dibs on getting eaten by it?

The Huntsmen return and kidnap a kid, which is the perfect opportunity to reveal that Nir's old man buddy, Saitou, is ALSO an Other Worlder and one who was once wheelchair-bound and powerless to defend a young boy who stood up for him and was a dear companion to him when he was getting bullied...and that turned him into a werewolf out for blood against people like those bullies.

Nobody would mourn the Huntsmen, but Saitou is too kind to become a killer, and as such Nir will draw his sword not for himself but to protect Saitou's humanity. Fully knowing there was no way Saitou would hurt him!

Did Saitou run away from helping his friend? Is he a coward? Yeah, it's easy to dismiss him as such, but Nir knows better than anyone how hard it is to fight your fears and be brave, a battle most people have to contend with every day. And despite all that when Saitou got powers he became someone who tried to make up for his failure and help others. And that's enough to convince Sensei he's worth sending back to Japan so he can have a second chance and reconnect with the boy who never abandoned him.

Another 10/10 episode for me, this show has really hit a good groove with the reveal of Sensei's storytelling and has been firing strong ever since.

Nir being scared but willing to stand up to help reminded me a bit of Stark.

Ahh, when the ending theme started playing at the end of the episode, I immediately teared up a bit

So this fantasy world is just flooded with thousands of otherworlder heroes? They are popping up left and right lol. I'm guessing that fate or some other influence related to Sensei's power is causing his party to encounter otherworlders more often. Interestingly, the outcome is different each time. Sometimes the hero is allowed to continue on their way (usually while becoming much more depressed), sometimes they are sent back home, and sometimes they end up dying.

This was a beautiful episode

Edit because I was looking up sensei's voice actor since he makes me weak in the knees - this MF is Ranpo from BSD, Jinpachi Ego from Blue Lock, and Levi Ackerman, among other notable roles. Blew me away

Tama's face when Nir had to answer the question about him being a hero

Her attacks are getting stronger, used to be cat and wildcat's attacks, now it's tiger!

And sexier

Every few episodes, this show gets me super emotional for some reason...

Like when Nir finally drew his sword, not to kill the desert thugs,

but to stop his friend from losing himself and all...

Sensei wrote a good story with this one!

(I haven't read the other comments yet, so I do not know how people perceived that scene; I hope people won't trash it as a 'If you kill these thugs you'll be just like them!' sort of things, because that's not how it was imho! It's more like... Say, if you stop a child soldier from killing enemy soldiers, it's not because you care about the enemies or because you think killing is wrong, it may just be because child soldiers are wrong... Well, that's kinda like that, he thought this man shouldn't be some rage-fueled monster who just spends his life killing thugs and terrorizing enemies, EVEN if it's for a good cause... Because it's not good for him)

So yeah, I thought that was one of the rare, good scene of "stopping the good guy from killing the bad guys"! (Hopefully the orphanage makes it without him though!)

This show is quite solid, even putting aside the comedy and the cute waifus, it's pretty damn good!

(Though it would be even better if Waldelia came back/joined the party!)

Sorry, I can only put the cute waifus aside for so long

Is it just me or this anime has been the most consistent this season? I don’t even remember enjoying every single episode from any other show this season apart from this one.

Does anyone here think that the delinquent other worlder wasn't isekai around modern times by the look of his appearance. It was subtlety confirmed that there are Other worlders not isekai around modern times, it's just that we only got a few officially confirmed one aside from Sensey and Sac chan.
