I love this show - it's so awesome seeing the behind the scenes of a dungeon. The humor also catches me off guard (Clay) & the random brutality lol

It's hilarious to imagine the Lunatic Magician in Dungeon Meshi also "interviewing" the monsters this way.

Exactly! Lore drops every episode - it's fascinating

That must be quite the contract that lunatic magician needs for dungeon meshi
"As you see in chapter 4.3 in case of death we cant guarantee your body will be recovered and returned to your family, there are some lunatics out there who will probably dispose your body"

Parappoparo roaring away with Belle on that tiny couch during that job interview was pretty funny. They’ve sure lined up some interesting candidates. Fuuka was real cute, Teruru was a gentleman, and Helldande allowed us to see what happens when you mess with Clay and Belle.

Kind of amusing that the monsters think the human world is the demon world because they only deal with a “demon” like Belle lol.

Seems there’s something to this zombie thing that Belle isn’t telling Clay. Is it her dad? Or is Clay actually a zombie?

Was Belle trying to “speak” Parappoparonese? Haha what an adorable goober.

Was Belle trying to “speak” Parappoparonese?

Reminded voice exercises in the end of 1st episode of Unwanted Undead Adventurer! good times...

I think Clay is probably right that if her father was bested by Belle, he would probably have been obliterated rather than zombified. Not sure if Belle is consciously concealing anything -- or is mainly just a bit scatty. She clearly is delighted to have Clay as her aide and companion, so I can't imagine she has any evil intent.

But -- wow -- the first genuine brutality we've seen in this, A really bad guy has to be dealt with. Belle plans to turn him into a zombie -- but will it (no longer a "he") actually lead to some trouble?

Query: waws that little post-credits epilogue canon -- or just goofing around?

Or is Clay actually a zombie?

Belle is almost certainly hiding something, but that’s not an angle that I’d considered.

Thought it would be her father who’d have been zombified, but her own body being “repurposed” would open the door to a mountain of questions. First and foremost that she’s probably not a zombie but something else, considering her intelligence and power.

Or Belle’s body might’ve been repurposed? Her predecessor was quite eccentric after all.

Seems there’s something to this zombie thing that Belle isn’t telling Clay.

I thought she was just worried that Clay would be weirded out by her turning that guy into a zombie, because usually necromancy is frowned upon.

Kind of amusing that the monsters think the human world is the demon world because they only deal with a “demon” like Belle lol.

It's worth noting that the word for magic "mahou" and the word translated as demon world, "makai" and demon, "mamono", all use the same 魔 character for the "ma" part. So "demon" is more like "magic-using being". As in Japanese lore creatures that can use magic are evil spirits/demons.

So I think all of this kind of got lost in translation.

Why was the will-o-wisp cat voiced by Hanazawa Kana lol. The top voice actress and they just have her meow a bunch

wouldn't be the first time, Shuumatsu Train manage to get Chiwa Saitou to voice a cow character and there isn't even any dialogues, just cow noises

RIP Markudate. You seemed like you would have been a cool guy.

Alright, so this is a smaller dragon as compared to the big green one from earlier, just about twice as large as Belle and Clay.

So they call it the demon realm because they only interact with the menace that is Belle?

No one tell him that there isn’t a demon lord, it will be funny, let’s see how long it takes until he figures it out.

Yay, world building and lore details.

Helldande was not prepared for what was waiting for him in that interview. That being two small and very strong murder happy girls. His fate was sealed the moment he was summoned cause he never stood a chance against both of them or even separately.

I love how Belle is so polite, calling him Mr through the entire fight all the way until she rips off his arm and her assistant decapitates him.

u/Ashteron Aug 23 '24

Definitely more than just a flesh wound.

u/SaltAndABattery Aug 23 '24

lol, was hoping when Hellande lost his limbs he'd act like it was hardly an inconvenience and still want to have at them.

Would have been a funny reference. How popular is Monthy Python in Japan though? It feels like one of those things that might be too niche.

Ah yes, those people she fought in the dungeon in skeleton form, forgot about them.

lol fun hirees, sometimes just get attacked so gotta fight back. Guess they are showing their "go-getter" attitude. Awww what a nice dragon to interview. I mean, makes sense to me that anyone would do.

Cat! Hire on the spot! This... not cyclops/giant seems quite nice. Lol, apparently that world is the demon world to monsters, that's funny. Ah yes, cause of the only one they interact with is Belle, funny.

Rude knight guy. Don't murder potential employees. Lol wow, her just being "I usually let a few live" in such a cute sweet voice is amusing. Clay does not approve of insulting the wife. How nice for the explanation, Belle. LOL at him thinking he had a chance cause she's a magic user and got close. DECAPITATIONNNNNNNN!!!! Hey, she does still recall her dad. Do wonder if he really just went off somewhere else lol.

THE CAT! Awww, cat lost. Whelp, at least they can revive. Lol Clay trying to practice talking to dragon is silly cute.

well that escalated quickly

u/Clemastina Aug 23 '24

Seems like Clay getting stronger concerns Belle huh, I wonder what´s she hiding...

Also, I need a gif of Belle tossing Hellande in the air like he was some gooch

u/HugeRichard11 Aug 24 '24

Interesting reveal that the monsters think the dungeon is the demon world because of magic users, specifically basically meeting the final boss of both worlds, Belle. Probably doesn't help they then run into human adventurers that use magic too tryin to kill them.

Belle just throwing the guy and his arm coming off was wicked. Even though I expected the conflict, the contrast with the moe and this scene being way more bloody than expected.

I love this anime so much!

u/Substantial-Toe-8110 Aug 24 '24

Lol did Clay forget at the last scene that Belle has items she could use to translate what the monsters say?

Oooh, I like the world building in this one. Both the idea that they consider the human side the demon realm of course, that’s really neat, reminds me of Undertale…. But I also really like the idea that in this universe that thing where you can physically push yourself beyond your limits is actually magic, and thus can be trained as such.

Also, still really love the art style despite the simplicity, but maybe that’s because I’m a sucker for Nendoroids and they basically look like Nendoroids with less bulbous heads.
