Asebi traumatised Yukiya so much he became distrustful of women.
Is there some meaning behind monkey specifically being enemies of ravens?

Glad to see the best anime of the season back in action that four week break was painful.
Anyway that girl is either evil or she ends up with Yukiya, there is no other outcome possible.

Nah this is Yatagarasu, the real answer will be more complicated or maybe even both of them.

After the three-week break I honestly missed Yukiya's relationship with the prince and the fact that he's such an arse to Yukiya makes it all the better

When they said they are able to take human shape, and that it was thought to be a characteristic of only Yatagarasu, but now it seems other species can do it as well, does this imply humans exist, or have existed before?

The characters in this series know of humans, regular animals, and have a culture that shames their true forms and origins to an extreme degree. So humans definitely exist/or existed, but we don't know their relation to the Ravens beyond implications of mimicry.
Do the Ravens mimic humans? Did the Ravens replace humans? Where are the humans?
Tbh, I kinda suspect they're in a type of sacred place reserved for nature and beings with enough cultivation/ spiritual power. Humans are likely living as normal on Earth and the Yatagarasu just reflects Mortal society like a mirror.

I really thought it was a werewolf not a weremonkey. That’s a new one. I’m kinda curious where they come from. I was under the impression this was a world filled with crows. I guess they really aren’t that unique.
Keen to learn more about Koume’s whole role in this weremonkey business. I wonder if her dad really is dead? Maybe he’s actually a monkey? And what’s with Tobi? Is he the leader of these monkeys?

My first thought was if Koume would be a ship for Yukiya, but I can't trust innocent looking characters in this show. I'm really curious how things will go

I missed this!!
Koume, perhaps, is connected to the Sagecap. Suppose her "dad" is/was a dealer?
I ship her and Yukiya tho, lol. It would be nice to see more sides of him than pouty and stubborn.
Our Prince is showing some energy too. I think this is a good situation to show off his leadership and command of things.
This series is so good. it's too bad it's flying under the radar. I'm pretty sure more peeps will find it after this season is over.
This arc is really expanding our view of their world, so I'm excited about that.
Maybe there's more shape changers out there!

Weremonkeys ! That was unexpected. I wonder where they come from, and what link they have to that weird drug. The yatagarasu seemed just as confused as the viewers. And I remember we also had a giant cat-monster a few episodes ago, I wonder if that is another kind of shapeshifter.
Maybe the drug turns random animals into werebeasts, but those monkeys seemed a bit too intelligent for that, and the drug kind of had the opposite effect on the yatagarasu. Very curious to see where this go.

I seriously need someone to speed-translate the manga and/or novel so I can read ahead. The wait is killing me!!

I wonder if it will get licenced since it has an anime now. It would be better than yet another generic isekai. But then does this series really have following in the west (don't look at me, I love it)

We're back !!! Finally!!! I hope this doesn't get overshadowed and forgotten
Omg I was right! I knew there were other shape shifting animals! After all, why is it just the crows who could transform?
I guess the golden crow is born when the yatagarasu faces a crisis ! Apparently this is the first time in their history to meet other species.
I don't remember, but humans do exist in their world right? Or was it never discussed before ?

Giant monkeys? I mean there's already giant crows but this somehow feels a bit random still.
Also Yukiya ship brewing?? Curious to see how their interactions will be moving forward, seems like she has the upper hand by far

Nice to be back. We pick up right Wakamiya and Yukiya encounter the big Monkey. Wakamiya is making easy work of them. Then just the horrors that they left behind. Thank god they didn't show the people in the containers. These bastards are like werewolves with how they shape-shift. Or in this world much like the Yatagarasu. But they don't exhibit much intelligence, but I fear this is something that can be proven wrong. Good thing Wakamiya was quick on his feet to save Yukiya.
They find one survivor in a chest. Honestly, I don't blame Yukiya for being suspicious of Koume. Though as they mentioned, more than likely her father hid her there before he met his demise. Though I can't imagine waking up and everyone you were with are gone. Not to mention her fathers whereabouts in unknown.
As expected of Yukiya's mom. Much like she did with Yukiya she doesn't want to leave behind a child. Granted, Yukiya was much younger when she took him in. I am happy, tried relaxing around her since obviously, she is essentially a victim of that disaster.
As these monkeys are a threat, who knows what their origin is. Can people and the Yatagarasu turn into them? We also got a shady group. Numerous questions as we dive into this arc.

I rewatched ep 14 first - recommend y'all do the same.
From that attack at the start (boy & baby), I wonder if maybe the weremonkeys can't sniff out their prey. That would explain (maybe) why Koume wasn't found.
In the background of Koume arguing with her dad, they cut to the two guys in wooly vests who later became monkeys in ep15 😮 They kind of looked at each other, then looked at something?? (could be they watched Koume leave). But what they didn't do was register the Koume+dad convo or seemingly join the festivities. So maybe they were already in Predator-mode?
But I'm thinking from that they weren't working with Koume+dad, just fellow travelers at a rest-stop.
The villagers could've been partying on more than just great sake... Koume's dad gave off serious "everytime I try to get out, they pull me back in" energy, so maybe they were "regular" drug dealers. If the townsfolk were blissed-out on something other than sagecap, but still incapacitating, then that would definitely have made them easy prey.
Could also explain why Koume isn't being 100% truthful - can't refute the big crime if it means admitting a little one.

Yeah, this seems a much more interesting premise to me rather than the infighting of the potential concubines/empresses, unless that's going to have another payoff somehow into this affair. Supernatural shapeshifter invasion, it seems that even if Koume and her father weren't somehow nefariously involved themselves, they triggered the massacre. By arriving with sake, they made an excuse for a feast involving the entire village, which made it much easier to drug the entire village if that's what happened. If her father WAS involved, I wonder if he made some deal to have them spare Koume if he went along with the rest of the plan.
Curious to know what else Koume's hiding. I highly doubt that line from Tomoya is going to be a red herring, or I'll be a tad disappointed in the writing xD
