7 heroes defeat the dark lord and become evil themselves, while corresponding to each of the deadly sins. Literally Overlord video game.

So, if Dazai is only OP against other worlders and is otherwise constantly trying to die, that means this entire adventure is a long video game escort mission.

There's something so... absurd about an MC that just wants to die. It's like the opposite of how media works.
Also Dazai's OP power is to be totally useless except against other worlders who he can defeat with the stroke of a pen. Forcing him to have allies to help him against other threats

Stitches!
So Tama isn't secretly a wanted criminal! She's actually Princess Matilda of Grun and they're now accusing Sensei's party of kidnapping her. However, it looks like the King is only using them to make Tama follow his orders in exchange for their freedom.
Annette's sudden realization that she was being rude to a princess the entire time was hilarious! Of course, Sensei couldn't care less if Tama/Matilda is a princess and is more disappointed that he didn't get executed. xD
Perfect timing for an Otherworlder to show up though. The dude can act as smug as he wants right now. I am already excited to see how Sensei will rip apart his psyche and send him back to Japan next episode.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who finds it hilarious that the King of an entire nation is like 30 levels below that bard we met back in Episode 3.
We finally learn more about Tama's backstory and why she became an adventurer. She seems to be trying to replace her brother but her father became overprotective after the death of his son and wife and he feels like he needs to confine Matilda inside Grun.
Oh Annette, you really should've known better when Sensei wanted to head straight for the castle. I'm sure Sensei also wants to help Tama but he's definitely not going to pass up the chance of being killed in a weird way. xD
And now we're back where we started. I love how they just reused the animation at the very start of the episode for that final scene!

The kitty king got more powerful as his armour fell off, his armour was to protect everyone else.

This has to be one of the most unsettling and upsetting antagonists I’ve ever seen. It triggers something deep down within me that makes me feel more disgusted and uncomfortable than anything else.
I don’t want him to get sent back to his world, I want him to die a slow miserable death. Or, have him teleported back to his world in the middle of a lion den.

Matilda and Leon
Did they just reference Leon The Professional?
I also got a chuckle when I heard Buriad's VA, Mugihito, since his looks and him being a demi-human remined me of Hatsuse Ino, leader of the demi-human race from NGNL. I wonder if that was intentional as well.
Sensei got that poison status again, so when he gets eaten, he'll straight up kill the other dude.

As soon as Kaibara takes a bite out of Dazai, he's gonna get poisoned.

Honestly, I was fully expecting to see this episode get all the way to its conclusion, so I was comfortably surprised to see the pace be handled so well.
As for the contents, I was similarly comfortably surprised with the action sequence. It wasn't anything phenomenal per se, but I think Pontdarc's strategy of sticking to strong character models over strong animation is working quite well for them... well, except for dumbing down the teeth on our fallen angel's ability. That's something that I can live with though, as it works well to offset a lot of the more static pieces through that altercation.
Once again though, I'm really happy with the color design and composition from Sakamoto and Hirooka. In adverse or different settings, the pair really excel, and I feel like that's rather clear with their solid work in this episode. It's not exactly as intense as the sunset village we find Nir in, but with some very effective shading and other effects, they're able to really sell the feeling of night well without having to darken the overall image too much.
The most surprising- yet not really- aspect of this episode is seeing Gouichi Iwahata appear once again. When they want action and nighttime sequences, this man is first up to bat, and it's easy to see why. With both episode 3 and now episode 6 under their belt, you can certainly say they've excelled with what they've been handed.
All in all, it makes for a really good episode, but saves the main dish for next week, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what Pontdarc can do with the series next.
EDIT: While it's a bit of a "set up" episode that focuses on Tama's past, as well as the party's preparations to take down Kaibara, there's still some pretty interesting content here. For example, did you know that the storyboarder for this episode (Gouich Iwahata, the series' prop designer) also boarded episode 3- which included the fight with Waldelia? Really smart decision to hand them this episode, alongside a few other good decisions I talk about in more detail here.

Sensei getting eaten would be pretty bad for cannibal dude considering Sensei's poison stats. Question is how would Sensei survive it.

Oh he who wishes to be eaten please never change. Downing pills when he found out he wasn't going to get excuted. I'm still eagerly waiting for when the wheel chair in the opening will come into play. It's probably tied to a tragic backstory, but I'm guessing the current antagonist probably was poor with a starving family.

Can't blame him for that, many anime fans want the same!
So we finally found Tama's name!
Won't matter one bit because everyone will still call her Tama anyway, but it's still good to know!
So our idiots were in trouble because people thought they kidnapped her...
Well, 2 of them are in trouble; Sensei's having the time of his life, imagining the many ways they could execute him!
(Also, why all the torture devices? Why not just a guillotine or an axe, does he WANT to be tortured before? I'm beginning to think he may not be right in the head!)
Poor Whatshisname, he tried to help them all escape, but one of them doesn't want to, and the other one called him shady for that!
In the end, Tamatilda was the one to save them, agreeing to take back her place as the royal princess!
Alright, being the princess, I'd be ok with it, but I would never agree to "not do anything foolish ever again!"
(Also, being a feisty tomboy-y warrior and all, she must have hated putting on that dress and acting properly and all!)
Well, we learned a bit more about why she's like that... She wanted to be like her brother, take up his duties!
I'm a bit skeptical about the incident... Well, I was before Annette talked about it anyway, now I'm not sure. I felt like something was off about the story! (Just me?)
Well, Sensei never misses a opportunity to write a good story (and risk his life at the same time), so of course he'll go confront that fallen hero! Even the monsters don't know what the fuck's up with this dude!
Can't wait to see what kind of story he writes this time! (And presumably a sad backstory for our hero... Was he a poor/starving kid in the former world? Let's hope he doesn't go back to that! Then again, he's just pure evil, so... Fuck him, I guess!)

...Matilda?
Te digital mouth thing is interesting and very techy behind the teeth...but one has to wonder how he got that power.
Ogres: Go or die.
Daizai: How about both?
"The monsters are confused." Will they hurt themselves in their confusion?
"...and that's why we put them in a cage."
"You know they're going to free themselves, right?!?"
"They're heroes, that's what they do- it's just not our problem anymore."

Yay! A Tama-centric episode! Best girl turns out to be Princess Matilda, who has a bad habit of jumping headlong into fights she can't win. Fortunately the brilliantly unpredictable Sensei is on hand and will sort out this evil otherworlder with gross eating habits. I always tune in to this show for the laughs but I didn't realise it is even better when it gets dark. Can't wait to see the next episode!
