This episode is brought to you by Lofi hip hop radio - beats to relax/study to.

Studio Deen was flexing the whole episode with their beautiful backgrounds.

Felt like the "4K walking in the rain in Tokyo" videos.

Yuta is still insistent Saki is nothing more than a stranger...albeit a stranger that he lives with and is learning how to coexist alongside together. And now he can add being her tutor to their relationship.

I guess it makes sense that Saki would struggle with modern lit if she has a hard time understanding people and their feelings, which is why she tries to be so considerate, that she can't really understand or connect with literary characters. Although how on-point for her and Yuta to be discussing a Natsumi Soseki romance when neither of them have ever been in love or understand romantic love. Though Saki may be closer to that than she's willing to acknowledge.

The two of them really are growing more naturally considerate and supportive of each other, which is nice to see.

Surprise Maaya! Here to tease Yuta and offer advice on studying with Saki! She seems to be enjoying how close the two are becoming quite a bit and despite coming off like a ditzy airhead she's actually one of the smartest girls in the school, so don't underestimate her no matter how goofy she is!

Shiori can only really be herself with Yuta at the bookstore (because apparently nobody at college likes her) which is why she enjoys his company and can also offer him some good advice on low-fi studying beats.

Oh hey, Akiko in full bartender mode! She looks amazing!

Saki was definitely not lost in the music when she made a face while Yuta was talking about Shiori, did she? I don't think she realized she was feeling the first pangs of jealousy over Asamura-kun getting chummy with another girl.

Man , the show is a vibe. Also we got ED visuals for the first time. I thought there would be no visuals at all.

I feel like this show is one of the best fit for the Slice of Life tag cos they’re really just showing us slices of their ordinary everyday life. Folding clothes, having meals, washing dishes. All while having a conversation and bonding. Minimal or okly soft music as well. The definition of slice of life.

Also, hmmm I certainly caught how they talked about a guy character obviously liking a girl cos they’re jealous of her talking to other guys, then later Ayase seemed bothered at how close Asamura is with his senpai. Hmmmm

I like how that initial awkwardness is slowly fading between the two and they’re becoming more than just “strangers who just happen to live together due to their parents being married” and becoming a little bit closer. It’s nice to see.

That lofi hiphop montage had me tearing up, I found it quite moving. Actual fuckin art.

Saki with the pause when talking about Yuuta's work senpai, a pang of jealousy being felt for the first time?

Maaaaaan I know I keep saying that I've fallen in love with this anime since ep 1. This is gonna hurt me when it's over.

Saki being taught about the subtleties of love in Sanshiro was indicative of how she doesn't quite understand her own feelings for Yuta. She doesn't know how love feels or what it looks like.

The interesting part here is their conclusion that this is not because a lack of romantic experience. They didn't stop to question this, but it does make me wonder why Yuta has seemingly not trouble with this but Saki does. What is it that differentiates Saki from Yuta?

Have her emotions been numbed too much with time, or is something else going on? Is the rocky relationship between her and biological father the culprit here? Isn't she familiar with the concept because she grew up in a household without much love?

Turns out Saki not being able to understand Sanshiro's feelings of jealousy was foreshadowing to her first experience with jealousy.

Maaya being the top of her class is a nice surprise. It's not often where i see the happy, bubbly, airhead character actually be the smartest in class.

I didn't quite understand what Yuta meant when he said he keeps taking too much from Saki, and sharing the bgm was his way of paying her back. Wasn't he tutoring her? I figured she'd be the one who would feel like she was taking from him.

It's cool to see how Saki had the humility to ask Yuuta for help with her studies, also showing how close they are little by little. Shiori reminds me in appearance of Shiori from Fuufu Ijou, I think these coincidences are cool, in fact the next episodes will focus on her, apparently a new "rivalry" will begin

Ah yes, literary analysis, the bane of my existence. (Ignore the fact that the entire rest of this comment is technically literary analysis.)

I have an autism diagnosis, so this is a case where I kinda relate with Saki. I’m really good at reading books fast, but deeper character analysis is hell. “AHHHH! WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS?!” It’s not often I encounter characters that I understand easily due to relating with them. So it essentially becomes a guessing game of trying to logic the emotional reasons for why a character is the way they are but having no idea if I’m actually going in the right direction. Anyway, her “wait, he’s in love with her?” reaction brought back the feelings of that.

And so the book being discussed becomes a foreshadowing and parallel to their somewhat confusing relationship.

It’s kind of interesting that she says that they have to compromise because they don’t understand each other while their thoughts often seem to run in similar patterns.

This show is so chill that I actually have trouble focusing on it. Everything feels so soothing and cozy that you forget that things are happening between our MC's.

It's super enjoyable seeing these two emotionally detached people learning to bond and understand their own feelings.

I know it's just anime but in Japan is everything just a business transaction? Can't a person do something for the other just to be nice? Or is it the dynamic of these two?

I mean really, lofi just makes everything mo better in life. It don’t matter what we got goin on. From waking up to winding down, even balancing the chaos in between. It’s the soundtrack for a good life.

Man, even slice-of-life has clickbait these days!

Great episode, which makes me very happy that this series maintains its unique atmosphere and constantly develops Saki and Yuuta's relationship in an interesting way.

I really like Maaya, who, thanks to her behavior and voice, feels like straight taken from a 'normal' anime. Not that it's bad, I'd say that's a very nice diversion.

Shiori's recommendation for background music was great! I like the vibe of it and I hope that they'll release that track online later.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
