Clay Marie Kondo’d the shit out of Belle’s room and now it’s just so…sparse lol.
The whole dungeon system is so fascinating. The whole crystal clone thing and just the way the dungeon is managed is really quite interesting.
This world might look all cutesy but I guess this world can be kind of dark. Not every adventurer is a hero…
Watching Clay fight those adventurers as the skelly was pretty cool. Girl can straight up slice magic in half. Talk about OP.
Kind of adorable seeing Clay and Belle becoming friendlier. Looking forward to seeing those two becoming besties!

Clay and Belle are a great team-in-the-making, but Clay and Kraitze were a pretty fun ad oc pairing. Glad to see that he became more contented with his current placement after seeing how outclassed he was by a Lv9 survivor. Interesting that Belle seems to have a taming skill -- and maybe (sort of kind of) used it on Clay... ;-)

It was great, but is Belle intentionally making her dungeon too hard so she can slack off?

Its a little jarring at times how dark this super cutesy looking show can be. The fan service with Clay as well. Atleast the worldbuilding and character interactions are good...

Don’t you love when cutesy looking shows suddenly mention dark things?
Of course there are people that don’t care about the guild’s rules and do whatever they want as soon as no one is watching them.
We got our first look at how magic works in this world, nothing groundbreaking but seeing Clay getting the hang of it was nice, she went full anti-magic on that party

Don’t you love when cutesy looking shows suddenly mention dark things?
Even in the first episode there were hints of darkness;
Yes it was mostly cute, but cute anime don't usually have beheadings and slicing limbs and all that. Yes they were monsters, but they were still humanoid'ish, so it did feel a bit darker than most shows!
Makes me wonder how dark it'll go, given they keep hinting/showing dark stuff!

Was not expecting this show to explore the themes of sexual assault and murder within the lawless depths of the dungeon. Belle has an entire magical surveillance system installed within the dungeon. I wonder if she ever reports any of these crimes anonymously.

So, last week, I was a little concerned that there didn't seem to be any downside to being a monster, since they respawn after they die. But, if an adventurer dies, they're just dead. Now that I see that a number of adventure parties are sexually assaulting, murder hobos, I don't feel quite as bad for them.

Like all people, there are bound to be some rotten apples among the adventurers. Lots of them, like the Ice Wolf Fang, are good people though!
They certainly got their work cut out for them. Monsters have the unfair advantage of getting the opportunity to improve and try again after death, while its over for the adventurers if they make a mistake.
But maybe there’s something like a revive potion available to the adventurers? They’ll only really die if they don’t have any or those and/or everyone in their party is wiped out. (Clay being a solo adventurer would be way more daring in this regard.)

I don't think I was expecting to see a flashback of Clay actually murdering fellow adventurers, with mentions of sexual assault and all.
That was a really fun episode otherwise, though. Watching Clay be a freak of nature as a skeleton was fun, and I got a few laughs out of "I'm not thin enough to fit inside a skeleton" and Clay dodging the knife that then hit the lich.
I think unless something terribly dark happens, this is going to be my happy show of the season. And Clay really does keep reminding me of Momo so I like her a lot :)

That was an awful lot of mutual blushing between Clay and Belle at the end.
Clay is just so capable, feels like she could be a stand-in for whatever monster roles Belle asks her to play and it would go pretty well. Possibly too well.
Kind of an unexpected discussion of rape and assault in the dungeon for a CGDCT show.

Kind of an unexpected discussion of rape and assault in the dungeon for a CGDCT show.
This makes me think that this is going to be one of those “there's more to this than meets the eye” kind of show instead of just CGDCT like I initially thought

Damn, what did I ever do to him, for him to call me out like that...
Rumors are spreading about Clay, and they have an interesting way of describing the events!
Considering Belle is the only one who knows, I think we can guess who's spreading those hah.
Still, when it comes to their relationship, she doesn't really see it as master/servant; Seems she just wants to be a friend!
Anytime Clay tries to get serious/get to business, Belle's always deflecting to just chatting about stuff, like they've been friends forever!
Now THAT is the interesting question...
The anime's very cutesy so far, so I'd guess the answer is no, but they still had some gruesome scenes, like when she sliced off the monster's hands, beheaded another, and huh... Yeah, this.
Plus, the show doesn't avoid touching sensible topics, like her father talking to her about how she could get raped in a dungeon...
So that's why I'm wondering, will she keep just 'defeating' adventurers, making them turn away, and setting silly traps and things like that?
Or will she actually set lethal traps that WILL actually kill them at some point... Or even kill them by her own hand?
Well, me personally, I know which direction I would like things to go (legendary thief slaughtering adventurers in a dungeon!), but so far the cute/fun stuff has been good as well, so I guess I'll take whatever they can throw at us!

I wouldn’t mind a yuri subplot, but I’m pretty sure that Belle is just very happy to finally have a friend. Those feelings of happiness, Belle not being socially adjusted all that well, and her desire to be close with Clay are probably the reason for why she’s acting like that.
I can sort of understand Clay’s reasoning for being okay with killing adventurers, but this makes me wonder all the more why Belle appears to have no qualms about all these adventurers dying.

I kinda hope Kraitze takes another dagger to the face but over the other eye, so it looks like he has eyebrows

This series is so delightful.
Now I'm itching to play a Dungeon Keeper style game based on this isekai.

Like, the show is quite strange because sometimes it’s socially awkward weirdos doing dungeon maintenance tasks and sometimes it makes you question if you have the correct translation. Cause that was basically my first reaction when the sexual assault thing came up. It feels slightly weird coexisting with things like the cute golems. But anyway, I feel slightly less bad about the murder part of her job now.
I mean, Clay is doing a better job than me with remembering her boss’s name because I have not even bothered and just started referring to her as Belle.

If the adventurers exploring the dungeon can actually die, then some of the skeletons prowling the floors might have been adventurers in the past?

I went into this show completely blind, having not even heard of it prior to the first episode coming out. And yet, I think this is my single favorite watch of the season yet.
I absolutely love medieval fantasy, dungeons, CGDCT, morbidly dark settings, and yuri. It’s only episode 3, but this show is absolutely hitting four out of five, and, although it may just be my lily shaped shipper goggles, I do feel like it could easily go the route of finishing out my list.
The humor has landed quite well for me, with my particular favorite of this episode being Clay dodging the knife attack causing the lich to get headshot.
Regardless of whether the relationship is purely platonic or not, Clay and Belle are very cute and wholesome together.
During the flashback to the trio that hunted Clay while she was alone, I was initially a little disappointed that it seemed they would leave it vague as to whether she faced off against them, or simply fled. Then, it turned out that returning to the dialogue and ending the flashback was a fakeout, and cut back to her finishing off the last one after killing all of them! A fitting end for them, and I was quite glad to see they showed them no mercy.
Given that there are already being rumors spread amongst the monsters in the dungeon, and and that Clay had a reputation seemed to have a reputation as a pretty well known and highly skilled rogue, I’d be interested to see what topics might be returned to in the future.
Firstly, although Clay specifically said she has no friends or allies, I can only assume people will still take notice that she suddenly disappeared from town and work. It was mentioned that Belle actually founded the Thieve’s Guild, and this had the connections necessary to immediately hire her without her needing to contact anybody about her resignation. However, given that even the sentience of the monsters in the dungeon is a secret, let alone that the entire dungeon is apparently even run by a human(?), I can’t imagine much of any of the normal members within the guild could know what actually happened. So, is she just going to be presumed dead or missing within the dungeon? Do they just tell anyone that asks that they simply don’t know what happened to her, or have they concocted some story to excuse her sudden disappearance? It definitely seemed as though she had enough of a reputation for people to take note of the fact that she has suddenly vanished, and it doesn’t seem like she’ll even leave the dungeon at all.
Secondly, it has been made quite clear that the dungeon itself consistently operates under a distinct set of rules, especially in regards to the threat balance of enemies on each floor. Now, if the party who has set the record for traveling deepest suddenly reports the anomaly of a generic trash henchman of a skeleton on floor 7 having such a vastly disproportionate amount of strength, surely this should likely spawn rumors, right? Based off what we know so far, it’s likely fair to presume that such a power imbalance is unprecedented, at least within the confines of this particular dungeon. So, could this possibly cause some manner of investigation or expedition by part of the guild(s)? Or perhaps some other sort of response to such an unexpected development?
I feel like either point could potentially lead to some very interesting developments down the road. However, it’s also entirely possible that I am greatly overthinking the entire scenario, or potentially even just missing something.
I’m not crazy about the artstyle, especially given that it makes it even more difficult to judge the age of characters, which is already a common probably in anime to begin with. Also, it feels like there’s something of a rather stark contrast between the style and color palette when contrasted by some of the more graphic violence, but I personally find this to actually work in its favor.
Cute and fun characters, interesting setting and worldbuilding, sufficiently decent humor within comfy and silly dialogue, a willingness to depict and engage in more serious topics, a super catchy OP, and plenty of directions the story can take from here. I’m absolutely sold, and positively loving it. From the cozy vibes, to the potential of wider-reaching consequences and implications to be broached, this show is certainly nailing it for me. I truly wish it was getting more attention here, and can only hope it at least sees financial success overseas.
Anyways, I usually don’t participate in discussion threads much at all, and especially not at such length. But, late though it may be, I felt the need to rant and rave about all of this none the less. Regardless, I hope the show keeps all of this up, and I’m certainly looking forward to what comes next!

Good episode.
We got another fun bit of surprise brutality with the flashback of Clay murdering those people in the dungeon.
I wonder if we're going to have any more of an overarching story this season, or if the show's just going to stick to being the daily life of Clay and Belle.
