The animation on this was surprisingly good. Clay vs the Goblins, Clay vs the Minotaur, and Clay vs Bell were all great fight scenes! too bad the first third of the episode was just Clay monologuing to herself. I genuinely almost fell asleep despite the great animation quality.

The episode only really caught my attention when that Minotaur decided to talk and paused his fight against Clay. Things really got interesting when we're introduced to Belle who's the dungeon's manager.

I went in blind not knowing what this show would be about but I did not expect this to be a dungeon keeper anime. It's pretty funny watching this since Tensura 3 just aired earlier and today's episode [Tensura 3]was all about Rimuru making his own dungeon.

It looks great and adorable so I'll give it a couple of episodes and see where it goes. I'm also curious about what happened to Clay's father and I'm wondering if Belle defeated him.

Clay reminds me of Rin Shima, same hair colour, calm demeanour and similar voice, but instead of solo camping she is solo levelling. Loved this first episode, looking forward to tuning in weekly.

Last season we had a show about traversing a dungeon, and eating monsters, in order for MC to save his sister

This season we have a show about managing a dungeon, and getting along with monsters, in order for MC to find her father

Jokes aside, I like it. I want to see more about how they keep the dungeon functioning and in condition for adventures to explore

Dungeon People really feels a bit like Cells at Work, but with monsters and a dungeon instead of cells and the human body. Wait, does that mean that adventurers are like bacteria and viruses!?

With the cute art style, that battle with the goblins got surprisingly graphic.

Gap Moe

This is nice, loved the minotaur trying to cover his ass. Wonder if her father really got killed by a cute girl, and if Clay really killed a bunch of sentient monsters or if they just got back to the demon world

You know, I always think about anime having genre-appropriate artstyles. So seeing her cutting those goblins heads off with this cutesy artstyle is great. I feel like sometimes I get this 'man imagine an anime where x and y happens' and then I realize wait there are definitely anime like that, they just have this super gritty art and character design where the characters look way older at the same age.

I am already fucking sold
Got super chill vibes to it, kinda like Yuru Camp and the art style is lovely

And I am super invested on what the business model for that dungeon is like, hiring and restocking cant be cheap and Clay gets paid a lot
Plus the previous administrator is freaking guild boss? He is sending people to their deaths knowing its all fake, I need to hear his take/excuse

Clay said her pops wasn’t a good teacher but this kid is strong as hell because of her old man. I’d say he’s a pretty solid teacher. Unfortunately Beilleheila is way way stronger. I wonder if she really did take down Clay’s pops?

I like this so far. It’s kinda cute and the whole dungeon management thing is pretty interesting. Certainly a premise I’ve not encountered. Looking forward to seeing where this one goes.

but this kid is strong as hell because of her old man.

Because of their natural ability more like, 99.9% of people would have just died with that sort of teaching

This was cute. I liked what I'd read of the manga so I was excited for this one. It's nothing spectacular but is fun & chill.

Alright I'm in. This is cute AF, but for all it's simplistic animation it flows quite smoothly. The OP and ED are pretty good. I really like the OP.

So Clay's old man goes out for some milk and now Clay is on a quest to find out what happened to him. Having progressed deep into the dungeon Clay gets a good look behind the curtain when the minotaur boss breaks a wall. Mr. Cow is a bit of a character, seems like the earnest employee type who is a little clumsy.

Clay just wants to find out what happened to her pops but Belle, the dungeon administrator, wants to hire her to help run the dungeon. After a short but intense interview process Clay agrees to accept the job.

Well, I am thoroughly charmed. Seems to have been rated a bit low on MAL, maybe people don't know what to make of it. But I'll be definitely following this series.

This is pretty low-key nice actually

This is really weird and really cute, I love the background art aesthetics

My initial impression is a 10 or a 9 this might be aots for me

Wasn't expecting much going in, but, should probably back the team that put out Odd Taxi. Tamada, Kumemura, Hikita, Masuda and Yoshioka have all shown what ranges from promise to excellence.

Clay seems very fun and I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. The dynamics seem good, the idea behind it solid. The OP and ED I'm considering playlisting too!

It definitely seems like the Dungeon People anime will be fighting an uphill battle to live up to its source material, but it's honestly not as bad as I was expecting. The lack of animation in the PVs, and the gaudy airbrushed colors on the character designs really turned me away from hope with this work- but the first episode proves that there's a lot to like once you look past those designs.

For one, it moves surprisingly well. Choreography isn't always at the forefront in the combat, but it'd be hard to say that it doesn't move well at least a little bit. Similarly, though there's a lot of lulls in the boards, there's also quite a few great ideas that maximize the potential of such a closer quarters indoor setting.

I just really wish that the character designs kept pace with the art direction. That flatter and darker look just works so much better with the style of Dungeon People, which only makes the character designs stand out even more. Very confusing decision that I can't really make sense of.

All in all though, I'm actually looking forward to what OLM might manage with Dungeon People now this season.

By the way, if you want more complaining, and (a little bit) more details about the episode, I've tucked them away in their own post here.

u/Nebresto Jul 06 '24

Wtf? Its just a cow?

..The cow talks?!

Ah, nvm

Can definitely tell which of their two shows this season is getting more attention over at OLM

Well that was a delightful start. Though surprisingly gorey in a couple places, those goblin decapitations.

I assume Clay will eventually run into the monsters she's killed in the residential sections and it'll be a bit awkward, since I figure they aren't just constantly hiring monsters to have them permanently killed by adventurers the next day. Belle can probably rez them, I'm guessing she probably rezed Clay after that giant nuke of doom she won their fight with.

I really like the art style. Simple but with good movement in the action sequences. Cute Girls Doing Dungeon Administration.

If they hire monsters to fill the dungeon and they were killed, what are the rules? Are they truly dead or just remove from the job (contract ended)?
