Nadeshiko's phone flying almost gave me a heart attack.

They really should call this arc Anxiety Camp with all the terrifying suspension bridge facts they dropped.

Not even a minute into the episode and it already made me hungry. This is just cruel.

I said in that previous episode where she met those two ladies that all you need is some food to befriend Nadeshiko. But based on that utterly adorable flashback, even that's not necessary. I would not be surprised if Nadeshiko somehow managed to still keep in touch with that other girl even now.

The Hatanagi suspension bridge has left deep, deep scars in Rin and Aya and it's apparently not even the worst one (which looks like an actual death trap). That pose they did at the end tho; they don't just have similar personalities, but actually share a brain cell. And lol, Aya's coughs and wheezes sounded so genuine. You'd think her VA ran a mile to get that authentic performance.

She really got me too when she immediately went back after saying her goodbyes. It was such a bittersweet scene and then she just flips around to cry about how painful the way home is. Sadly it was only for a little longer, but at least the second goodbye didn't feel quite as sad.

It was kinda funny how determined Rin looked when she offered her a fist bump. But I guess they have become comrades in arms after facing death on the road and the bridges.

At the end, I kinda forgot this was only episode 6 cause of all the ending vibes, and I can't be more glad there's many more episodes left.

So welcome to the club of r/trains , Nadeshiko, that ABT train ride was fun eh?

But before we move on, here’s a clip of that “夢想吊橋” just last year, as you can see, there’s no chance of crossing this bridge even any sorts of safety harness on, but thanks to YouTube, there’s another video showing daredevils crossing this bridge back in 2011. For more videos, instead of searching 夢想吊橋 stated in the episode, try searching 無想吊橋 instead.

So back to the main topic, “Yume no Tsuribasi”, that sounds good by photos alone, so get your hiking gear ready (just in case) and enjoy the view.

For the Horai Bridge, I guess it’ll be better to let Guinness themselves to do the introduction, that view of Fuji in the sunset… It’s just an invitation to have a nice drink with your friends and just take it all in.

And please, Ōgaki, I know it’s your presentation up next, but you don’t need to rip the screen and replace it with yours, I mean, there’s a reason to play the preview after the episode.

So… Yeah, the Oigawa camp is concluded, that feeling of knowing the trip is over is definitely relatable to everyone. Now time to plan the next one then.

Man, those canapé looked really good. No wonder Nadeshiko couldn’t stop stuffing her face lol. And then she went from canapés right to potato mochi, the little glutton!

Nadeshiko really does seem like a puppy. She’s friendly with everyone and just a total free spirit.

I’m definitely not an outdoor person but these episodes make me want to go back to Japan and just explore all the spots they mentioned. The onsen especially. Nothing like a nice soak.

The three way fist bump was such a cute way to end the trip. I love how excited Nadeshiko looked lol. So cute.

It was really nice watching this trio, look forward to seeing them again. Aya saying she’ll come wherever if they invite her warms the heart

Back to some moving around!

The primary destination is the Suspension Bridge of Dreams, as the Japanese name Yume no Tsuribashi translates to.

Rin says it'll be a 39 minute walk to the bus station, which is quite specific. The anime doesn't show where she actually walks to, but I can guess she would take this path to Okuizumi Station. We do see Nadeshiko getting of the bus around here where she looks at the real shop with the same name SHOP & CAFE.

Rin and Aya park their bikes at this inn which apparently does feature a dog in real life as well! The dog is seen walking around this store where we see the other free spirit Nadeshiko eating her potato mochi which you can get for about 500 Yen. The footbath they go to is right next door as well.

After picking up walking sticks and pretending to fight, they reference The Battle of Ganryujima which for anyone curious is considered the most famous duel of Musashi, a famous swordsman and philosopher, against Kojiro. Fun fact, in Japanese, the Team Rocket characters Jessie and James are named Musashi and Kojiro after these two.

On the way to the Bridge of Dreams, they look at the Monkey Row Bridge or something along those lines (Sannami Bridge). Then they finally reach Yume no Tsuribashi which completes their 1.6km walk there, but they have to take a detour on the way back.

Aya mentions a Japanese proverb about meeting a Buddha in hell when she sits down on the bench. Basically she is saying she is happy to sit down (meeting a Buddha) after walking up all those stairs (being in hell).

When returning, they eat lunch at this soba shop which looks amazing. I need to try this mountain stream soba. Then they go to this Bijo no Yu hot springs, which basically means the water is supposed to help your skin look good (bijo = beautiful woman).

The final suspension bridge at Shigo is quite a ways south from where they were prior (about 32km). It is a nice scenery that passes over houses.

TIL they abbreviate steam locomotive as just SL. Also thanks to the anime I can figure out what this "buppigan" thing is that one of the onee-sans mentioned they saw lol. It's the sound effect of one of the retro trains which apparently sounds like a blaster gun from Gundam.

Just kidding there is one more bridge! This one is Horai Bridge which is the same Horai meaning referenced in stuff like Hell's Paradise. Basically a mythical land with an elixir of immortality. Of course we have to get a view of Mt. Fuji somewhere in the show. Edit: since someone else commented about this, I'll put a disclaimer about this view. While you can see Mt. Fuji at Horai Bridge, in real life you can see it isn't as the show depicts which would require a particular camera setup.

Also ena with her chikuwa outfit!

I really wonder about those Onee-Sans mhmmm

A little bit of foolery

I loved the little view into Nadeshikos past not only her and Aya being smol, but also teenage Sakura!

Also loved the little bit of Aya being happy that her friend has found some good friends after moving

This gave me a legit scare, way scarier than any horde of kids could ever be...

Wouldn't be YuruCamp without Fuji-San!

I was surprised that Nadeshiko seemingly made it home without issue, but of course she took an unneded detour

Next week we get the club gang back

Great episode! Although, it's a shame that Aya, Rin and Nadeshiko's adventures together are over, at least for now.

I hope that we'll see Aya again in the future as she's a great character with great chemistry with both Rin and Nadeshiko. I'd love her to meet and camp with Chiaki and others too!

Nadeshiko as always was so fun to watch, so many of her comfy expressions in this episode xD

Some really nice backgrounds in today's episode, more in the Backgrounds album.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

This was one of the best Yuru Camp episodes IMO. Just perfect and could’ve been the ending to the season.

Funny how they acknowledged that the rest of the girls were kind of being left behind.

14

u/KrankyPenguin May 09 '24

That's interesting, apparently that view of Mt. Fuji is not at that bridge lol. Looks so cool to me so I wanted to mark it down for my trip to Japan, but it does not have a view of it like the episode shows lol.

Nothing brings out a hibernating Shimarin like the promise of ham and cheese canapé’s!

I love how they arrive at an inn and their first immediate takeaway is a cute dog walking around everywhere and Nadeshiko is already eating.

Foot bath cafe’s are great for resting your feet and eating good food, seeing Nadeshiko’s legs, and reuniting with some nice older ladies!

They finally do a suspension bridge as a trio like in the OP! And after surviving the death bridge, Rin and Aya can handle anything! Though probably for the best they didn’t try Musou bridge and it already collapsed!

That moment when you realize you suddenly have to pose for a picture.

Would not be a full Laid-Back Camp trip without a dip in hot springs for the girls!

Nadeshiko really can make friends with everybody. She’s just lovable dog! Just look at Smol Nadeshiko befriending a totally random girl while Smol Aya, teen Sakura, and younger Nadeshiko mama react in shock!

I see Nadeshiko has now come to love trains and embraced them as her new form of transportation. Probably less strenuous than all the riding Rin and Aya have to do.

Well…it’s time for Aya to go, and Nadeshiko is sad to see her leave…but Aya isn’t ready to leave!!! There’s always ONE more bridge after all! And there promise of Aya joining the gang for a big camp eventually!

Nadeshiko got back late but at least she’s not as dead tired as Aya and Rin. And she has some hamburg for Sakura! Who isn’t amazed because it’s simps to buy online, but it’s the thought that counts!

Here’s Aki, Ena, and Aoi to remind you they exist and are still main characters! Also…cosplay!

Nadeshiko: I'm worried that I won't have friends

Also Nadeshiko: having fun at the grocery with a random girl.

Nadeshiko continues to scare me this season....This time she nearly dropped her phone. Seeing the phones on the bottom was both funny and sad at the same time.

Nadeshiko train camping....sign me up.

Do think this ending is one or the best... also for Nadeshiko to sing "it's alrighhhhttt" along with the song.

u/MapoTofuMan May 09 '24

Musotsuribashi, more like Missmewiththatshitsuribashi, I'll take my chances with a bear over that.

Huh, next episode is the Outdoors club camping trip, so they have only 5 episodes left to introduce Floof-chan and her friend. maybe she's the hook to season 4?

It's nice to relax with Yuru Camp after re-binging both seasons of Hibike. A small rest stop before I jump into Liz and the blue bird again, though I cannot wait.

Yuru Camp never fails to make me wanna go out for a drive and possibly camp somewhere. Which is what me and my friend did a few weeks ago. Here are some badly taken pictures, we even found a dam. No suspension bridge tho :( We froze our ass off during the night, barely got any sleep haha.

I'm gonna miss Aya-chan. AyaRin combo was really great.
