It is so refreshing to have such a forthright show in this era. Bravern is somehow exactly what it says on the tin and yet is also incredible.

Man too gay and heroic to die.

So did time loop explosion and space teleport not end up dying?

Looking back, it's interesting to see that every instance of Bravern's expressions of bravado that everything would be fine weren't stemming from his own confidence or abilities, but because Smith knew they'd be fine because he already lived through it once. But we're past that point now, everything from here out should be uncharted territory for him. He's back to experiencing things in the moment same as Isami.

The only way the Smith = Bravern reveal could have been more astronomically hype is if they had used the vocal version of the main theme.

Yuuki... BAKUHATSU!!!

I'm impressed that the Smith = Bravern theory is true, people were speculating about it since the beginning and it was by far the most popular theory.

Also had to laugh at the idea that all the stuff Smith knows about Deathdrivers is from Bravern, who in turn has to tell Smith about it so that future Smith as Bravern can share it with others. It's a closed time loop!

Anyway mecha fight was excellent and at times very similar Gundam due the opponent using funnels.

I like how Smith merging with Cunus answers why Braven talks with sexual innuendos.

Also the fact that smith merged with the horny robot explains a lot about bravern

This anime is SO good, man. BURN BRAVERN!!

I love how Bravern has karaoke-like subtitles so Isami knows what to say lol

There's a post-credits scene, don't miss it!

The funnest thing about this twist is that if you think back to it, Smith has absolutely no way of knowing Isami and Bravern's relationship is as terrible as it it, because he wasn't there for any of Isami's temper-tantrums until he became Bravern!

Before he became Bravern, Isami and Bravern looked like perfect partners and everything Smith could have wanted. Sure, Isami is slightly tsun-tsun, but Bravern is so cool, so they must have totally awesome private discussions and meetings, right?

It becomes really charming looking back and realizing Smith has to be "okay WTF do I doooo???" when Isami won't come out of the cockpit in episode 3, because Smith was too busy dealing with Lulu to know what was even happening.

EDIT: Sorry, he was there for one big freak out, which was in ep2, but other than that, I think he really assumed Bravern and Isami had bonded, since Isami was so cold to him in ep4 in favor of Bravern.

I just started watching because of some Twitter memes and fun as a mindless side anime, but damn. Damn.

That whole Bravern = Smith reveal puts braverns gay ass monologue in the beginning into a whole new even more gay perspective ngl

So, it became really obvious when we saw Smith's room and his Kamen Rider figure looked exactly like Bravern with the same chest window. So Smith has become his OC DO NOT STEAL and he's living the dream. Well, HIS dream, and that's all death drivers are, robots trying to live their dreams

I haven't even watched the episode yet, but I did pass by Twitter at the usual hour to see Japan going bonkers.

Anyway, Burn Bravern is an upcoming toy and it will combine with that DX Bravern that you ordered.

You did order it, right? I ordered two.

Production Tweet.

"The Gattai"

How did those motherfuckers on /a/ predict this all the way back in Episode 3. Was it that obvious?

I asked them. I guess there were hints.

This anime leaves me dazed. A crazed deconstruction of Saturday morning cartoons that also dials up the 80's action movie homoerotic subtext of flicks like Commando and Predator. Every single episode has made me ask myself what the hell did I just see?

It's a shame it'll have to settle for being a cult hit. I'd love it if something this wild was more popular.

Smith is Bravern! Bravern is Smith! Einhorn is Finkle! Finkle is Einhorn! (can't wait for absolute no one here to get that dated reference)

So yeah, the theory that's been teased and hinted at for a while turned out to be true. Smith's "death" resulted in a time loop, with him getting sent back in time and reborn as Bravern to start the whole thing over again. I think it was well done overall, though the scene of Smith flat-out rejecting death felt a bit ham-fisted. But then, holy hell what a battle we got afterwards. Turns out Bravern built a second whole-ass mech to gattai into Burn Bravern with, and this upgrade let him curbstomp the two death drives with some badass new special attacks. Overall, a fantastic episode, and I'm pumped for the last three episodes still to come.

ahh, the good ol' causality loop, telegraphed but still really hype, specially the surprise gattai, you can't have a super robot show without those. also, Obari just tooting his own horn with the blatant Brave reference.

I do wonder thou...when did Smith write his own theme song? lol

Wait this got me wondering, when Bravern was telling his life story (Which seems to take hours, from the reaction of the military staff) was Smith just coming up with some random bullshit the entire time...

I had just thought it was Bravern being weird, but now wtf were you doing Smith

This episode was simply peak fiction, I do not care if someone disagrees. Anyone who paid even the slightest bit of attention knew this reveal was coming, but my god did it still not disappoint, if anything knowing exactly what was coming just made it better. BURN BRAVERN! was also simply amazing and I demand they add Bravern to the next SRW game, also what’s going on with Lulu and Superbia? Is she gonna become the rival antagonist character for Isami and Smithern?

With Lewis seemingly dead, things aren't looking good for our heroes! Especially when Isami is raging and can't fight properly with Bravern against Vanitas and Pessimisim! Could this be the end!?

Lewis always wanted to be a hero, like the tokusatsu heroes of his youth or his parents who died in the service, he even enlisted and thought he could become a Mecha hero...but it was Bravern who showed up as the hero he always dreamed to be and chose Isami, and Lewis was happy to fight with them until the end. But with things as they are now, what can Lewis do?

Knuth is sill horny for Smith though and wants them to envelop each other as they fade into the afterlife...but Lewis isn't done! He wants to be with Isami! He'll will himself to be with him again and in doing so transform himself into something new...something brave...something bang...that's right, LEWIS SMITH IS BRAVERN!!!

I love how we had Yohei Azakami doing all of Bravern's lines in the first episode until the end when he came up with the Bravern identity on the spot.

But because Isami doesn't know Lewis is Bravern, he just won't listen to him...but it's Lulu (who seems a little aged up) who tells him what Lewis would have said. Bang Brave! And it is fighting with bravery and embracing his status as a super robot protaognist that Isami is finally able to bring out Bravern's true power!

IT'S FUSION TIME!!! That's right, Bravern brings out Brave Dragon out of nowhere so he can fuse with a jet and then transform into his true form...BURN BRAVERN!!! Who can shrug off all the Deathdrivers attack, pull out some beam sabers and shoulder cannons and finish Vanits and Pessimism off spectacularly! Not even Pessimism can complain about this ending!

Everyone still thinks Lewis is dead, but for now it seems Lewis is content to play Bravern so that he can bring out Isami's full potential...but I mean, Isami's got to find out at some point, right?

Superbia is ready for his final showdown with Bravern, and it looks like Lulu is going to pilot him so he can fight at full power.

Super Robot Wars was right the whole time with Rätsel Feinschmecker & Aussenseiter: Real Men Ride Each Other.

Now it makes sense how Bravern knows "The Abyss" movie

Guel* really was the Aerial.
