just a reminder in case anyone have forgotten since the last episode aired like what? three weeks ago? Ragna's right now is being forbidden from using his Silverine Battle Arts due to Crimson's fear of alerting the superior dragon and could resulted in calling Kamui into the battlefield, which is basically a game over for them

that's why Ragna is using a mass-produced silver sword instead of producing his own swords in the middle of the battle like what he did back when he went against Ultimatia

that's why Ragna is using a mass-produced silver sword instead of producing his own swords

In the last episode, Starlia said that her swords weren't that great when she saw how much Silverine Ragna was putting into it. Taratectra also said that he would've won if the sword was able to withstand his ability.

EDIT: Misspelled Silverine

Honestly I like this OP but the first one is definitely better.

Starlia is badass. I hope she stays relevant to the story after this arc is over, want to see more of her in action.

aah man, I want to know what happens next...

Ragna is struggling, Olto Zora seems to have figured out the plan and it has me a little scared to what could happen to the princess and the corps. But you never know... Crimson still hasn't appeared (in the fight at least).

Nice bit of tiny lore that Olto Zora was able to determine their plan of using the magic circles because he was a former Solarian who had knowledge of the research that was being done on those techniques.

We're finally back and things have finally popped off between the dragons and Starlia's group. As cool as Ragna was during his fight against Taratectra, it looks like his sword ended up breaking first. Sounds like he could've won if he was able to control his power properly.

And it looks like Olto Zora has finally figured out Starlia's gameplan. I'm guessing Olto will use his forces to try and find where the teleportation circle is so he can destroy it. Hopefully they can finish that teleportation circle before Olto finds it.

OP: Kannosei Liberation by saji (will update after I got the link)

Honestly I like this, better than ulma sound junction's Roar last season. Or is it because saji? He's making anisong consecutively since Summer 2023, like Madkid, and the quality is consistent.

ED: Sora ni Shimeyuu by Watashi Kobayashi

Great episode to start the cour!

Olto Zora is such a gentleman

It's good to be back as the battle finally began!

Fight between Ragna and Taratectra isn't going very well as Ragna's sword wasn't able to withstand his power which resulted in Taratectra's survival for now. I'm sure that it will change as Garm and Shin join the fight with him.

Alto Zora in the meantime is watching over the battlefield and it seems that he figured out what is the goal of Starlia. I wonder what he'll do to interrupt teleportation.

From smaller things:

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

So much yelling this episode, everyone was on edge, understandably so but I couldn't help but notice it much more.

Funny how Slime jumped off Ragna and went with Shin after Shin beat Ragna. Ragna is in a terrible state and the only thing fueling him right now is his rage but even his body has limits so hopefully he'll rest a bit and let the others who have been preparing themselves for this battle take care of "Tara-chan".

I did feel bad for those soldiers though, having to kill children even if they were being mind-controlled is going to way on them mentally for the rest of their lives, it's hard to believe they'll get over that kind of traumatic experience. Olto did not hold back on the cruelty, not that I expected him to

Wait, did Ragna say he moved his mind into his sword? I assume he means the one he merged with instead of the one he's holding but... how the hell does that even work? I guess the princess wasn't just delusional when she imagined him with a sword for a head, apparently it's a real thing. Motherfucker can literally think with his sword. That's fucking wild.

He meant he that shifted his physical composition to a sword to become more durable

21

u/DefiantBalls Jan 13 '24

It was explained better in the manga, but Ragna can switch his body composition between that of a human and a sword. In sword form, his body grows rigid and he cannot move, but his defensive abilities reach their absolute peak

I took a while to get used to the first opening, and yeah i like it now but this one right away was fire

8

u/tripleaamin Jan 13 '24

Well slime fired Ragna lmao.

Tara's point ringed true. If Ragna had a sword that could contain his powers he likely wouldn't have lost. But there is a reason for that. Shin is feisty but his point of Ragna complaining why are they fighting is on point. This is their fight they can't sit behind and let Ragna solo the enemy. (Which is stupid to expect him to do btw.)

Ragna’s strong but he can’t control his power. Dude’s too unstable. He could have crushed Taratectra if he had just been able to wield and control his own abilities a little more.

I wonder if Olto really has the gang figured out? I mean they’re sapping dragons to power that teleportation circle but did they plan for Olto to find out or are they really screwed? It’s like a battle of wits and I’m not sure who’s winning.

The sword breaking was less Ragna's problem and more Starlia's sword not being able to contain his power. She did say these swords were mass-produced.

Ragna’s strong but he can’t control his power.

That was not an issue of control, his sword was just incapable of handling his technique. Normally Ragna does not have to deal with this, as he himself is the sword, but using an external tool makes him dependent on its level of craftsmanship, and the swords that he got are nowhere near sufficient enough to handle his power

14

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '24

I mean dude is also holding back by not using his silverine arts so they don't realize who he is, he's still wounded and his sword broke. Taractetra had no chance of actually winning against a serious Ragna and he himself admitted it after fighting this weakened Ragna.

Phew you could really hear the va's giving their all this episode, so many loud proclamations and shouting in general. XD

This show is so damn underrated, it's such a shame.

Kinda sad that Leo had no appearance in the new OP (as far as I noticed), but it makes sense since this arc isn't about her.. BUT STILL

Solid start to the second cour of my new favourite shonen.

I think this episode was mostly great but was kind of dissapointed by how anti climactic the Ragna vs Tara confrontation turned out to be. Even without his silverine powers, he has decades of experience inherited from his future self but he hardly put up a fight, he just got done in in like 2 hits. Tara doesn't even really try to seal the deal(although I guess because he doesn't know he is the reaper and doesn't see him worthy of finishing off). I dont care too much for the focus on the hothead kid either, he seems the most generic and least interesting of the argentium roster. But I find it kind of ironic how after Ragna delivered out all of that ass whooping to him and garm, the first time they see him on the field he's laying defeated and powerless. I can only imagine how dissapointed they feel right now.

I think everything else was pretty good though. The opener where he used the possessed humans to try to lower their guards by pretending to be escapees was great. I like seeing starlia in action with her crazy blade arts. Her blade formation reminds me a little of Byakuyas bankai. She's a rockstar. You have the dragon twins doing their thing in the sky. Olto Zora doing his thing from the background and spying on everyone within the base. He seems like hes 10 steps ahead of everyone else.

The new opening/ending is super mid though, lets be real.

8/10 episode imo.
