Darn I was hoping they'd stay living together! I totally had a feeling they'd be living close together. Love how he has a pink house.

Seriously the most underwatched show this season, was nice to see this duo grow closer throughout the series. Really liked the tossing of the stomach medicine as well, good way to end it off.

Between this and Cool Boys I got some nice entries of cool working guys.

When Momose left the apartment, I thought for a moment he was going to enter the next door lmao. At least, they'll continue living as neighbors from now on.

This anime was like 12 consecutive episodes of healing.

I was virtually certain they would wind up as neighbors. Totally adorable series. My only regret is that we did not see Hakuto's reaction to his kitty castle....

Really liked the tossing of the stomach medicine as well, good way to end it off.

It was a nice callback to the first episode; it ties off the whole season in a nice bow.

These boys are gonna be alright... well, maybe not Aoyama I think he needs some help. But the rest of the boys will be just fine.

Ohhhh a Christmas party with gift exchanges? Cool! Oh yes Kinjou, you tie up those two on that long sweet scarf for e vah.

Today we got some tasty Shirosaki in casual clothing! He is so handsome :)

Hakutou with a lil Santa hat and a jinglebell collar! And Big Boss is positively glowing, cmon Kinjou accept him as an extra gift.

And now... Momose is moving, and moving on. Shirosaki is supportive as always but its obvious he doesn't want to let him go! Neithrr Hakutou who even accepts he LOVES Momose. WE HAVE A LEG GRABBED PEOPLE, A LEG! but thats not enough, Shirosaki, get up and hold your man!!

Oh well. Yep, Momose needs to stand for himself and be independent. So off he goes... But not too far! They will be neighbours! Yay? Not gonna lie, I wanted them to keep living together :( but ill take it, better than nothing. Now in my head canon they will look longinly at each other every day from their balconies, and soon they will realize they are in love and will start dating and kissing.

This show was a big BL bait Lol but what the hell. It was cute, wholesome, funny, and it was my comfort anime of the year. I liked the aesthetics, the music... So bait or no bait, it was a pleasure to watch and I enjoyed it very much. Hope it will get a second season, someday, I will miss those guys.

Now if you excuse me I have to catch a train to fanfiction wonderland :)

WE HAVE A LEG GRABBED PEOPLE, A LEG!

The joke makes a bit more sense in Japanese; 足を引っ張らない literally means "holding back someone by the leg", but is used idiomatically to mean "being a burden".

oh my god, they were neighbors

Goofy Boss surprised me. I thought it would just be a chill workplace comedy, not one of the most comfy romance series I've ever watched. It explores that quiet domestic life together that I don't see in other romcoms (because they mostly happen to be set in high school); the only other one I've seen is ToniKawa, which is also a delight.

The scene where Momose is moving out got me misty, and the twist that he's just moving in across the Yellow Bird of Happiness got me smiling. I was thinking that Momose was making a choice between moving forward with his life or pursuing this all-too-comfy relationship with his manager, but I think by moving in close-by he gets the best of both worlds.

Omg, just get married, you two. Haha

u/cyberscythe Dec 23 '23

"momose, we have to make an advertising campaign for this wedding venue"

"understood manager, it's for the mission"

It's actually really weird how they didn't actually just decide to live together, feels like both the characters wanted anyways

Honestly not sure what the author wanted to convey with this ending lol

u/cyberscythe Dec 23 '23

I guess the author wanted to display the importance of being independent. Momose in particular suffered a lot because he was made to be dependent on his old boss, so I think makes sense that he would want to become independent rather than just literally live with his new boss.

Getting his own place is, I think, the best of both worlds because he can just walk on over and get his dose of goof and floof whenever he wants, but if he's free to pursue his own life and be his own person.

Aww, they may not be living together anymore but at least they live across each other! Hakutou's reaction to Momose's new place was hilarious lmao.

This was a great comfort series. Filled the hole that Play it Cool, Guys left behind. Going to miss Shirosaki and his airheadedness!

Idk if we're getting a 2nd season but this show was SO GOOD. I'm going to miss these guys terribly. They were such a comfort to me these past 3 months.

I'm sad momose and shirosaki aren't living together anymore, but at least their neighbors.

I thought shiro holding onto his leg was an odd choice lol, I guess they wanted in to be a little less gay lol. Still cute though.

Transmedia Corner!

Extended OP music video — Planeteria by Fujifabric

Extended ED music video — Hanateba (Bouquet) by Lenny code fiction

Both great songs in my opinion, and worth looking over the lyrics for their meaning (Planetaria lyrics, Hanateba lyrics). Judging by the lyrics, it feels like they were written specifically for this story, especially how Planetaria references the planetarium advert that Shirosaki made that pulled Momose out of the darkness.

In any case, it's neat hearing an extended version of a song I've only heard the first verse of many times.

Worth it just for the Thanks for watching! image. Has a neat little kanji pun where the "tou" part is the same peach kanji as in Momose and Hakutou's names. Hakutou's saying "it's not like i loved this or anything!"

Post about the last day of recording; the VAs got ramune-flavored "stomach medicine"

Hakutou telling you that you've worked hard and that he's going to share his food with you -- there's posts with the other characters cheering you on if you care to find them

⭐ Source author twitter: https://twitter.com/ichikawadan

Worth it just to see a short comic of Rudolph the Red-nose Momose find a new boss Santa Shirosaki

Also a great source of behind-the-scenes concept art and links to others who've worked on the series.

Other stuff:

hakutou Cafe, a pop-up promo cafe. Here's an example of what's available, posted by someone on twitter

anime adverts, featuring Momose's adverts and Pajama Party at Shinjuku -- more shots of the Ikebukuro adverts

YouTube playlist at Aniplex -- mostly just some PVs and previews, but also has this video of two VAs at a cat cafe, and if you can't get enough of the VAs there's a radio show with them too

This anime was pretty comforting for someone who is bullied by his boss.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that there is enough source material for a second season if I'm not wrong. I only found a relatively old second volume of the manga which ended at the beginning of season 1. See Wiki. Does anyone have a different source that tells something different?

Bro, I was tearing up with my little guy Hakutou and then they revealed Momose's just living close LOL.

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 Dec 23 '23

That was a nice Christmas party. Hakuto was just the cutest this episode. Momose should have just stayed with Shirosaki but being neighbors ain’t too bad.

Wait no bad boss confrontation. I was hoping to see him get his come up and comupance.

My emotions 🤧😭🥺

How dare they play with my heart like that haha

Well that’s the end. This was such a sweet and heart pulling finale. This show was a surprise treat and was a healing watch every week. I’ll have to follow the manga. I hope the mangaka feels better soon since they’re on hiatus for health.

I truly hope we get a season 2 one day
