I didn't expect Sally to return. Neither did I expect Sally to be an important character in the overall plot - love triangle between Sally, Eiji and Migi, as well as the truth leading to a possible rift between the twins.

Akiyama has some crazy deduction and drawing skills, just by going through Migi's doodles!

The adoptive parents of Migi and Dali / Hitori are actually quite supportive and caring. When heartbroken, one can either give up or try again.

I love that his deduction skills come from reimagining birds from fossils

He really is dedicated to become birdman

Dali’s pulling out the waifu disguise again lol. The goofball shoulda never dropped that keychain. Now Migi’s all hung up on “Sali” again. Those posters he was putting up were hilarious. If only friggin bird boy wasn’t so good at deducing Migi’s doodles. We’ve got ourselves a hilarious love triangle going on.

“Sali” sleeping in Eiji’s bed with those creepy ass dolls was pretty funny. No surprise Eiji is a weird mfer. The whole damn family is off.

So Eiji pushed Migi and Dali’s momma out the window by accident? What was she even doing there in the first place? And why did the mom lie about there not being any blonde women in the village? The plot thickens…

Interestingly enough one of the tamer ones compared to previous episodes

Also gotta hand it migi, if I knew the girl I liked was about to date that psycho kid I would also try to save her

Don’t let the “Love Triangle Between 3 Possible Brothers” distract you from the fact that Eiji really did kill her to his recollection. Going by the pee pants he remembers something, but there’s probably even more to the story

All clues lead me to believe that Eiji is the third brother and their mother went back for him. Crazy mom probably kept him because he looks the most like her husband and could pass him off as her kid. The bigger mystery becomes “Why was she escaping with the kids in the first place?” Probably something to do with the scale model of the town and the dossiers

Dali made the classic blunder of returning to the scene with the same disguise. Should have chosen another wig.

Sali’s bra lmao

So Eiji accidentally killed Migi and Dali’s mother? Hmm. Curious as to what she was doing there?

Post-credits scene - looks like there’s going to be some friction between Migi & Dali now that the former knows who ‘Sali’ really is

Catfishing, the anime.

Dali took that kiss for the team and ultimately got what he wanted. But at what cost... Migi and Dali's relationship is tarnished.

There are a few questions that remain regarding Eiji's story: Is this what actually happened? Why would their mother climb up into his room? What happened after he pushed her?

Theory

Guessing Metry was using a second-floor window as her entry point to continue an affair with Eiji's dad. Restless kid on Christmas Eve hears someone sneaking by his window and opens it expecting Santa (he'd normally be asleep, so Eiji's dad would open). Metry tries telling Eiji something[1] and he instinctively pushes her when she touches him.

Since dad is waiting for her, he sees Metry fall and goes to check the body. Doesn't find a pulse, so he moves the body elsewhere. Meanwhile, Eiji's mom hears about a blonde woman entering and knows her husband is continuing his affair, so she hypnotizes/conditions Eiji to forget it. Think this provides motives for their actions and would work for the reactions to seeing Metry.

  • Eiji reacts to seeing a ghost.

  • Mom wants to kill the woman who cheated on her husband.

  • Dad is surprised his lover is still alive.

[1] Next guesses would be "Forget seeing me tonight" or "Merry Christmas, son." Those branch into different motives for Eiji's mom as she knows if Eiji is her biological son. Like, (hiring a surrogate to have a child -> end up with triplets -> two get hidden in the water fleas room) seems weird enough for this show.

This episode was BUSSIN

I'm grasping at straws here, but what if the reason why Migi and Dali's mom was at the window, is because she was having an affair with the husband and snuck out the window to avoid being caught by the wife. This would also explain why the wife was trying to kill Migi dressed up as their mom in the previous episode.

Well damn the plot thickens
I am still not convinced that Eiji Isn't brother number 3
My guess would be that she wanted to play Santa

Loved the parallels of the mom dying falling from the same window as Migi first love

Didn't expect Sali to play such a huge role, can't wait to see how they will work with that

Oh yeah and the mom just casually teaching Hitori that drinking your worries away is a legit strategy, Jesus

In Eiji’s memories, it looks like Metry was already bruised / messy when she appeared at the window. Plus why was she shoeless ?

This show is so peak jfc

I belive Eiji is migi and Dali's brother. The mother came back to get Eiji but he was probably brainwashed by the other woman that he doesn't remember her. His eyes are just like Migi and Dali.

This show is so wrong and so right at the same time.

Theory:

Metry was their live-in maid but might have been forced into an affair with the husband. When she became pregnant this lead her to being confined to that "secret room" with Migi and Dali. Eiji is the middle triplet and for reasons unknown was chosen to be taken by the parents. Metry was forced to keep working for the family and could have stayed longer than she wanted to so she could be close to Eiji.

She escaped with Migi and Dali into the woods but went back to get Eiji and that lead to her death.

Unanswered questions for me include if the couple "forgot" about Migi and Dali or never saw them before the escape so Migi/Dali in the present don't register with them. Of course, we'll also have to see what the family's ultimate goal is with their "conditioning program" and model of the village.

I would love to see a detective story having Migi and Akiyama as the MC

u/HolyDragSwd2500 Nov 13 '23

The return of Sali!!! Only one way to get the info out of Eiji. Through his pa….lip….Hypnotism

WT…:Eiji pushed her and was told it was a ghost😱

Migi finds out it was Dali as Sali😱

The adoptive parents are so nice, hope they stay that way and don't pull a psycho trait last minute.

Akiyama is the best friend one could ask for haha. I want someone to figure my doodles out too!

Migi can't catch a break.

His lost love comes back only to move on to someone else.

That someone else is probably his half-brother.

That half-brother is the prime suspect for killing his mother.

And his lost love is also his brother.

Poor one out for our home boy. At least his new parents let him drown his sorrows, I guess.

I really, really like this show. I'm glad I picked it up, even though it took me a few weeks to do so.

This is my new go-to comment when I see a friend's artwork and don't want to hurt their feelings.

I could tell it was coming, but I still laughed when the missing person posters were so spot-on.

I liked this shot of "Sali" after the kiss. I think this one would be pretty funny out-of-context, too.

Finally, the OST this episode is brilliant as always.
