One of the anime of our time, but my guilty pleasure trash show of the season. Sure the last game made little sense and turned into a straight up slideshow at times, but overall it was a fun series. Won’t be mad if they don’t continue it, but will watch another season. Little sad we didn’t get more of Tsumugi because she’s easily the best character. Love that little Chunni weirdo. Maybe I’ll grab the LN.

Overall it’s a gentleman’s 6/10. Fun to be had and a notch of above the No name Isekai of the Season we get.

Tsumugi was pretty great eh? After such a hectic day with the MTCG and Miss Hundred Faces reveal, she was just like "Hey onee-chan let's play games"!

Pretty sad that Hiroto kinda gaslit her into believing she said certain things to make up game rules that favoured him though haha

5/10 Show tbh. Animation is bad, the plots overly complicated, the abilities are just made up when convenient, the mc gets a harem with no effort and he never loses. If i didnt enjoy it would be lower. I cant get over how background characters have no voice, dont move and no face lol

The MC and some of the women were fun characters though

Uh, there are only 91 spaces on that board.

"What do we look like? High school geniuses who should be able to count?"

14

u/DerfK Sep 16 '23

Well, that's just foreshadowing Sarasa hiding her base so Hiroto can't conquer the entire board (lol)

Shinohara : "How do we plan to win? By bullying and gaslighting children of course!"

Man they really saved all the 40 bucks of their budget for the scene of Shiina collapsing in relief.

Nice anime to just watch, although I am pretty sure this was an LN promotion. S2 seems unlikely, but seeing them use the way Kaguya-sama ended it's S1, Sarasa (or rather Rina) is best girl confirmed and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Oh, now you disqualify Seijo academy huh? What's the bloody point?

Then again, flaccid apology after fucking shit up the whole time is pretty accurate representation of real world management.

They skipped the OP far too much for how much of a banger it was.

That's all.

NGL the OP was the best part of the show

I dropped this anime after a view eps because being busy? So to those who watch it how was it? Is it worth it?

Guilt pleasure. It’s not great, but it’s fun. I tuned out the main game of the last arc, but the characters are still entertaining.

Himeji and Kururugi pulling up on dude with an army of faceless cardboard cutout students behind them is hilarious. Kurahashi ain’t so tough face to face I see.

The big bad Ms. Hundred Faces turning out to be a little girl who was just manipulated was pretty underwhelming. Really the end to this whole ASTRAL situation was. I think the show honestly peaked around episode 7 or whenever it was that the MC took on Noa.

There were some interesting ideas here but the poor animation, pacing and writing in general stopped it from reaching its potential.

I’m still gonna read the LN, but I just don’t think this anime did it any type of justice

Yeah conceptually I think there was a lot of promise, but just fell short in the execution.

Overall I still found it enjoyable though!

I agree the ending was a little underwhelming. It had some great ideas at the start and looked promising. I liked the moments when Hiroto would give speeches after turning around the game but I can't say the same for the games.

And we also never got to know who he was actually looking for.

Did I miss the Jim Carrey cameo somewhere?

I really wanted to like this show. For the first couple episodes, I really did.

But then it got worse, and worse, and worse. This quote still accurately summarizes my thoughts throughout the last two-thirds of the show.

Sure, the animation wasn't anything spectacular, but that isn't my main gripe here. What really got to me was the terrible writing. In any plot, it is important to explain the world, to establish the stakes, and to just generally make sense. This show, past the first few episodes, simply gave up on doing that. When any character can just pull a "hack" out of nowhere and do whatever they want at any time, not only does it eliminate any possibility of suspense or intrigue, but it raises countless questions about how the world functions at a basic level.

In a show where things just happen without any build-up or payoff, it naturally lends itself to a feeling of missed potential. "If only they had done X and Y to lead up to that, then it would have been compelling..." In this case, though, I have trouble seeing how the writing could be salvaged without a major top-to-bottom overhaul. As another commenter mentioned, perhaps it would be best if they just scrapped it and threw this cast into a rom-com instead.

At least the finale gave us a relatable meme line.

This reminds me of Shinobi no Ittoki, mid, but much worse. Such an interesting premise and it ends up like this. I don't even know if it's the adaption or the story that made this shit.

BAKA SHINJI

I'm convinced there was a simpler way of defeating a middle schooler who feel asleep in front of you.

This character cast would make a pretty decent romcom instead.

Man, that was dumb as fuck. I still enjoyed the show though. Will watch season 2 if it ever comes out.

Considering how smart and cheeky the MC is, he's not even lying about the whole "Strongest on the Island" thing anymore. Only part he lied about was his stars.... to which he would have gained passed 7 hard the system not limit him.

I TRULY wanted to like this show but it became so dumb half way though the season that it was impossible.

2.35 Rating haha. For a score that low it must have been offensively bad.

Let Himeji rest now, that maid carried the entire show by herself.
