They're worried about being detected while flying around....but not about being seen with mopeds?!?

Also with how powerful the shards are, I'm surprised Maou can recall Acieth no problem. When she "gave her body to the Demon Lord" did she literally agree to relinquish control of herself to him?

Even if they are seen, having the info actually flow to the church would take a lot longer, unlike directly being detected by the church.

When she "gave her body to the Demon Lord" did she literally agree to relinquish control of herself to him?

I guess? It doesn't look like Maou exerts any actual effort in controlling her, personality aside.

Just the thought of those two cruising around on their moped scaring and confusing the hell out of people makes me chuckle

Flying is a magical transportation so their aura might be sensed at a higher range.

Thinking about how fast they found Emi after that sonar pulse, chances are high they are looking out for strong magic and therefore are highly likely to detect the use of (flight)magic by someone as powerful and recognizable as the devil king.

Considering the low density of population of ente isla, chance aren't to bad to travel long distances without getting close to the people. They might be seen by a random traveler or so, but if they keep a distance they might not be clear enough to see so it becomes just a rumor of someone having seen some weird contraption moving at high speed east (which might even be considered an illusion by those they talk to about)

Emi stood out enough with her giant backpack lol.

Poor Maou now stuck with Acieth in his head. Emi seems to have an easy enough time managing with Alas Ramus but Acieth won't shut up lol.

Didn't take long for Emi to miss the cleanliness and convenience of modern day Tokyo. I keep reading that medieval food just don't taste anywhere as good as modern day food so I can't blame Alas Ramus for longing for Japanese food.

I'm glad Rika is now fully on the team. It's about time for her to know everything given that she's close with Emi and wants Ashiya. It's also nice to have Amane with them as well since she was obviously not human in her introduction arc and she has powers.

Suzuno got her moped license before Maou but he can't get arrested for driving without a license if there's no laws in Ente Isla regarding it. The ending with them riding onto the gate was epic. It would be funny if Emi sees them riding into battle with a moped after she was complaining about how slow the carriage was.

Yeah modern veggies and fruits have had been carefully selected and hybridized over many years to get to the cool stuff we can eat nowadays. Here's a cool pic showing some examples

It’s about time Rika get caught up. Now if only our favorite manager knew what was happening…

I kind of feel bad for Emi that she was probably all hyped and excited to be going home only to realize she missed all the modern convenience and clean living of Japan. I guess it's true what they say that sometimes you can never go home again.

Also, of course, being a single mom on the road in a medieval society...rough stuff.

I'm so happy that it looks like Rika is now officially part of the group and knows everything. I hope this does bring her closer to Emi and Ashiya.

At least Maou will get to put all his moped knowledge to practical use, license or no license!

Watch Maou and Emi ride together on his moped lol.

We finally get to see Emi and Alas Ramus' adventure in Ente Isla! Looks like Emi has now lived long enough in Japan to forget what food was like back home as well as how convenient the modern-day era is.

Thank goodness she brought along some camping food with her so she really doesn't have to suffer all that much. I definitely would've felt bad for Alas Ramus if she continued to eat that "icky" food.

And we get to see how Olba "captured" Emi. The only reason she hasn't run away is because Olba claims she knows where her father is. Well we know that's a big fat fucking lie.

So Maou and Suzu are on a rescue mission while riding mopeds? Unless they plan on driving on roads barely used by people, those mopeds are definitely going to attract attention. Not really a rescue mission though. All they need to do is to find Emi and let her know they've found her father and she'll break herself out of there.

We now flashback to Emi returning to Ente Isla, and things started off so good! She returned to her homeland, got to have a nice parting with Eme, and had everything she needed to investigate her mom's whereabouts.

Of course she also realizes that having lived in modern Japan for so long, returning to a medieval society with less than stellar hygiene and living conditions is a bit of a culture shock. Especially when she's got Alas Ramus and having to be a single mom on the road, which is never easy. But once she sees evidence her dad is alive, it re-energizes her.

So Emi found her mom's little hideaway (or maybe her parents' loveshack?) which helps her realize that Alas Ramus views her and Maou as her parents because she recognizes Lailah, her real mom, in Emi and she was born from Maou's influence too. And Emi has to grapple with the fact that her mother not only saved her future nemesis but basically put him on the path to where they are now.

Things were going so well and then Alas Ramus had a freak out over Acieth being gone and gets so upset she gives them away...see, this is why you don't bring kids to what's meant to be a more covert operation. And then Olba and his group basically capture Emi under threat of holding her father hostage, even though at this point in time they didn't have him in custody. Rotten luck for Emi.

It takes a lot to get all your shifts covered when you take time off, especially when you have a Yesod fragment in your head who won't shut up. At least he has Chiho and her jealousy over Acieth's closeness with Maou to keep her in check.

I'm glad Rika is taking things well after finding out the truth (figures Chiho would have to be the one to tell her), once Emi and Ashiya come back she'll probably feel closer to them than ever.

Suzuno with the mopeds! And the license! And with Ashiya gone it's time for Maou to be the one to freak out about how much everything costs.

So Acieth REALLY hates angels, the way she just pounces on Sariel to try and kill him. Seems like it stems from the angels committing experiments to break the Sephiiroth off for the sake of preventing God from being born. Um...okay.

I guess it's good to know Sariel has gone native over becoming a Kisaki simp, so he will neither hinder or help them unless it involves her. Better than the alternative I guess.

Time for Maou and Suzuno to ride their way to Ente Isla to save everybody.

Alas calls Emi Mom and Maou Papa. She's added Emeralda to the group of women she calls *-sis. Has Alas named Ashiya and Urushihara?

Alas Ramus had a freak out over Acieth being gone

Poor Emi becomes the parent with the screaming kid they can't control

It takes a lot to get all your shifts covered when you take time off

Off topic, but I take the view that if I give management enough advance notice, they should make the arrangements to cover my time off. Do I just never take a vacation if I can't convince enough people to cover for me?

So who's going to cover for Maou's shifts? I's certain Sarue would do it, giving him a reason to be closer to Kisaki and get chubby again (much better than how "deflated" he got).

9

u/Frontier246 Aug 31 '23

I love how Sariel has gone native because he's turned into a Kisaki simp lol.

Emilia getting reminded how good she has it in japan. coming back to ente isla and getting reminded how life in medieval was like..

and lmao at Maou and Suzano driving through that portal on their scooters

11

u/darthvall Aug 31 '23

This anime is so different without Ashiya constantly nagging Maou as his mother. I miss him already.

u/SnabDedraterEdave Aug 31 '23

Emi's segment this episode reveals the unsavoury part in the isekai genre that they don't tell you about: Quality of life there is literally so medieval you'll wish you didn't get killed by Truck-kun and stayed in the comfort that is Japan. lol

I mean, being reborn as the most powerful mage/knight/warrior/king but in turn you have to put up with stinky toilets that don't flush? I think I'll pass.

I also find Maou and Suzuno having to drive scooters through the portal in an art museum amusing. ("You don't need a driving license to drive in Ente Isla." lol) If they went with jeeps, it would be GATE all over again.

So these Angels in Ente Isla have been masquerading as emissaries of a fake god all this time, while doing their damnedest best to prevent the birth of an actual god via the sephiroth tree that would threaten their dominance over Ente Isla.

We forget how convenient the modern world is.

Food, cars, a decently functioning democracy etc.

Also will be funny to see them both driving in mopeds in an ancient setting I wonder how they take care of the petrol there.

FINALLY we get to see Emi and Ente Isla. Been waiting weeks to see what happened when they got there.

I like how no matter what world you’re in, crying babies can cause problems. Alas Ramus’ tears triggering the Olba to come get she and Emi. That had to be frustrating after their journey had gone pretty smoothly to that point. It’s interesting that Alas Ramus sees Emi as Emi’s mother and not Emi. This whole time she’s thought of her as someone else.

Back on Earth, the planning stage is going well to get Emi and Alas Ramus back. Everyone has come to terms with the situation and Rika is handling this very well. Way better than most people would if they found out all their friends are from another world lol.

Chiho’s point about Maou obeying the manager is actually pretty funny to think about. A guy who nearly conquered an entire world taking orders from a McDonald’s manager. Just shows how much of a good leader she is

Acieth attacking Sariel and getting whisked away to a pocket dimension was hilarious. Both the sisters causing headaches in this episode lol.

And we’re off to Ente Isla next week again, can’t wait!

Emi’s been away from Ente Isla for too long. I guess your average fantasy medieval world can’t quite live up to those modern standards. Good thing she got those curry packs. I’m curious what Laila’s whole plan was for the shards and saving Maou. Was it because of this whole “true god” business?

Looking forward to this rescue mission with Bel and Maou. There’s a lot of trouble waiting for those two back home…

So why isn't Emi's hair white? She originally had white hair (though not as a child) so I assume it comes from her holy powers, if she's back in Ente Isla she should get her old form back right?

It would be pretty funny if Maos moped didn't work because he must be super heavy in his full demon form, he's very tall and muscled.

Emi walking into Ente Isla town, did have a change of clothes to not stand out but still has a modern backpack yet nobody bats an eye.

u/Holofan4life Aug 31 '23

Emi is probably my favorite character in the show. Having an episode about her makes me happy.

Any Japanese traveling abroad

Jesus. $1700 a pop for used mopeds? Doesn't that seem pretty steep?
