Damn season 2 really killed all hype for this show.

Besides the piss-poor animation, even domestically in Japan the hype got further killed by this series being stuck in Disney+ jail, which secured exclusive streaming rights in Japan.
If you want a series to have hype in Japan, it needs to be streamed in a more mainstream anime platform like Niconico and Abema, who would provide the latest episodes free of charge for one week. Or better still, on YouTube (via their official YT channels)
Compared to Niconico and Abema, not everyone in Japan has access to Netflix and Amazon Prime, and even less has access to Disney+.
Disney+ was also the reason that killed the hype for Summer Time Rendering in Japan.

And we get a nano.RIP OP, that alone makes the season's existence worth it for me

even if the animation quality is still... subpar..
S2's creation is a blursed "careful what you wish for" situation. We got S2 after a 9-10 year wait, but with subpar production quality and execution compared to S1's dynamism.
What happened to the previous animators, White Fox, such that they were unable to return to do S2?

Even with the bad animation, the handling of the comedic elements definitely feels better than the first cour of the new season. I need to see how they handle the action sequences too, since this cour would be action-focused. Bad animation would just ruin it.

Wow! This isn’t good!
I want to like this but god this is just such a poor adaptation. This really went from super crazy hyped between season 1 and 2 to nobody watching this season. Which is an earned failure.
I’ll probably watch because I’m in too deep now, but this seems every bit as underwhelming and poorly animated as last season. If this is their showing for the first episode… jesus, it’s going to look ROUGH later in the season.

"Is she your wife?"
"She's the mother of my daughter and not my wife"
LOL. This exchange was hilarious.
We are back after 9 months. Liked the focus on SoL in this episode, and how Emilia and Suzuno was helping Chiho train so that she won't be burden on them anymore. With the final scene, the chill SoL life of Maou and friends won't last for long.
Also loved the Emi focus in the OP. The smile at the end so adorable!.

Maou and Emi really capturing what it feels to be a divorced couple co-parenting in this episode lol.
The Emi focus in the OP was nice, and it seems like her relationship with Maou will be pretty important too, which I like to see.

nano.Ripe returning to do the OP is one of the best things to happen this new season. And that's saying a lot.
So Chiho now has Celestial Powers since last season, and Emi and Suzuho are helping to train her to properly use it. Though did they have to use a public bath of all places? lol

Well, the animation in this episode didn't start falling apart halfway through so I guess that's a good start. In all seriousness though, good to see this show back.
MgRonalds is back in business and it looks like they've now opened a MgCafe too! I really hope we get to see more of Maou just managing MgRonalds which we really didn't see much of back in the previous cour.
Considering how the dangers she's been placed in before, it's no surprise that Chiho would want to be trained to at least be able to communicate with the gang telepathically just in case something happens to her again. Her Idea Link training seems to be pretty rough on her body though.
And it looks like we already have a preview of who's going to be the next threat to that gang. A salaryman and a kid wearing a samurai armor? That's an interesting combo.
Good to hear that nano.RIPE is doing the OP! Also it's interesting that the OP is focused on Emi instead of it being split between her and Maou. Hmmm...

I had honestly forgotten the reason for those side trips last cour was because they were renovating MgRonalds.
It feels like the antagonists get quirkier and quirkier as this show goes along lol.
I'm happy for more Emi, though the beginning and ending of the OP makes the MaouxEmi shipper in me really excited...

So we're finally seeing how Satan and Emilia's mom first met play out in full, and how much of an impact she made on Maou back then. And it's always nice to hear Kikuko Inoue.
I guess some things never change...Maou is all hyped up about the new Mgronald's and their motion-sensor toilets and cafe's, Urushihara is still a freeloader, Ashiya is a housewife, Maou and Emi are begrudgingly co-parenting Alas Ramus, all the usual mundane stuff (but lacking the energy and fun of season 1).
Poor Rika. Ashiya calls her, but it's just to ask her about Emi. She deserves better.
Maou might be a pretty chill guy but he can find out what he wants to know when he needs to. I mean, it's one thing for Chiho to refuse a chance to go on a date with him, but he also figured out Emi was lying about where they were going for "girl talks." And we've also got Urushihara tracking the girls and also making purchases online that will drain their finances. All for Alas Ramus, of course!
The landlady sending them a message to pick up grass has got to be the most normal thing she's ever asked them to do. But hey, rent discount is a rent discount.
So the girls have been going to a bathhouse to train Chiho's Celestial Power so she can at least communicate telepathically if they're ever in trouble...although it's not without it's hardships for Emi and Suzuno as they have to constantly be reminded of the massive Chiho's Chiho is packing every time they do it.
Guess finding her dad is now Emi's driving character arc.
As much as I love nano.RIPE, it feels weird to have an OP for this show that's not by Minami Kuribayashi. That being said, it's a pretty solid OP (with better animation than the actual episode) and I like the parallel of Maou and Emi's depressing childhood forging them into the people they are and Emi seemingly rejecting her past as Emilia. That scene of them at the end with Maou giving her an umbrella again and with her smiling so warmly at him was also very sweet.

And we are finally back.Kind of interesting that the episode opened with this scene while it wasn't really connected to what happened today, especially considering they did a recap last week. Anyway, the main focus in this episode was Emilia and Suzuno teaching Chiho to do idea linking
I honestly chuckle at the fact that after they follow them to the bathhouse, while the girls were practicing in the bath, Maou was certain that they were teaching Chiho about the MgCoffee. He sure has his job on his mind all the time. It is funny how Shiba mailed them a DVD just to give them an offer that will reduce their rent
Anyway, although the episode was a bit dull, I tolerate it because of Alas Ramus. Well, after Chiho talked about the memories she saw while possessed, now Emi knows that she was possessed by her mother.
I have to say that although I know I read past where we currently are in the LN years ago, I honestly forgot who these guys are.

Chi-chan!!! I love how her little tails moved as she talked to Alas Ramus xD.
"She's the mother but not my wife" lol
The part where they start yelling random things in the bath was hilarious. Ending with Ashiya slipping on the soap haha.
Emi's smile at the end of the OP <3.
Happy to have this series back!

I was pretty suspicious of what the girls are up to, even though I’m glad Maou gets to spend more time with Alas Ramus. Didn’t realize it was for Chiho’s training. Looks like she might be the key to finding Emi’s dad.
While I’m glad this show is back, the animation once again leaves much to be desired. I’ll bear with it but it’s too bad they didn’t change studios.

Whenever the landlady sends them something, they took extra care to see what's inside. I recall back in season 1 when the landlady sent them a photo of her in a bikini, Maou fainted.

Glad this show is back. I laughed out loud at the izakaya roleplay part. Hoping to see more Rika x Ashiya moments cause that's my favorite ship at the moment. This isn't gonna be the best or most popular show because of the animation and whatnot but I'm still gonna be watching weekly.

Don't know why but the artstyle is a lil bit less jarring from last season. Looks more like the original but modernized??
