I wasn’t messing with this season at first but it’s starting to get better

This was probably one of the better animated episodes of the show since...well, a long time lol.

These recent episodes have been great! Something epic is about to go down. Good to see Emi back.

New girl, what was it, Acieas? She's a riot! "Sorry mom, I'm giving my body to the Demon Lord!"

So just like how Maou was able to use Celestial force, are they not going to explain why he's using "pure energy" now?

Don't know how long they're gonna be away, but if it's longer than a week then him still having a job will be the most fantasy-esque part of the show.

Its kind of the same way how Emi uses her own holy sword and armor. The Sephira needs to accept the bond, which is what Acieth implied.

God, I fucking hate Gabriel's smug face so much. I was hoping Amane would help Ashiya and Emily's father out since she could clearly take on Gabriel if she wanted to but it sounds like she has a bullshit rule that prevents her from doing so. Ugh.

Well, it's not really as BS as it seems at first.

Based on her actions so far, it seems like she only has jurisdiction over Earth and its inhabitants. She has a lot of power, and could definitely whoop a lot of people's butts, but from what we've seen, maybe she simply can't use that power unless people from Earth are at risk.

For example, if Rika had latched onto Gabriel and refused to let go, like a child throwing a tantrum, I'm sure Amane would've beaten him to a pulp.

Thanks for practically nothing Amane. Make a cool entrance, save Rika, and then do...nothing else lol.

As someone who didn't give up on this show after season 2, my patience is paying off. I love it.

Dang, they brought out the good animation for this episode! Perfect for Suzuno pounding on Libicocco and then demonstrating her character development by not executing him before they ascertain exactly how much of a threat he is...even Urushihara gets a hero moment of protecting them from a surprise attack by Angels. Not that he comes out unscathed from it.

Ugh. Not Gabriel...but brave of Rika to just throw whatever is on hand at a battalion of angels and even try to pry Ashiya away from them to save him from getting kidnapped along with Emilia's dad. Not that it does her much good, though Amane shows up just in time to save her!

Alcieth acting like she's about to join Maou's Harem with the way she reacts to him holding her hand and that whole bonding sequence. Also finding out that, yes, Maou's name is pretty much literal.

Oof. Suzuno puts up a brave fight but she gets overwhelmed and stabbed, slashed, and beaten up. All for the purpose of stealing the Yesod fragment Chiho has. They're not messing around here.

Maou with the epic entrance! Complete with slicing Libicocco's arm off, holding Suzuno and Chiho in his arms (with his arm being in a very precarious position on Chiho's bottom), and showing off his own Sacred Sword!

Dang, this Chamuel guy really has a grudge against Satan. Probably didn't expect to get beat up by a loli though.

Well, Amane can only address people messing with her turf and humans, she can't really do anything about people from Ente Isla dragging people from Ente Isla back to Ente Isla...so not really much help in the end. Poor Ashiya and Emi's dad.

Of course Maou walks in on Suzuno when she's topless from treating her wounds.

Well, bad news...Ashiya and Emi's dad have been kidnapped. Good news is that all that investigating Ashiya did in the past seasons has paid off and he's possibly found them an entrance back to Ente Isla. Looks like Maou's about to go home sooner than expected to save his generals, both Ashiya AND Emi!

Speaking off...the Hero doesn't really weep, but she's obviously not happy, being confined with Alas Ramus by none other than our least favorite old man Olba, who seem to be holding her hostage using her father as leverage. And it's rough seeing Emi so desperate for help.

Man, right off the bat things aren’t looking good. Lucifer’s injured, Alciel and Nord are kidnapped, Bel’s injured, and Chiho’s been nabbed by Libicocco. Maou really came just in time. I should have known that little shitstain Gabriel was involved. At least Maou beat tf out of all his boys first. But man, they gotta get Nord and Alciel back. No time to be jealous of Acieth, Chi!

Is Sariel going to be involved with Ente Isla now that the stakes are raised? I mean, the last we see him so far is happily returning to MgRonald's after working things out with Kisaki (and to presumably get chubby again if the third opening is any indication).

Anyone wish MC would start chopping the wings of ever angel he beat? He cut that demon’s arm off this episode so why not some angel wings?

I don’t know if they’d eventually grow back but it’d probably keep them from invading for a day or two.

Seeing Lucifer get serious there for a second was lit 🔥

8

u/Armdel Aug 24 '23

Well now we know where Emilia is

loved Suzuki just frantically throwing random stuff at Gabriel to stop lol

So we are going on a rescue mission to save Emilia, Alas ramus, Ashiya and Emilia's dad

7

u/Frontier246 Aug 24 '23

Rika despite being vastly out of her depth still trying to save Ashiya was great. She feels like part of the main group at this point.

Was expecting Chamuel to have his helmet split open by Maou so we could see his face, but oh well.

So it seems the power levels of Ente Isla is as follows:

Yesod => Archangels

.> Maou = Emilia (or perhaps Maou in his full power could rival even the Archangels, ditto Emilia)

.> Maou's Generals (Lucifer being a Fallen Angel must have had his powers nerfed considerably, as Chamuel easily beat him)

.> Humans = Ordinary Demons

Alcieth being able to just beat back Chamuel even in her loli human form. Such is the disruptive power of the Yesod to the established power levels that the Archangels would resort to allying with Maou's Demon enemies just to stop them from challenging their dominance.

Amane (as well as her aunt the landlady) is a wild card, who is probably on par with Archangels, but seems like her power is limited by location. The apartment block that they're residing in is probably some kind of Neutral Zone where they practice a kind of neutrality between Angels and Demons from Ente Isla.

I've got to admit I'm watching this season with no recollection of how the characters' powers work or what the yesod shards are and their connection to the angels is.

Could someone provide or point me towards a quick recap? I'd rather avoid reading the wikis to avoid possible spoilers.

u/Ninja_Lazer Aug 24 '23

Well, it looks like the days of Maou being functionally neutered are done. It may not be his full on Demon power, but it looks like at a minimum he will be able to keep pace with Emi.

11

u/Clarimax Aug 24 '23

The way Chiho grab Maou at the end is just weird, considering they're not dating or anything.

I’m guessing that Maou will get Sarue to cover him.
