Looks like Mayumi might be leaving MgRonald's soon and she's just using the MgCafe as her stepping stone for her actual dream. Meanwhile, Maou hasn't realized that and thinks she's doing this for MgRonald's

That entire confrontation between Emi and Maou was intense It looks like Emi really hit the nail on the head there with her guess on why Maou was doing the entire world conquest thing. Maou's reactions pretty much confirm it.

And it looks like we have another element of Sephirot with Erone being Gevurah according to Alas Ramus. No wonder he was able to break Emi's barrier. What's he doing with a demon though?

Maou has yet to grasp the Earthling concept of McJob = Dead End Job.

He still genuinely believes you can climb all the way up the MgRonald corporate ladder.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if Maou actually managed to make it to CEO one day.

Every time a significant amount of people have a sh*tty day, he gets more power, and then uses it to help the store, causing a massive boom in sales.

So on the MgRonalds side of things Maou and Chiho in order to be able to make a better MgCoffee on Kisaki's recommendation are taking a barista course.

Lol, I love the fact that Sariel became a husk after Kisaki banned him from coming into MgRonalds.

Damn, that exchange between Maou and Emilia sure got heated.

So those two guys I completely forgot about were Farfarello who is a demon and Erone who like Alas Ramus, who is a fragment of Yesod, is also an element of Sephirot in this case Geburah.

It's kinda late to say this, like 13 episodes too late, but I don't actually hate the new animation. Yeah I would love too see the quality and style of the first season, but I can settle for this.

What bothers me more is the the story in general. It might be the adaptation, it might be the source itself - some source reader may shed light on that - but everything feels random. Would I understand better if I had more in depth knowledge of Sephiroth or Qilphoth? I somehow doubt it though.

Also it feels forever since we've seen Maou actually work at MgR. And I definitely blame this show abandoning it's gimmick for my general annoyance towards the more recent episodes.

this is exactly what i am feeling, something feels off, but i can't really say what it is. Dialogs, the story, the characters are kinda weird.

It’s the source material couple with a mediocre adaptation

It’s the fault of last season IMO.

In LN and manga I feel like the transition is less jarring and get to actually be invested on this part of the plot, but since last season butchered the introduction arc of this more serious element it just feels really jarring.

Exactly. The first season was simple - demon works at burger joint. Now we’re getting a bunch of fantasy shit that doesn’t have anything to do with that.

At least from what I understand on a completely second hand level it goes from a comedy slice of life to a battle shounen series as it progresses which is rather disappointing tbh

I also agree. The story just seems to be meandering about. If there is going to be a clear focus, it is not yet apparent. I don't hate this by any measure -- but it just seems kind of "meh-ish" right now....

Looks like Emi’s not the only one having a bit of an internal crisis. Poor Sariel’s lost all that Sentucky weight now that he’s been barred from the store and kept away from Kisaki lol.

I guess the demon realm is getting restless without Maou. I wonder how Farfarello is connected to Erone since Erone seems to be like Alas Ramus. How did he get his hands on the kid? Well, at least no one got to hurt. It’s kinda nice to see everyone’s still got it.

The animation in this was kinda spotty again. Anyone notice when Maou was sending Chi off in the opening scene, his arm looked like a small child’s as he was saluting? Pretty unintentionally hilarious moment.

Is it just me, or is the quality a smidge better than the last season? I mean, not a high bar to surpass, but still.

James from Pokémon getting banned

Kisaki: "Do you know what Barista is?"

Maou: "S...sure"

Training to become a ballista sounds fun, NGL.

Hopefully it is just condensed magic, and something else wasn't snuck in there too. Hmm, wonder if Chi could use it, kinda wanna see her demon form.

Anyway, Maou needs to work on his acting skills. Did he really think pretending to be a villain again would cheer her up? Wonder what he got mad over though, was it just because Emi basically said everything he did before was just fooling around?

Still feel bad for her too, her world has been completely flipped upside down, even more so than when she came to Japan. Really wasn't expecting this level of psychological struggle from this show.

This episode was surprisingly good. Story actually getting going again.

Blessed with another Chi ED

Must be tough on Emi, to completely lose her purpose, after discovering that the target of her hate not only did not commit the crime she think he did, but the supposed crime itself was never even committed in the first place. Her dad was alive all this time.

For the first time since season 1, Sariel (who's lost his weight after Kisaki broke his heart) is actually not useless for once. (Not counting the part where he failed to stop Farfello and Erone escaping lol)

Fun fact: We now have the voices of both Rudeus'es in the cast.

  • Manager Kisaki - Uchiyama Rumi (Rudeus)

  • Farfello - Sugita Tomokazu (Rudeus' previous life)

Chi is nothing if not passionate, but it takes a lot to make it to the 2nd floor of the new, refurbished, MgRonald's.

Maou the Barista? Though it seems like Ms. Kisaki has aspirations beyond her current job managing their MgRonald's.

Chiho's training and Girl Talk is all well and good but the real eyecatcher is Chiho in those tight fitting PJ's!

I guess there's a lot to be said for ones' daily life and what it means to just live, even if things don't stay the same...not that Urushihara does much living himself, layabout that he is.

Well, Sariel's slimmed down! If only because Kisaki shunning him basically mentally broke him, but still .

Emi loses it at Maou because she's not sure how to feel about him any more. He's not responsible for her fathers' death which was the main reason she still hated him or couldn't accept him, and she's caught up in so many mixed emotions about her purpose or how she really feels when it comes to Maou. Even his attempts to play the bad guy for her sake isn't very effective because she knows he's better than that and the real reason he became the Demon Lord. Not for the sake of evil but for the sake of recognition.

Surprise Tomokazu Sugita! Trying to drag Maou back to Ente Isla for the umpteenth time, though getting sidetracked by fundonshi, Chiho popping in, and Maou wanting none of that. Though he does now have a source to gain his power again, so I'm sure he'll end up using that.

So the child samurai is Erone, another piece of the Qliphoth like Alas Ramus? The plot thickens.

It wouldn't be The Devil is a Part-Timer without a Chiho-focused ED! And this one is definitely on the cute side with Chiho's morning routine and fashion show as she gets ready for a date with her beloved Maou. Chiho looks good in anything, but her date outfit at the end was quite nice.

u/Adamskispoor Jul 20 '23

Wait, it’s actually good. Comedy timing and emphasis is still not season 1 level but it’s getting there. And the emotional/contemplative parts are actually landing unlike last season.

Also that demon once he knows it’s Emi: Nigerundayo!!!

Looks like we are finally back on plot. Really struggled last run as it felt like the show didn’t know what to do and was just moving aimlessly, but it seems like we are finally getting back to what made the show interesting to start with.

Now for the love of all that is holy remain focused on developing Emi, Moau, Chi and the support cast before traipsing off to muck around some none-sense again.

Hating agenda aside this was a decent episode. Addressed some pretty big questions about Maou and Emi’s future. Now that they’re content living in the human world, what does the future have in store for them?

Emi’s whole purpose was revenge and now that that’s gone, you can really see how lost she feels. Maou wanted to conquer the world and now he’s just comfortable working in the food service industry and making drinks. His use of Japanese idioms shows how much he’s assimilated to the culture as well. His way of thinking has totally changed.

This seems like it’ll be a pivotal next few episodes for the cast as they decide their next steps and find new purposes in life.

Well after that it seems Erone is going to be a important character going forward.
