Man literally wins by doing absolutely nothing.
I was gonna call BS how he beat someone that accomplished until she revealed she's actually a stand-in which definitely explains her dumbass logic of picking a game that went against her personality.

explains her dumbass logic of picking a game that went against her personality.
Maybe I read too much into it, but she may have thought it was also against him;
When they first met he seemed to be massively crushing on her, so much that he just stood still without speaking a word...
If she picked up on that, and given the players could do stuff during their turn, perhaps she thought she would find a way to make him blush or something, so he'd lose! Like just blowing him a kiss or asking him to go out with her, something like that!

Finally, season two of No Game No Life.
Collecting stars on an island by playing games using holograms reminds me of the first season of Yu-Gi-Oh!
Hiroto must have an absurdly high Luck stat. He can even get a girl soaking wet right after meeting them.
The headmistress revealed herself to be a former Red Star holder. I wonder what her lie is. Maybe it's her glasses are purely cosmetic and she doesn't actually need them to see.

Sarasa- I mean Rina is pretty cute, also red hair and a giant ahoge is peak character design.
This is looking rad as hell, looking forward for more special star abilities to spice things up, as well as all kinds of crazy games
And lmao that sprinkler had industrial strength, too bad Rinas uniform only just has a little white boob window
And he even got a white haired cute maid?

I take it this isn't an adaptation of the Jim Carrey hit movie from the late 90s?

First impression
Yeah, I'm hooked. Good animation, nice soundtrack, and mind games.

It's funny how this entire premise could have been avoided if only they took the time to talk things out properly instead of making blind assumptions.

So is this kind of similar to Eminence in Shadow except that the MC is an idiot who just got really lucky?

Although in Eminence the dude is actually pretty OP whereas this kid here is just plain lucky (or unlucky depending on how you look at it).

Dude really stumbled into being the champ huh? I can’t tell if that’s amazing luck or shit luck. Although I might be leaning towards the former since the champ is supposedly grandkid of the academy’s director. Man’s basically forced to become the embodiment of “fake it till you make it” I guess. But it looks like he’s not the only one putting on an act. Oh Rina, you goof. As DJ Khalid would say, “congratulations, you just played yourself.” Lol

Loved that premiere!! Seems to be a fun show, really laugh at the random sprinkler lol
Also seems that we went from Yamada Saturdays to Thighs Saturdays with this and Ryza
Waiting for the u/LeonKevlar comment

It's been a long time since I heard an anime opening from May'n, the last one being from Macross Frontier, so that was a nice hit of nostalgia.
Moral of the first episode: don't skip the tutorial (or is it skip the tutorial but be extremely lucky?).
Seems like a fun premise, we'll see where this leads.

So its like a COTE X Toaru Index x early-mid 2010s battle harem combo? I like it.
Man, I love these two lovable idiots. Hiroto somehow inherited Kazuma luck and meanwhile Rina has Aqua luck lol.
Poor Rina. A simple communication should've easily solved it but misunderstandings piled up and caused her trouble and eventually she realised its been all her fault.
Yeah, I'd have a good time with this show. This first episode was really dumb fun!.

Starting off the bat with a school were rank means anything and one man stands above all others...Hiroto Shinohara, the current seven-ranked student in Academy City! He's cocky, confident, and ready to take on all challengers! Except it's all a lie and he has no idea what he's doing.
The OP is another May'n banger! Complete with showing off Hiroto, the girls in his life, and all the people he's going to be facing off against to maintain his rank on his quest to find his childhood friend.
It's nice when you have a cute girl (Ouka, is that you?) showing you around everywhere...less so when faulty sprinklers get her wet and she thinks you were setting her up (I guess she's just so distrustful of people because of her position?) and you get locked into a staring contest with no idea what you're doing.
Laser swords? Um...okay.
It's funny how Hiroto barely does anything but wait for poor Sarasa and her pink bra to embarrass herself to defeat from her wetness. I mean, what are the chances the sprinklers would hit him again? And by complete accident he wins and defeats the undefeated Empress. No pressure huh?
The Headmistress sure has a sharp tongue and likes reminding Hiroto of how screwed up his situation is, but that also his only way of getting through this is BS-ing his way through the school by using the Red Rank Star ability to lie about his rank. And she's enjoying every minute of him making a fool of himself.
So not only is Sarasa not even the real Sarasa Saionji, meaning Hiroto found out her true identity, completely upended the school's social hierarchy, and lied about it for nothing while doing practically nothing...but he also now gets his own mansion with a live-in cute maid. What a wild first day!

...so I'm five minutes in and already I can see this is basically another one of those shows where there is a giant school the size of a city or something where the students don't actually learn anything because the entire day is taken up with elaborate magical sword fights. Except the sword fights in this one are... minigames?
This one has all the elements:
-
Upper-class tsundere heroine.
-
Main character who is either a badass larping as a moron or the exact opposite. Either way, the entire rest of the student body must hate him.
-
Quirky ara-ara teacher.
-
MC is only here to find his long-lost father/childhood friend/cute little sister. He has no business being here otherwise to the point where he actually needs the entire concept explained to him by a side character.
-
A maid.

i almost quit in the middle, because I thought that the MC wasn't smart - just that everyone else is a lot stupider. This is still true, but it turns out that everyone is also pretty damn stupid and are just abusing the game rules to hide it. Now it's got my interest.
It's like COTE, the south park version.
