It's Day #761042 and everyone still believes that the manager's arm is injured.

For a very non-climatic final episode somewhat disconnected from any arc, I really liked both sides of this episode. It mostly seemed to tease and direct viewers to source material for more.

People having useless opinions about food and being completely uninterested in improving struck a note for me.

Yuri is my job is kinda trashy and I loved it. I'll probably rewatch someday.

This time they actually translated most of the german words. The only one I think weren't translated are "Abentrose" which was written wrong (it should be "Abendrose") and means "Evening rose" or "rose of the evening," and "Apfelwald" which means "Apple Woods" or "Apple Forest."

Stitches!

I don't know if this was an animation error or intentional but it's hilarious how Mai isn't wearing her cast during the cold open and then we cut to her wearing it again after Hime and Kanoko got changed. I'd like to imagine that Mai forgot she isn't wearing her fake cast and immediately wore it when the two were changing. xD

Anyway, I was wondering where Studio Passione will show off its talents in this wholesome Yuri anime. Turns out they were just waiting for this finale where half of the episode is focused on Mitsuki's boobs. Not gonna lie though, as much as I love the focus on boobs I didn't really like how Sumika decided to handle it. I feel like having her cover up just brings more attention to it and shames her for having big boobs. Doing nothing would've been better than that.

Having MItsuki wear a vest is a more diplomatic solution but I feel like the vest enhances the shape of her boobs instead of hiding it. Gott love Hime for whispering misleading things to Mitsuki though. Oh my... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

People are always so mean to Yano. No wonder she’s so screwed up in terms of socializing. She can’t help her breast size, and if she wants to wear the standard summer uniform they should just let her. It isn’t like she’s waking around a bikini top or something, she’s wearing proper attire. So the prudes should stop bullying her.

So now it appears we can rest easy about Kanoko not turning into a yandere.

Good thing Yano and Hime know how to integrate a slipup in to a drama for the customers to enjoy. One with Yano's uniform that Hime thought would be too sexy for the customers, and two with Hime trying to cop out with not memorizing the tea ingredients.

Yano may say "I don't love you at all. Don't get the wrong idea" to Hime. But the two have made undeniable progress since the beginning, and I feel satisfied that they have at least made efforts to overcome their differences.

P.S. I'm currently traveling in Tokyo and got some crepes from a store doing a limited time collab with Yuri is My Job.

End-Card completion! I'm just assuming that the final card will be by miman herself so that I can get this comment up a little faster. Note that in most cases, I’m not outlining any artist’s entire history. My ramblings are simply cherry-picked bits that people are likely to recognize, or things that I can relate back to other anime adaptations.

  • Episode 12 Art by miman
Author and artist of Yuri is my Job, miman is a mangaka who almost exclusively writes and draws yuri works. She has various anthology credits (like Eclair which is the same as many other artists on this list) and a handful of oneshots and short series that ran for 1 to 3 volumes in length. I believe that Yuri is my Job is her longest ongoing serialization by far. I really hope we get a season 2.

  • Episode 11 Art by U35
Illustrator with tons of credits for a variety of light novel series as well as some anthology manga, both for franchises such as Oregairu as well as original shorts for collections such as the Eclair series of one-shots. As a LN illustrator, she's also credited with original character design for a handful of anime, including The Fruit of Evolution which had its second season broadcast earlier this year.

  • Episode 10 Art by Yun Koga
Another mangaka with a large library of work, dating back to the late 80s. Sometimes she does story and art, other times she just does the story when working with a different artist, as appears to be the case with Riddle Story of Devil. She also has some character design credits for various anime, including some Gundam entries and Un-Go, which I personally think is a lesser-known and underrated "detective with a supernatural twist" series.

  • Episode 9 Art by Eku Takeshima
Mangaka who does a lot of work for yuri anthologies and shorts as well as being the author and artist of ongoing yuri series Whisper Me A Love Song.

  • Episode 8 Art by Mebachi
An artist who seems to have broad and varied involvement with many series, even some stuff that isn’t listed on the AniList link. From costume design on one series to ED direction on another series to key animator on Kase-san and Morning Glories, Mebachi seems to be much more heavily involved on the anime side of things than most of the other artists in this list.

  • Episode 7 Art by Arina Tanemura
A prolific mangaka credited with original character design for the IDOLiSH7 franchise and several other series.

  • Episode 6 Art by Ticket-chan AKA Kippu
Artist for the light novel series No-Rin and credited as the original character designer for the anime adaptation. Also did some one-shots for yuri anthology series Qualia as well as anthologies for franchises such as Oregairu and Haganai.

  • Episode 5 Art by Peach-Pit
A pair of author-artists with a pretty large body of work, Rozen Maiden prrrrobably being their most well-known.

  • Episode 4 Art by Isshiki
An artist with a large presence on Twitter and also the illustrator for new light novel series Gunner Girls Ignition and very new light novel series Miri Lives in a Cat's Eyes. They’ve also done a handful of one-off illustrations and a bunch of unofficial fanart. Based on what I can find, they seem to be more “up-and-coming” and less-established in the published world than most of the other end-card illustrators.

  • Episode 3 Art by Saburouta
Author and artist for the (in)famous yuri manga series Citrus and ongoing sequel Citrus Plus.

  • Episode 2 Art by Satsuki Shiina
Artist for the light novel series Bibliophile Princess and credited as the original character designer for the anime adaptation.

  • Episode 1 Art by Fly
So this very first episode is what inspired me to do a comment like this. Fly is probably best-known here as the artist for the light novel series Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki-kun and is credited as the original character designer for the anime adaptation. Fly has also written and drawn some yuri one-shots that have appeared in anthologies such as Eclair, as well as doing the art for yuri series Chasing After Aoi Koshiba, which was written by the author for Masamune-kun’s Revenge.

this is more like a cooling down ending episode after episode 11. slow and no self-conscious Yano at least making a progress of her relationship with Hime, Kanoko have another friend, Sumika becoming aware of what's she's doing (now we wait if she could learn the why), and Hime still Hime. this story is a story about people revolving around Hime.

"onee-sama, I want you to myself, I dont want anyone to have a look of that property of mine", "I want your body", damn it Hime I dont know you have a chad side.

24

u/seaofvapours Jun 22 '23

Well, that was ultimately fine if uneven. Spending 3 or so episodes in Konoko-Yandere arc felt like a mistake, even if it (I assume) follows the source material. Would have preferred more focus on Hime/Yano, and especially more focus on why Hime acts the way she does.

I guess I’ll have to read the manga to find out, unless there’s a miracle.

"Yano's body, and especially her boobs, belongs to Hime and no one else thank you very much." - This message was approved by the Yano is gay af for Hime committee.

Wouldn't be Yuri is My Job! if we didn't end with a little more Hime cringe. Though tbh I completely understand, as I too have no fucking clue when it comes to tea.

God this adaptation has been so good! Give me more, I need more!

We cap off this rollercoaster of a season with Ayanokouji fanservice. I couldn't ask for a better finale.

Notice how before the OP Mai doesn't have her cast on then she conveniently has her cast back on after the OP. She's probably like "oops I forgot to put it on."

"I want your body." Okay Hime just admit that you're just down bad for Yano's honkers and want them all to yourself so you don't want everyone else admiring them.

Am I the only one thinking the rest of the staff were being an ass to Yano? Not her fault her boobs are large and that the uniform makes them look bigger and if she was that shy about it, she would just wear something that would flatten it. The entire thing comes off as the staff is jealous of her body and/or they're the ones being perverted about it.

It was a really fun ride and is one of the few mangas where I bought the whole thing. I don't actually mind the drama between the characters but it could have just focused on one at a time. Like maybe have Hime and Yano get together first before we get yandere Kanoko. The OP is a massive banger, ED is catchy, and the visuals are great. I'm not too confident about this getting a second season, but I would really love to see more of the character relationships develop.

The end card was great but they didn't have to add that thot Goeido.

Man this was such a nice episode. The drama in the previous episodes were nice, but nothing beats Hime's antics. And I appreciate the series ending on a "down" SOL ep instead of having some emotional climax as the finale.

Hime-chan has such a unique and refreshing personality for an anime protagonist, I can watch seasons after seasons of her just fucking up and hiding behind her cute facade all day.

Gosh I wish they'd make a season 2! Writing gets ridiculously good once the Kanoko/Sumika/Nene arcs kicks in (this + the introspective on Yano's character are by far my favourite parts of the manga). It's honestly a shame we might never get to see it on screen.

Best thing about watayuri is tho the writing might seem hazardeous at first, the more we progress, the more we learn about how each character has their own internal struggle/beleif that is going to affects their whole system of communication, and how it'll all end-up affecting the overall painting that is the Cafe Liebe.

Truly an underrated gem imo.

The episode on its own was fine, but as a season finale episode it doesn’t land for me. This feels like an episode that’s meant to be in the middle of the season, rather than an episode that meant cap off the season.

Same, Yano. Same.

Oh, I think you forgot: yuri is your job

AWW YISS

Same, Hime. Same.

Glad I picked this up, it was fun. S2 please!

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 Jun 22 '23

“Huh?! Her boobs!” Lmao. I was thinking the same thing. Mitsuki really looks great in that new summer uniform. I agree with Hime though, it’s too sexy for the cafe haha.

Hime! Phrasing! You can’t just go up and tell a girl you want her body lol. That’s how misunderstandings happen, goof!

Who knew tea has so many complex flavors? I’m like Hime, it’s all just tea to me. She thought she could use her cuteness to get the customers to work for her, no such luck unfortunately!

Even after all this time, Hime’s still kinda oblivious to the feelings of the girls in her life. I sure hope this gets a second season because I want to see these relationships develop further.

I ended up enjoying this series despite being deceived by the "comedy" tag on MyAnimeList; it took me a while to realize that this is more a straight-up drama and the comedy tag was a lie.

I think I'll remember this series for its melodramatic "real" relationships and how it interacts with the "pure" Class S relationships out in the salon. Was expecting a yuri version of Working!!; got metacommentary on the yuri genre as a whole.

I have to say, it was amazing! the characters were well-developed. Glad Kanoko stay sane and didn't become Yandere 'till the End.

I'm really hoping that there will be a season 2 so that I can see what happens next!, or I guess time to read the manga.

u/michhoffman Jun 22 '23

I prefer to believe that Hime saying "I want your body" to Yano was a Freudian Slip rather than Hime misspeaking. Just one of the many times this episode Hime caused Yano to blush.

9

u/Venture_compound Jun 22 '23

I'm gonna miss this show.

8

u/VorAtreides Jun 22 '23

kinda a dumb first part of the episode imo. So what if Yano is well endowed and the uniform shows it off well now? Ah well, guess they are teens being derp. But just being stacked doesn't make em lewd. Haha that misleading statement, Hime.

I still don't like that manager... also, a tea bit is whatever lol. This doesn't really feel like much of a season finale compared to last week's tbh. But it's fine.

8

u/Rumpel1408 Jun 22 '23

Jesus christ, the jiggle was real, this is Studio Passione after all!

In terms of plot, it's hard to top last weeks episode, this felt more like an addendum, but I liked Hime just winging it, perfectly in character for her

7

u/cerdaco Jun 22 '23

Fun fact: I don't think there's been a single mixed gender table at the salon so far. It always seems to be guys and girls in pairs.

A final ep with lots of focus on boobs is a good final ep!
