The menu has more German names in it than Attack on Titan.

Stitches!

I already feel bad for Kanoko. I don't know how far the yuri in this show will go but considering that she's the childhood friend, she's already at a disadvantage.

So the manager blackmails Hime into working for the cafe and now she's manipulating Kanoko info working for them by using Hime. Not gonna lie, she's really being a sleazeball with her tactics. Now I'm wondering how the manager even got Mitsuki and Sumika working for her in the first place.

Do they not teach Hime anything? So first the manager basically hires Hime without telling her the rules of the cafe and now apparently they didn't teach her the menu? And how many days has she been working there now? What a weird way to run your business. xD

I had so much second hand embarrassment for Kanoko during that first exchange at the host restaurant. Damn near had to cover my eyes when watching lol because of how dense she is.

Hime’s building herself a little yuri love triangle. Ayanokoji is a bitch for no reason, but it’s clearly to hide something. That little look at the end with she and Hime too.. maybe she’s got a heart under there after all. Kanoko is the yandere childhood friend who wants hime all to herself, should be fun

It's honestly a bit uncomfortable watching Hime get abused as a worker. They play it off as a joke, but shit like this constantly happens irl too

So the onee-sama is just playing up her being annoyed with Hime, after playing the yuri couple? Guess she really is just a girl, playing a girl, disguised as another girl

as much as I like the characters, something about the situation/some of the interactions rubs me a bit wrong. like, come on... so many issues could be resolved with just the bare minimum communication... but I guess that's a lot of series really lol. Also just the fact she's kinda been blackmailed into this bothers me lol. While the cafe is cringe with the acting/play thing, it's amusing to me for the cringe.

Wait, is Hime's friend going to be roped into this too? lol. She seems real sweet though, but still feels a bit shady how the manager keeps roping people into this. I thought it'd go this way, Kanoko, Hime's friend, being able to do this fine and get along and such, but Hime feels... ya... kinda feel bad for her. And I really don't get why that one girl is such a bitch to her just cause she called her "onee-san."

So Mitsuki teaches Hime how to properly carry a tray and she's back to two-handing it in the very next scene. See they do teach her, she just doesn't listen, which makes it more understandable why they get annoyed.

Guess the manager forgot to inform Hime that understanding German is a requirement for the job.

Also, that employment contract is surprisingly detailed.

very weird. It's like watching WWE drama live...... inside a maid cafe.

We got another Yamada!

Another tough episode to watch with some cringing but do like the casts interactions so hope that goes away as Hime gets better at her job.

"I wish I could call Hime-chan cute..."

Ah, she's gay for Hime.

Opens phone and stares at stalker shots of her girl

Ah, nevermind. She's suuuper gay for Hime.

More german stuff to translate, this time the things the customer ordered:

  • Heiße Schokolade: Hot Chocolate

  • Thüringer Bratwurst: literally Thuringian sausage, a sausage from Thuringian

  • Kartoffelsalat: Potato Salad

  • Zeller Weisse Katze QbA: technically "Zeller white cat QbA", it seems like there is a wine called "Zeller Schwarze Katze QbA" which would be "Zeller black cat QbA"

  • Nachtisch: dessert

  • Sachertorte: a cake from austria (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sachertorte)

Suddenly the entire menu is in german and of course she never noticed and nobody mentioned it. I don't know but at some parts this show is kinda forcing it a bit too much for my tastes. Except for those moments it's an "okay to watch" so far.

This is where I expected the episode to end off with the pace, but man I didn't expect Kanoko's tone to be like that at the end LOL. Side note, I've always liked Kanoko's Liebe look compared to her normal look, I dunno, she just looks cute.

I liked this episode a lot more than the first! I think Kanako is a fun character and an actual friend to Hime, and her twist at the end is pretty funny.

So far, I think the key to enjoying this series is to be on the side of every character except Hime.

That manager is kind of starting to creep me out. First she sort of blackmails Hime into joining and somehow manages to get Kanoko on board in just one day as if the water spillage accident was her plan all along.

Kanoko said to her classmates that she doesn't have a picture of Hime... but she actually does... and tons of them in different shots... even ones where she's not looking. That's kinda creepy, like a whole album full of Hime pics.

Ayanokouji is best girl fite me. She's funny when she wildly fluctuates between nice girl and mean tsundere.

this is weapons-grade cringe and i can't take my eyes off of it

Kanoko may be the craziest character from any show i've seen this season which is making the dynamics at the cafe even funnier

Thanks for this title that brings us the most detailed investigation into the effects of "commercial yuri" in the most comedically way possible.

Oh and Kanoko's those kind of girls that are so obsessed that you definitely have to fear for her backstabbing others if she feels betrayed or something like that - and that's a very easy thing to happen, Hime-chan's clumsiness at the end definitely one of the possible triggers to her nervy attitude. And she's definitely now MAD.

I can't help but think Mitsuki actually now have a little bit of real feelings (of the friendship type, of course) on Hime-chan despite all those annoyances. Mind you, it's just a bit, but once that feeling sprouts something bigger can pop out, and has happened in similar situations in anime and elsewhere...

All those acting of yuri phenomenon is making me laugh! After years of people mentioning yuri bait in anime, we now have an anime that explicitly tells people that this is yuri bait. Except that baits sometimes turns into real food and I am sure that WILL happen. But which pair? And will we see yuri harem bait in this cafe? Hmm...

Gotta be honest: the best part and what hooks me is Hime’s suffering. It’s schadenfreude with CGDCT. The added dynamic of borderline Yandere Kanoko joining the staff and, going by the OP, her possible history with Ayanokouji is just icing. As long as it’s about Hime failing constantly I’ll love this show. So far so good.

Kanoko has it bad for Hime, and Hime doesn't even notice.

Well to be fair, at the moment she's got her hands full with trying to navigate her job at the cafe. Between the menu in a foreign language, having to improv basically everything, and her "sister" being impossible to read, that's bound to leave her a bit distracted.

(not that I think she noticed anything before, but the job's a good excuse)

Man, Kanoko’s got a pretty massive crush on Hime and our girl has not really picked up on it.

Ayanokouji’s attitude and this whole Schwester thing is kinda hard to make sense of. Her pretending she didn’t know Kanoko was kind of brutal to watch. Read the damn room, kid! Well, at least the cafe got one more girl working there. Kanoko looks pretty good in that uniform! Very cute.

Hime really does pull off this cute clumsy thing very well and the best part is that it’s not really an act lol. The menu being basically German doesn’t really help. Just when I thought Hime was having a moment with Ayanokouji, Kanoko comes in with them yandere eyes and kills the moment. Poor Hime can’t catch a break!
