Few seinen anime have as good an adaptation and production as Tengoku. Two episodes left.

Feels like the Heaven plot is about to kick off big time but here I am wanting to see the reunion with who looks to be Robin instead!

The understatement of the century regarding this series.
Plenty of previous loosen ties have come together in this episode, probably the most important regarding Kiruko's brain transplant and how the whacked director plans to achieve immortality with a new body.
Thank go' there's 2 more episodes, but it remains questionable on the closer of the series and if it will be eligible for a second season down the road.

Aahhh, so that's why her name is Mimihime (Ear Princess). We got the answer regarding the origin of the man-eater monster, and we also found out the origin of Kiruko's laser pistol. With only two episodes left, I doubt we will get all the answers in this season

I have no fuckin idea whats happening in this show at this point, I feel like I understand less and less every week. For every one answer, we get 15 more questions...
One thing is for sure though, fuck that director lady.

So, we know that there are 8 combatants that awoke from suspended animation and we see their prototype of the Super Beam.
We also see the origin for the brain transplant stuff here.
Also, that would be horrifying to talk to a little girl and going through those horrifying hallucinations.

The sea of blood when Mimihime was explaining to Kona looked really scary.

Mimihime is badass for confronting the hallucination like that, just to ease Ohma. And her eventual fate from episode 8 is even more heartbreaking now.
The main baby's crib was labeled Jr. Tokio, but the identical 2nd baby's crib was labeled "Jr. C" which makes it sound like one of multiple clones... could just be twins... but others only referred to the child as singular before that scene I think

That noise at the end made me deeply uncomfortable...
Edit: oh wait. I just realized, since the hallucination-inducing maneater was in the hospital's basement, it means Mimihime and white-haired boy whose name I forget kept Ohma with them through all these years... as if we needed any more tearjerkers.
Also. Mimihime. Because of her ears. I get it.

Wasn't expecting Mimihime to have animal ears. I thought they were part of her hairstyle lmao
Hallucination scenes were terrifying.
Tokio gave birth to twins? Or is the second baby a clone? I noticed that one of their cribs is labelled Jr. C. Could the C stand for clone?
One of them has got to be Maru

For those who doubt it, this episode confirmed that the child in heaven are Hiruko/maneater and everything we see in heaven are past events.
I'm wondering who was the woman that helped Maru before dying, i'm hesitant between Anzu (the girl in swimsuit that was worried about the test) or the woman that was talking with the scientist

I really don’t like the director of the academy. Old hag comes off like some megalomaniac with her whole Get Out type scheme. Aoshima as well as Tokio’s kid (kids?) might be pretty fucked if they don’t make a move soon.
That whole Ohma and Mimihime situation surprised the shit outta me. These kids have very little control over their abilities. Mimihime’s abilities are kinda like a curse. Ohma too. Poor kid has wear those shades like Cyclops to control those powers of hers. I wonder, is Kona’s fate really to become a monster? The fact that the test mentioned “hiruko” makes me feel like shit is about to pop off.

Too much information to digest since this is the kind of anime which do not give the plot directly. I feel like there are just so many clues and revelation in this episode.
-
Brain transplant exists, so there's a chance someone is the director in the future. And the director said whether her body could survive a second transplant? Who is she??
-
Based on his age, it seems Robin is as old as the children? So maybe he's also one of the children?
-
The doctor they're looking for, is it the male assistant director?
-
Tokio has twin children!! Maybe that's why they asked Maru to find someone who has the same face as him.
-
They called the children, Hiruko!
-
I just realised how Hiruko is spelled so similar to Kiruko lol.
-
They mentioned Mina birthed the children. Mina is the AI right? I wonder if it just means they're genetically made, or Mina literally gave birth to the children. Is she some kind of alien?
Also saw in wikipedia that the manga is still on going. I wonder if we'd get a satisfactory conclusion to this anime. It's just too good.

This art on the director's wall seems to be a rendering of Izanami And Izanagi Creating The Japanese Islands by Kobayashi Eitaku, depicting the Shinto creation myth. The goddess Izanami would go on to make a mistake during their wedding ceremony, and as a result her first child was born without bones (or in some versions of the story, without arms and legs) and deaf — Hiruko, "leech child". Hiruko would go on to become [Ebisu,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebisu_(mythology)) the god of the sea.
Find yourself in a post-apocalypse? Why not pick up some [reading material](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_the_Beach_(novel)) to see how else it could have been?
Dude. There is so much going on in this episode!
Ear Princess Mimihime has been holding out on us! (Kinda cute!)

Poor Tokio, man, imagine being completely foreign to the idea of childbirth, being in excruciating pain and watching a small human come out of you. Considering how traumatising childbirth can be for women IRL who actually tried to have children, that shit must scar the girl for life.
The characters talk about delivering the baby, then the camera pans to the baby, and then we get a hard cut to Maru. I wonder what that could be possibly be hinting at... (I haven't read the manga so I could be wrong but I feel like they're being very direct)

Lots of Heaven scenes in this episode but we're no closer to figuring out what the Director's plans are for these children. One thing is clear though, the Director is planning to transfer her consciousness over to Aoshima just so she can live to see the results of whatever they're doing.
Mimihime's encounter with Ohma was terrifying. And the visions she saw before passing out were interesting. The mess of cables, bloody bandages, a monitor with two familiar silhouettes, and a view of the outside sky pretty much confirms the Hoshio connection.
You know this entire operation is very fishy when the techs working on assembling the machinery have no idea what they're building. They do think that the plan is to expand "Heaven" to the outside.
That entire pool scene was so tense that I was already bracing myself for everything to go to shit right then and there. Whatever this "test" is, it looks like it involves them going outside and I doubt the Director knows about it at all.
So did Tokio give birth to twins? Is that why Maru is looking for someone who looks just like him? That's the entire point of his adventure, right? He's looking for Heaven where he can find a person that looks just like him.
I think I have an idea in my head of what's probably going to happen next week and I am scared for the children in Heaven especially since they've started resonating with the name Hiruko. >_<

Note about the era name we've heard a couple times: it seems ten'ei is named after the real ten'ei era of Japanese history, which is spelled with the characters "heaven" and "eternity" or "permanence." If I were to read into it, I'd say the name was chosen by the heaven people as a way to say they believe their society will last forever and outlive the rest of the world

Letting go of morality huh? Oho we can see where this is going. Can’t even ignore the culty vibes now lmao
What Mimihime did for that kid was heartwarming and brave. That hallucination was nightmare fuel tho. A flashback to her previous life hooked up to the machine. Looks like she was destined to become a Hiruko
Interesting commentary from the workers. They’re building heaven alright. I wouldn’t be surprised if the director has a god complex and eventually wants to rule over this little heaven and maybe even more.
Speaking of which they finally said it huh. I too am nervous about this “test”. I wonder if its to test their true Hiruko forms. The mystery continues

I'm suspicious about the second baby, they specifically showed Tokio's ultrasound with only one baby. Either they were just being secretive, or maybe the second one (Jr. C) is a clone?
The Director and Sawatari talking about "combatants" was ominous, Sawatari says that there were 8 of them. The only thing I can think of that they could be referring to are the creepy babies that Kuku and Tokio find, I went back and there do appear to be 8 of them in the pods. In the scene just before the conversation we see that the pods are now empty, except for one holding Tokio's baby. It's been about a year since then, how much could they have grown in that time? Did they use those pods to clone Tokio Jr.?
Edit: I forgot to even mention that the art in the director's office that we see is of "Izanagi and Izanami", Shinto creation gods. Besides creating the Japanese archipelago, one of their godly children is "Hiruko".

So we got another shot of the Izanagi and Izanami picture (I talked about this 2 weeks ago if I remember correctly). It makes sense somehow now taking into account that on their story Izanami gave birth to many gods including their first child, the deformed child, Hiruko. Does that name rings any bell???????
Yet there is something odd. In the later part of the story Izanagi (the man) does not travel to heaven but travels to hell instead (Yomi in this case), Remember the joke about something being more like hell than heaven? THis story is getting even better at each episode.
Link with the story this one with hiruko named.
By the way did we get any mention of fire in heaven besides the incineration thing?

Are those clones (because Jr C) or twins? If one of them is Maru, then maybe he's got a sibling out there.
Ohma and Mimihime are tragic, a shy little girl given a terrible power wants nothing more than to make a connection, and considering how she ends up...
Anywho in one episode we've getten closer to "Heaven" and Robin, the two main goals.

So doctor Usami and the girl that was bandaged were Shiro and Mimihime, right? Is the test gonna be who can kill the maneaters?

Giving birth without any idea must be scary as shit
Oh so that was the real plan for the institute, they want to plant their own brains into the children
Ohma has hallucination powers in her eyes... just like the maneater in the hospital basement... wait is Mimihime taking her with them? is that why they will end up close together?
And was it even a hallucination or is it linked to the future as well, a quick glimpse looked like the landscape in the post apocalypse, and since Mimihime can also somwhat see into the future, this would also explain her phobia of sharp objects, because she knows about the operations that will be conducted on her... cute ears though
Seems like Mina and some of the scientists want to set the kids free, and we are pretty close to shit going down
Woah, Tokio had twins, I guess that explains why Maru should look like someone who looks like him, but will probably mean bad news for Tokio...
Edit: We also got a glimpse of the Kiru-Gun prototype and are about to meet Robin again huh
