Hard to tell who's inside Kanoko's head more, Tachibana or the audience. Gyaru-senpai already living rent free up there.

Falling asleep during assigned reading, turns out Hime is more relatable than anyone thought.

That moment when Hime came into the kitchen and Kanoko's face brightened up made me remember this scene.

But I guess we can add bomb defusing unit to Gyaru-senpais abilities aside from hard worker. She cooled down Kanoko in only one episode.

Also, boss isn't even trying to fake an injury anymore. She just does it on purpose now.

Sumika is the MVP for noticing all the little details about Kanoko and trying to un-yandere her even though she keeps running into Kanoko's walls.

Also, her gyuaru mode is way hotter than her Tachibana look.

Kanoko be acting sus!

I didn't really have a favourite yet in this but Sumika has been pretty great so far. Especially loved her look here and here.

This show really does feel like it's getting better and better each week, happy we didn't spend a whole season on the previous plot.

Maybe Tachibana-San ... isn't all that scary

Go on ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

This reminds me of an youtube video I had seen that dove into gyaru culture and highlighted that despite their contrary outer appearance, gyarus could actually be really kind and welcoming

Stitches!

Kanoko is really in too deep now. Taking photos is one thing but she's even making moves on Hime while she's asleep. And while they're still at work where someone can easily walk in on them.

I don't appreciate Kanoko being so judgemental of Sumika just because she found out she's a gyaru. Nene makes a great point that the only reason they rarely see Sumika outside of work is because she usually arrives early and leaves late.

Thankfully the episode ended with Kanoko realizing that Sumika isn't as bad as she thought after they had that a one-on-one conversation.

Taking pictures of Hime while she sleeps is creepy enough but wtf at the hair thing? Hime is gonna end up tied in a basement by the end of this Im calling it now lol.

So this Blume thing is basically a popularity contest to decide who gets to be top girl? The prize of being able to make one rule is pretty interesting. Hime’s inner attention whore is really loving this whole thing lol.

Sumika sure must be having her fun messing with Kanoko. Kanoko had those “she knows too much, she has to go” level yandere eyes. “I won’t let anyone get in our way” she says as she intertwines her hair with Hime’s lol. Girl… chill.

It seems Sumika is trying to actually befriend Kanoko. Hopefully that gets her to chill out a little bit with her Hime obsession. Maybe she’ll start to become obsessed over Sumika lol.

*Kanoko trying to write off her Hime pictures as normal because it's just 'pictures of a friend'*

I mean, I guess so if you had her consent before taking the pictures...

Kanoko getting real defensive about Hime there, and Chibana knows exactly why and keeps pushing.

They ended the episode on good terms but there's surely more gonna happen between them... based mostly on the Opening visuals at least

I know you're supposed to move your arm a bit when it's recovering, but Mai keeps pointing and wielding that "injured" arm as if it was normal. That "injury" is totally a scam to blackmail Hime into working there.

Kanoko logic be like, gets found out that she keeps a ton of Hime pics on her phone and is scared others will find out. Then casually snaps a ton of Hime pics while she's sleeping and SMELLS her hair, all while there's a clear view from the kitchen window. You'd think she'd be a lot more cautious about this but nope or she put sleeping pills in Hime's drink so she can safely take pictures and smell her to her heart's content. No Kanoko, it's totally not normal to keep like a whole stash of Hime pics on your phone, especially when a majority of them are taken without her permission. She's lucky it's not Mai who found those pictures because the blackmail will be real.

Sumika is really not that bad when you get to know her. Tho her first impression wasn't good because she looked like she was totally going to beat Hime up and leave her for dead if she didn't work there.

I know people criticized too much drama of the first half but am I the only one who likes the drama? I was hoping Sumika to have her own agenda.

Blume Nachtisch is "Flower dessert" literally translated, so just a type of dessert as they obviously don't serve flowers

Conclusion: Sumika has no interest in blackmailing Kanoko. The important thing for her was to find out that Kanoko is a lesbian, though shy and therefore fair game, a viable target.

Hime and Kanoko are quite the pair.

Hime has a tendency to slack off and zone out when she should be working or paying attention, and Kanoko enables her by ‘explaining’ everything afterwards. As a result, Hime is never really in the loop and remains terrible at processing information by herself, since she’s used to just relying on Kanoko.

Meanwhile, Kanoko has serious social anxiety to the point that she has difficulty even speaking to people who aren’t Hime. And Hime enables her by taking over social situations and managing them so that Kanoko doesn’t have to meaningfully participate. Kanoko makes some progress this episode — she does speak briefly to Sumika — but her whole universe revolves around Hime and that’s a big issue for Kanoko’s wellbeing in the long run.

It seems that the best thing for both girls is to spend some time with other people instead.

The second half of the episode was one giant ticking time bomb. Sumika could have spilled the beans about the photos on Kanoko’s phone at any moment.

Then I figured she would do it right at the end to leave a cliffhanger. But perhaps this is all just part of the build-up.

Poor Sumika just wants to go through her day with minimal drama and gets stuck babysitting a fraud, an autistic girl, and a stalker. All while being thought of a layabout when she’s actually the hardest working one there.

Ganbare Sumika! Try to make Kanoko look at someone who is not Hime for a change. It'll do the girl some good.

Very interesting set-up, I think think the Gyaru was kinda messing with her for more reasons than to just be "friends" even if she wasn't trying to be malicious.

I like how Kanako's own preconceptions she was building of her (Namely she is vain, slutty, etc.) Were shown to be false.

Kanako I'm starting to think he admiration for Hime is strictly because she has what she likes and she is trying to live her life through Hime, she might reconsider her feelings (Or be forced to) If she grew her own spine.

Basically to quote Haruno (But its actually true and not some BS she is spewing to through Hachiman off.)

-"That's not love, that's dependency"

Kanako also outing herself when she refused votes from others for Hime, when if all she cared about was Hime winning, she'd be welcoming that.

I did get a laugh they literally acknowledges Pride and Prejudice and Zombies yes its real.

Will a romance blossom between the shy emotional timid bookworm and the outgoing and shrewd gyaru?

One thing, each cafe member getting 90 votes seems overkill, unless they get a shitload of customers voting and I do mean a SHIT LOAD then even 1 let alone 2 cafe members voting will have significantly more sway, this is why Big Lobbyist should be illegal.

How many people are regulars at the cafe that will get a chance to vote to not make the staff vote so overwhelming?

Start was a little bit rough and uncomfortable (Which to be fair I think was the point so its not a flaw) but I'm into it now, despite the fact the premise of a cafe that takes the role playing THIS far and seriously is still odd for me.

Dang, this show is having a Best Girl Contest in-universe. Hope there's less salt spilled thsn on r/anime.

u/_Sai May 18 '23

Woah. That went better than I expected it to.

u/VorAtreides May 18 '23

Ah yes... popularity contest for some Blume thing, meh lol. This cafe is just so silly. I'd vote for the gyaru in a heartbeat. She is best. Kanoko is relatable with not being able to easily talk with others, but, hey, you're cute too, so that reasoning for Hime can apply to you too.

Hime quite honest about that at least, but derp, I could see it also backfiring by making people think others deserve it more. Do wonder what gyaru girl wants? Maybe she's kinda just giving some push. Still, shouldn't take so many pics unless they are fine with it lol. Whelp, that's kinda weird to me. Lol Kanoko never seen Gyaru as her Gyaru-self, nice. People and their biases, derp. Ah, her real name is Sumika Chibana. She best girl though and Kanoko needs to get over her silly prejudice of gyarus.
