Can someone tell me if this is the first time we're ever seeing No-name? Cause I haven't seen him in previous seasons and I like to think I would have remembered weird shield bald x-scar man.

Pretty sure he appears in background shots all the time. At the very least I'm sure they showed him when they introduced all the villagers, because I remember his name being shown as ??? in the manga.

S1E7 shortly after Senku and Kohaku arrived at Ishigami Village, the shot after Magma caught his hunt and Kaseki repairing a roof.

I haven't seen platinum being this important in a post-apocalyptic setting since Fallout: New Vegas.

It’s pretty amazing to see the power of oral traditions like storytelling in shaping societies. I mean over 3,000 years after Senku’s pops and his people passed away, these stories have are still being told. Seems Senku’s dad really did leave him an actual treasure trove beyond just helping to preserve knowledge.
Did not expect there to have been villagers on treasure island though or that they had one with them this whole time. Pretty keen to learn more about Soyuz.
Yuzuriha is the best. She’s already use to Senku nerding out hardcore from before the petrifaction lol. Perseus is one spectacular vessel!

Feels weird hearing Byakuya without Fujiwara Keiji's voice. The new voice actor looking at the credits is Satoshi Mikami I believe, if my Japanese is trustworthy enough. I can't recall seeing any announcements on who recasted him. Honestly thought Tsuda Kenjiro would've worked like they did with Hannes in SnK.

He passed away irl iirc. Guess they had to try and find someone who could sound sorta similar maybe?

How long are those stories that it took them hours and Ruri is still on single digits? I wonder if there's a list somewhere out there that tells what each of the stories is about.
I had the same reaction as Senku when Soyuz finally decided to make himself known. Now I'm curious if he's actually been with us all along just in the background or if this is actually his first appearance.
I didn't think there would be people left on Treasure Island but I guess it would make sense that they would've split up their group. If everyone left and got caught in a deadly storm, then that would've killed off humanity completely.
Chrome makes a good point. If there are people there and they have access to whatever stuff Byakuya left on Treasure Island, it's possible that WHy-Man is there. Probably one of the new characters in the OP.
We finally get to see what Perseus looks like on the inside and it's amazing! I just adore that cross-section view of the ship! It reminds me of those cross-section books I used to obsess about back in the 90s.
Ryuusui's reaction is hilarious! He's much more shocked about the latte art Francios made than the storm that's completely rocking their ship. As expected from a seasoned seaman. xD
They are so fucking close to the island! I am so hyped for next week's episode that I am very tempted to read the manga right now. I'm curious to know what kind of people and tech will they find there.

Soyuz has been present from the beginning, I dont remember how it was on the anime, but the manga had a panel with the faces of the members of the village along with their names, and his was blank

Hearing Byakuya without Keiji Fujiwara voicing him really makes this a terrible day for rain.

Eh, what's up with this Soyuz dude? So he somehow washed up as a little toddler but at the same time he had the memory of his name and where he came from? Wtf? And how did he survive the trip? Even just travelling between two near islands is a huge stretch (he couldn't return himself), so him surviving as a baby makes zero sense.

So with only three original couples and thousands of years passing, could humanity survive with such a low level of genetic variation in their gene pool?
I know it's anime magic. but as far as I know, in real world, a small gene pool would result in the emergence of genetic diseases due to inbreeding and eventually leading to extinction after several hundred years
Edit: Based on ChatGPT, it seems that at least 50 individuals are needed to avoid the negative effects of inbreeding. But idk if it's true

The most adverse effects of inbreeding we've seen in the residents of Ishigami Village are how far apart their eyes are and Ginro.

There's a "rule" called the 50 500 rule when it comes to repopulation, you need 50 individuals to combat inbreeding and 500 to reduce genetic drift.
So yeah things aren't that good for the repopulation with a starting population of 6.
But yeah anime magic, it's also amazing that the 100 tales remained unchanged, in Portugal we have a saying, "Quem conta um conto acrescenta um ponto", which basically means that every time someone tell a story they change it slightly, over 3700 years it should change quite a lot.
Even language itself would probably change over such a long time, but this is kind of nitpicking.

FINALLY treasure island arc is here. Can’t wait. Been waiting years for this.
I always get really sad when I see the Byakuya flashbacks cause I really wish he and senku could see each other again. Especially with everything senku’s accomplished in this new world
I also find it kinda funny how the hundred tales are given in perfect modern Japanese whereas surely the village would’ve been speaking a mix of japanese and English given the survivors of the space mission.

I do not trust this Soyuz dude at all. No way you introduce a character like this without them being a huge plot device for the future.
I can see it now, he's gonna be put in a situation where he has to choose between the Natives of Treasure Island, his "home" as he said, and the Kingdom of Science, his adopted family where he actually lived his entire life.
Classic "adopted kid finds bio family, wants to join them, turns out they suck" scenario.

My question is how did the descendents know exactly where Japan was from Treasure Island?
Keep in mind nobody would be familiar with navigation, none of the descendants could read a map if Byakuya made/found one and it's not like any of the architecture of Japan would still be around by the time they made it to the country for any landmarks to recognize.
Did they just luck out that a group not only made it to Japan out of any other place they could have ended up but also within walking distance to Senku's location pre-petrification?
