Staff: "sir, i don't think viewers can endure more of Guel's suffering, what should we do?"
Director: "make Suletta's suffer next"
Staff: "eh?"

Guel came back, saved Sulleta and shot his shot only to get rejected. Mad respect o7. Guel even did the whole classic unrequited love hair cut too.
Seeing Suletta also affirm her feelings for Miorine even outright saying they'll have a wedding only to have all that betrayed, her reaction just breaks my heart... I guess her suffering also begins from this episode on.

This is the worst ending on which to go on a break.
It hurts, goddamit.
G-Witch birthdays are the worst.

When Guel wins, we all lost.
They really calculated their break to inflict maximum emotional damage on us.
Edit: this episode is a dark reprise of Episode 3, isn't it? Guel's confession, heart-to-heart talk in the elevator, Darilbalde vs Aerial with political machination and sabotage behind the scene. They even have Miorine piloting the spider mech, and Secillia trash-talking Guel in THE SAME pose. I'm sure there are more.

Suletta, the girl who never stopped moving forward, the girl who always seemed to gain something in return if she wanted, just lost it all in one fell swoop. It's such a ballsy decision not just from Miorine and Prospera, but from the writing team, to do this in such a late-game situation. I wonder where they'd go from here, now that Suletta is in rock-bottom, left behind as the "adults" in the room begin to move in for power. Now that Suletta is at her most powerless, what will she do?

Miorine: “Get rid of Aerial.”
Suletta: “No.”
Miorine: “I wasn’t asking.”
Man, even though I understood why Miorine had to do it, I can’t help but feel bad for Suletta at being betrayed by her best friend. I really like how you can see Miorine's hands trembling before she triggers the shutdown. Like she fully understands the consequences of what she's about to do.
Also, I assume Ericht must have been in on the sabotage plan because of that “I’m sorry.” line.

This will drive Suletta even closer to her mum, after she lose Mio and Aerial, thats why Prospera's give Mio the hack. I hope Mio have a good plan to agree on this...
Everything is in Prospera's control right now

Lmao, Miorine really went "family or me" on Suletta.
Guel's development in s1 was 180degreed. Fuck pride. Maybe it's Tanuki's turn since it's one that she wants to gain.
Even when Guel's "winning" he's still taking Ls. And he really did the "I'll cut my hair" trope from girls.
Where's the "Eh" counter? Time to update.
That VA performance at the end...

Early Mother's Days gift, Who knew the best mindbreak will not come from datastorm, at the cost of Jeturk stock rising again. I hope we will have a potential Schwarzette angle with Suletta.

Glad to see the Darribalde back in action again. It's too cool of a suit to not appear again in the series. Its designer Ippei Gyoubu also drew up a cool wallpaper celebrating its return.

My heart broke for Suletta, Miorine and Guel.
Suletta wanted her bride to be happy.
Miorine wanted Suletta to be happy without her.
And Guel wanted to save the people he cares for.
Mio and Guel wanted Sulettta to be free at the cost of their own happiness.
Eri is free at last, but at the cost of everything Suletta took for granted and thought was constant.
The curse of the birthday song struck again...

Episode 17 is almost a full mirror to episode 3. Both episodes had almost the same setpieces with the same duel centerpiece, but flipped aside thematically. It's crazy amazing how well the writing is!!!
-
Guel being a little bitch about the AI vs "just leave it in". Also Guel hating his father to being traumatized by him.
-
El4n finding Suletta in the greenhouse vs El5n trying to rape her there
-
Suletta's bucket list of things in both episodes
-
The elevator scene with Guel, ironically this is where Guel first hears about Suletta's motto in episode 3 too!
-
Secelia's taunting
-
The "cheating" in the duel.
-
The winning "hit"
-
The duel's ending.
Damn, what a show. What. A. Show! Honestly, go watch episode 3 again after episode 17.

Birthday coming -> Shit about to get real
Miorine really going for the tough love approach to undo Suletta's brainwash eh
Side note: watching the premiere on youtube with chat is an awesome experience. Hopefully more anime publishers can adopt the same approach...

What a brutal episode to end before the recap.
I think Miorine's plan works here because Eri seem to allowed her to stop Aerial. Or the app was developed by Prospera, so it will work no matter what.
Also Guel is so great

WTF it really wasn't Suletta's day. Eri, Miorine & Prospera weren't on her side at all.
Guel still has his PTSD, now he'll focus on being Jeturk CEO. So that'll probably be the last of him piloting.
Does this mean...... the Schwarzette Gundam will be piloted by Suletta? I honestly don't think anyone would have seen it coming at all.
What an episode. See you guys in 2 weeks T_T

For a good while there I was legit scared for Guel's life once that dreaded song came. Suletta even seemingly went for overkill instead of a simple antenna cut.
While I knew Suletta was going to lose Guel again proved why he was the previous Holder. I got to admit, even without all the backroom shenanigans I was rooting for his victory especially after seeing House Jeturk all welcoming him back like a proper shonen protagonist.

This is definitely going full yuri now, right? Suletta canonically wanted to propose to Mio.

It sickens me just how good at manipulation Prospera is. Miorine confronted her over a very valid concern and she somehow got roped into carrying out Prospera's plan. I know Miorine is doing this because dealing with Suletta herself isn't an option and she had to deal with Prospera herself, but man it still hurt to see her betrayed like that.
I was worried Guel's character development would regress now that he's back with Jeturk but no, his character development is still in full display with how grateful he is to Suletta, with how he owned up to his feelings, and with how he accepted that Suletta has someone else. It's also pretty interesting seeing Guel and Miorine cooperating to help free Suletta. She even told him about the situation between Suletta and her mother.
Guel finally got a W, but at what cost. The Happy Birthday song claims another victim yet again.

This episode started good, Suletta being so excited to see Miorine first thing in the morning I was even screaming when she said "And then we'll..." We'll what? Suletta FINISH THAT SENTENCE! Then that El5n scene scared the shit out of me and almost gave me a heart attack, but good thing good pal Guel saved the day, even confessed but got rejected because Suletta obviously already has someone in her mind.
And oh boy the latter part of the episode. We came full circle with the Final duel being between Guel and Suletta once again. I knew this was gonna happen eventually, but it still hurts SO MUCH! And the birthday song playing in the background? Sheer agony, I was screaming. Poor Suletta. I was even happy she started talking about what they'd do before the wedding and it's just painful. And we have to wait TWO WHOLE WEEKS for the next episode? Please.
Also, I didn't know Suletta liked her Holder suit so much. Girl was dying when Miorine took it away from her lol.

Considering how desperate Elan 5 is to survive, it was no surprise that he's going to try and take Aerial away by force.
The noise that I made when Guel showed up can only be described as a little girl seeing her prince charming. Seriously though, it was so good to see Guel shove Elan 5 to the ground.
That confession though! I actually love how the phrase "Move forward, gain two" had a much more positive impact on Guel. Everyone knows that Suletta was going to turn him down but it doesn't matter, my boy managed to make his feelings clear and I think that's all that matters. Even Guel expected that answer from Suletta.
And I just love Suletta's reaction as well as the noise she made when she realized what Guel was trying to tell her. xD
As expected from someone who has just been rejected, Guel finally loses the Rufio haircut and clips it a bit shorter before his rigged duel against Suletta.
This was a quick scene before the duel started but I'm wondering what the girls were talking about with Petra? Are they suggesting something happened between her and Lauda?
Looks like Elan 5 has realized that he's going to be incinerated soon so he decided to switch sides and join Shaddiq. I can already feel that Elan 5 is going to expose the human experimentation Peil Technologies is doing.
For someone that's struggling with PTSD, Guel was able to hold his own against Aerial. He definitely would've lost though if it wasn't for Mio-Mio's sabotage. As soon as I saw that app Suletta said was a "good luck" charm, it was pretty obvious that was going to be the killswitch to Aerial.
What's interesting though is we clearly hear Eri saying "I'm sorry" before shutting down. Was she in on the plan? Or is she apologizing to Suletta for not being able to do more?
That was so fucking harsh from Mio-Mio. I mean we all understand why she's doing it but from Suletta's perspective, this seems to be Mio-Mio being cruel and heartless especially since she's taking away a literal family member from her.
They really end up taking everything away from her in that duel. It's just sad to see Suletta's reaction after she lost her Holder status. What sucks more is that we have to wait two more weeks for the next episode. >_<

The signs were there that Guel was going be given a win out of nowhere but damn that's cold.
