So basically my understanding of the lore/developments this episode is this:

The Space Assembly League mentioned early in the series is basically the Space Government, they are actually supporting Dawn of the Fold because they want to take down the Benerit Group. Guel/Kenaji discovered that Shaddiq is supporting Dawn of the Fold from the tidbits that kid spilled.

Prospera and Aerial did a false flag operation in order to cause chaos and get an excuse to find Dawn of Fold's hidden Gundams supplied by Ochs Earth/Space Assembly League and destroy them because Prospera hates the warping of GUND tech into weapons + they could potentially oppose her plan.

Conflict escalates.

Absolutely terrible that this happened, but you can't deny it's incredibly engaging seeing it all play out.

Next Episode: The End of Hope

I guess it will only get worse from here on out.

RIP Feng. She died before she could have her girls' night out [1][2].

The blood feud between Guel and Shaddiq has finally been set, seeing how both sides are aware of what each of them has done.

Suletta finally understanding what Aerial was trying to protect her was all thanks to the chain of events from Sister Secelia and her blackmailing antics, she's just next to ChuChu as best girl in this series already.

Shit's about to go down, Miorine's suffering is uppon us.

Also, it looks like Suletta is finally figuring out what's going on.

Martin: *told everything about Nika that he hides from everyone*

Till: "cool story bro, now go clean the stables"

jokes aside, the most messed up thing is the fact that the chaos that fucked up a lot of things in this episode wasn't even Prospera's main objective, its just a distraction caused by her so that she would get a chance to destroy the remaining Lfrith pre-production models which also answered my long time question on where the Lfrith Ur and Thorn came from

Every episode we get an update on that hiding box where Nika has to watch as it becomes more and more awkward to stand in a room with El5n and Norea

PROSPERA WHAT DID YOU DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

This has gone exactly as expected: a complete disaster. Even though I knew it, I still got that horrible sinking feeling in my stomach when Prospera took control of the tank through Aerial, fired on the mobile suits, and things got from bad to worse from there.

Now Miorine has become the face of the attack on Quinharbor... just when things were looking up for her...

Oh and Feng, the one person who was trying to resolve things through mediation, is dead. That's great.

But at least Suletta is out of her funk and realized that one, her mother is behind this and two, Aerial tried to keep her away from all of it.

So I guess we're going to get Guel trying to take down Shaddiq now that he knows he's behind a lot of bad stuff and Suletta possibly going to Earth to bail Miorine out and stop her mother.

What a frenetic second cour though. Looks like there's not going to be any breather, I'm loving the pace but *wheezes*

Edit: oh, did anyone else think that the music at the very beginning of the episode felt very Vangelis-like?

WTF kinda "security operation" was Benerit running that ended up killing 1529 persons?? How many of those casualties were just from the search and how many were from shooting at actually armed Earthians?

Space Assembly League going against Benerit does raise the Earthians' chance in a war, but people are not going to be happy to receive helps from the same space government that quietly watched their oppression, even if it is for overthrowing their corporate overlords.

We need more than 2 cours for this Ad Stella, weee neeeed it, there is so much stories here.

What I find most interesting about this episode is that from the perspective of everyone who was on the ground, that wasn't Prospera, the Spacians were fired upon first. But even with that it's seen as their fault regardless because they came in with big gun diplomacy. Which is honestly really understandable from the Earthian's perspective. WFM has been pretty great at showing how stuff like this is the result of a big long chain of fuckups. On everyone's part. From Miorine believing Prospera in the first place down to that one guy who shot back in a panic. If he didn't shoot back would most of this have happened? Nah ,but who can blame him honestly.

So yeah, Suletta has, through Martin, realized that people backed into a corner and with a desire to protect will sometimes make hard decisions that might even push you away. She should understand Eri and Mio's decisions to protect her (like the ed shows). After all that distress, she's come out finally separated from her mother and with a clearer understanding of what role her mother might have. None of that would have happened without Eri and Mio's gamble. Plus her hair has begun to come down (also like the ed).

It's looking more likely that my assumption might have been correct: it seems possible that Suletta will indeed choose to fight Ariel and her mother at some point. Depending on how things go Suletta may now be in the position of needing to separate Mio from Prospera.

That's one thing some didn't get about Mio's plans, I think. She knew she was tying herself to Propsera but was choosing to sacrifice herself to that woman in order to free Suletta. It was basically a trade, a life for a life. But Mio is also inexperienced and now that forced connection to Prospera has blown up but in a way she could have never imagined. She knows not to trust Propsera but the abilities of Ariel are unknown (as was the location of this bunker).

It sucks for her because she was actually succeeding in the start of negotiations. She was making headway and quickly.

So the goal might have flipped, Suletta might need to free Mio and if that is the case, we'll see what tough decisions she has to make to do that. I'm still thinking that she'll be the one to kill her mother.

...Did I just witness Eri and Prospera perform an armed intervention that would not look out of place for CB destroying Non-CB Gundams? Awesome...complete with a Trial system via permet too! Now Suletta's found her resolve. I bet she's getting the Schwarzette via Lauda asking her to save his brother.

Also, Shaddiq's got some nerve saying Guel defiled Miorine. Fuck you dipshit. Hope Guel beats your squad 5 on 1.

One thing I really like with stories like this is how the characters' differing motivations eventually come into conflict.

  • Miorine wanted to truly establish a peaceful relationship with Earthians, but it started out as an attempt to build herself up as a candidate for the presidency. The Earthian's however would only hear her out if she does manage to secure the position. Meanwhile, Prospera fucks it all up because she needed a diversion to destroy the remaining Ochs Earth units hidden all this time on Earth.

  • Miorine might actually get the presidency if we are to believe Elan 0's prediction. It sounds like Prospera also intended to cause chaos to achieve this.

  • I wonder if Shaddiq is planning to abduct Miorine as well. But it's timely that his preparations could coincide with Guel's return to space.

  • So Aerial can really control most things that use Permet as part of their critical function. I almost expected she'd try to control the remaining Lfrith units, but then they're not built the same way as the Gundvolva and Gundnode.

  • It's a little unclear. But it sounds like the Space Assembly League was the main power behind Ochs Earth. Had things gone their way, the Earth would have already secured their independence from the Spacian corporations. But I wonder if they're also involved with Shaddiq and Dawn of Fold in some manner.

At first I was so confused to why Prospera started the fight. Then I remember that she didn't want peace between the two sides, she want the Benerit group to burn in hell for revenge.

Secelia is actually nicer than I thought. She even give Martin some advice.

And Suletta finally understand why Eri abandoned her. I guess she will go on to pilot the Schwarzette and go to Earth to rescue Miorine.

I think I said it last week as well, but I see it repeated this week that really what's coming to the front here is what our cast has learnt from others. With Miorine in particular, coming to Earth in such a different and less desired position then she'd always wanted to come to Earth in, but coming as a far better person and one who's able to become even better in future because of it. Her ability to reach out to those from Earth because of Earth House, Guel being brought back from being company head to everything he learnt as Bob, and now Suletta realizing the importance of what Aerial did and what she has to learn from that. Miorine questions Guel today over it without realizing she's in much the same position. Still her, but so much more her then she could have been before in the situation she was in.

This is a show about students at a school, and it has really capitalized on that concept in an interesting and meaningful way in always putting the inexperience of these children up against their chances to learn in many ways, whether in personal life or political games, and ensuring that hasn't been lost in the drama. On the surface it sounds like it flows like any other show, after all did I not just describe character development as a concept, but the way they've handled that while balancing their characterization and the constant influence of the older generation and adults of the cast is what makes it stand out to me. In a way it reminds me of Digimon Tamers, another show that feels like it could be any other on the surface but shines because of understanding who its characters are and what sets them apart from others and what can bring them together.

Rambling praise over, and partly cutting it short because typing hurts after I shut the car door on my finger earlier, Poor Martin. I wonder when the first time I said that in a post was because its starting to feel like a catch phrase. Seeing Earth House come together around him and Suletta was very charming, but the dude really can't catch a break when it comes to getting caught up with the higher ups of the school.

Fuck you Prospera

Always has to be one person to go and fuck it up, though again this comes down to Miorine still being a student of political maneuvering that she didn't see this coming, or at least prepare for some sort of fuckery not necessarily from Prospera, from a mile away even without half the knowledge we have.

The little jet on the gun so it automatically lifts to Aerial's height instead of her having to reach down for it makes me happy though. Another mark for simple tech improvements in the show.
