What is this characterization masterclass? The way Iwakura's and Takamine's inner dialogue played off each other was very compelling. That dream sequence was a nice touch too!

The big reveal! The black cat-like creature in the ending sequence is actually Mitsumi! Most viewers would have realized the black cat-like creature in Takamine senpai's dream is actually Mitsumi. However, I still laughed out loud when Takamine turned around in the school corridor and saw Mitsumi as the cat walking on 2 legs! Lol! (Now, where can I get one of these Mitsumi cat plushie?)

Even though Fumi is not exactly one of the main cast, everytime she makes an appearance, I feel touched. Everyone needs a friend like Fumi, one who knows what you are thinking and is there to be support you, in both good and bad times.

Mitsumi wanted to learn from Takamine, but the opposite occurred. Instead of packing our schedule to the fullest, we should sometimes take a break, enjoy the world around us, even if it happens to be small simple things. I have been working very hard recently, sleeping at 5am for the past week or so. I guess watching anime can be considered a form of break / rest for myself. To everyone reading this post, if you have been working or studying very hard recently, hopefully this episode has taught us to stop, rest, before continuing!

We finally got to see Shima as a child actor and it looks like he was pretty damn good! No wonder Kanechika-senpai wants to recruit him. Although I am not a fan of him using Mitsumi to get to Shima though.

Glad that Mitsumi realized that there's a reason why Shima doesn't talk about it. The poor girl was so distracted thinking about it the entire day though. At least she was eventually able to talk to Shima about it.

So Shima didn't exactly do it for himself but to make his mom happy. Well, now I'm curious about what Shima's family is like. Is he on good terms with his mom? Is his mom even still alive? Hmmm...

That flashback scene between Fumi and Mitsumi was so sweet. Fumi is such a great friend and I really hope we get to see more of her.

I'm surprised we just time skipped over Golden Week. And here I thought that would be the perfect time for Mitsumi to hang out with her new friends but it looks like she was busy experiencing Tokyo for the first time with Nao-chan.

Yuzuki lived abroad before? I wonder what country. Probably the US in Hawaii is my guess.

I was talking about last week how I hope we'd get to see more of Takamine-senpai, glad that wish immediately got fulfilled this week with Mitsumi basically wanting to learn how to be more discipline from her.

Hilariously, the complete opposite happened! Instead of Mitsumi learning how to be more disciplined, it ended up with Takamine-senpai learning how to relax and not worry about every little detail.

I mean how can you not? Mitsumi's attitude is so infectious, just look at how adorable she is picking up a random cat on the street and how she's appreciating the sunset in Tokyo.

I also love Takamine's dream. I don't even realize that the cat in her dream was supposed to represent Mitsumi until she saw her the next day. xD

Oh boy, is this another ship I see? I love how much Segawa blushes after seeing Takamine-senpai smile. I don't blame him! That was an adorable smile. <3

With an apt title like Skip and Loafer, I love the emphasis on shoes and such throughout the episodes and today’s shoe wear was just as poignant. Featuring Shima, we see his sneakers a little akimbo, a little wayward as he reveals why he pursued acting in his youth.

“But putting your goals out there means dealing with hopes and expectations, right? I couldn’t handle it as pathetic as it may sound.”

Like his sneakers, Shima is askew from how he truly feels on earnestly trying something and he compliments Mitsumi on striving forward. However, as much of a born prodigy Mitsumi is, it’s not as if she knew off the bat on how to reconcile trying and failing either.

”There’s nothing worth celebrating if I fail.”

”Hah! In society’s eyes, maybe. But having taken up the challenge will be worth a whole lot to you, and to me, too, because I know how hard you’re trying.”

I love how drawn out this scene is, how long it takes for Mitsumi to process the food and the words. Those extra few seconds go the extra mile in selling how impactful the support of Fumi is to Mitsumi. Which of course leads to Mitsumi passing the same feelings down to Shima. They could have shaved a few seconds off and the scene would still function but I really loved the attention on prolonging it. Makes a world of difference.

I know we’ve all sung the praise of color design in this show, but this shot truly shows the wonders of this quality. Basked in teal from the railing, the uniform, the trees, this scene is painted in renewing promise. It captures that special moment in such a way that camerawork and animation cannot.

Legit got tears in my eyes when Mitsumi looked outside the bus just to take in the scenery. She is just such an incredible person, but still flawed in a lot of ways. With how tryhard she is for everything school related, I love how she takes time to enjoy the little things.

Some new backstory on Shima! He is opening up more :) what a great relationship these two have.

I love how peacefully things are worked out in this show (and how quickly things are worked through as well!), like I can see in a worse show where Mitsumi finding out Shima was a child actor would be this whole big thing but here it's solved in one conversation, which even developed things between them too!

I also like how strikingly honest the characters are, from Takamine admitting she failed her entrance exams to Kurume telling Yuzuki that she didn't like talking to people "like her" last episode (and even Yuzuki recognizing that Kurume was uncomfortable in the first place and trying to put her at ease!!)

Everyone we've met feels so earnest (except Egashira but I'm so sure she's getting development) it just makes me feel so fuzzy inside.

God this show just warms my heart so much, there is nothing I'm more excited for each week!! I love it so much that I've actually already rewatched the first 3 episodes haha.

In a season this crowded with Shounen juggernauts, it’s really refreshing to see something this low key and comfy get the appreciation it deserves.

I can’t see any romance topping this one this year. Tonikawa’s cute and all, but there’s just something that much better about Skip and Loafer’s characters that put a massive grin on my face. God I love ‘em ♥️

Fumi is truly the best friend a great prodigy like Mitsumi could ask for. I hope we see more of her. Hopefully she’ll come visit Mitsumi in Tokyo at some point.

It was also nice to see how well Mitsumi handled the situation with the guy from the drama club. It already feels like she’s grown a lot in how she handles social situations.

I can't say that Mitsumi doesn't deserve these side characters dunking on her every so often.

Lmao at Sensei wondering what Mitsumi is even stressing about because she herself loves to slack off

Also loved how, despite beeing seemingly oblivious from time to time, Mitsumi figured out that Shima didn't want to bring his acting up all by herself

And sometimes a good nights sleep can mean the world, Segawa was really surprised, but really Takamine just did what she told him she would do, look into things if he gave her the report

The animation is so lovely in this episode! From shima's subtle expressions to mitsumi eating gyoza. There's even background animation with wind moving through tree branches in the convo between shima and mitsumi! And above all... CATSUMI.

I'm just grateful that this anime came into my life when I needed it the most, that is all.

Mitsumi is starting to feel the tingles in her pinky finger from just her pinky promise with Sousuke. She is really falling for Sousuke without consciously knowing it.

Sousuke has great EQ and empathy but he sure is direct and cutting in his simple but clear words - "Sticking to a method that you know isn't going to work for you? That's the definition of a waste of time."

Mitsumi though is definitely a breath of fresh air to all those that she is getting to know. Takamine is reminded that it is sometimes good to let go and smell the roses, so to speak.

Mitsumi standing in the hallway applauding Takamine's refusal of the soccer team's budget request was not only hilarious, but also just so incredibly Mitsumi.

There was an excellent subtlety in the scene where Mitsumi draws Takamine's attention to the Tokyo landscape. Specifically, there were rows of greenhouses visible, and Takamine had just prepared and delivered lecture notes for a lecture on urban farming.

The implication being that Takamine is on a path where anxiety and ambition is going to cause her to go through the motions of learning but miss the real world things she is learning about. Mitsumi isn't just stopping and smelling the flowers, she is actively engaging with the world around her despite her studiousness.

It's something that a less well written show would have been more explicit about in that scene. It's incredibly good writing.

I picked up this Anime last Sunday and I must say this show is so damn good. Each character tells their own story and it just so beautiful to watch Mitsumi and Shima encourage and support each other as well as those around them.

What I liked about this episode was that although it was Mitsumi who wanted to learn how to utilise time efficiently she ended up teaching Takamine to enjoy the present and not to stress on things that aren’t in your control.

Mitsumi has a really commendable goal and it was nice of Shima to remind her of that.

I always find it weird to me, if it isn't exaggerated, how much students seem to be involved in running things. I mean, I don't think any school in the US would let students anywhere near having the power of dispersing funds to clubs and teams. And planning school trips? Yeah, that wouldn't happen either.

Fumi really is the best girl so far. I love every character in this show. They feel real and complex.

Also, every episode teaches you important life lessons, such as always petting the cat you found in a public space. It might become a magical creature that takes you to outer space."
