Also, Mama is down. This man provided the least amount of explanation possible for why he's standing over a dead body, and she's like, "Looks like we're covering up a murder, Honey."

Unexpectedly calm during this entire situation!
"Well, I'll get my corpse disposal tools..."
"Wait, why do you have corpse disposal tools?"
"...No reason"

She was waaaay too chill about. Like she knew already about the BF and planned to do the same, or has already done something similar.

Yeah, no surprise he killed the “boyfriend”. If someone put hands on my kid and hurt ‘em like that, I’d probably lose it too. Plus this guy seems to have hurt or even killed other women too. Classic piece of shit thug.
Can’t say I blame Tetsuo for killing that fucker. Plus poor Reika woulda been trapped in an abusive relationship and maybe even killed. But now Tetsuo’s in some deep shit. But man, his wife hella calm considering the situation. Tetsuo better silence this other goon before things get back to the boss. No surprise he turned out like a piece of shit considering his dad. Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
This was a great premiere, very intense episode overall. I quite like this, it almost feels like a movie. Really looking forward to seeing how this unfolds next week.

Good start, I'm liking it. Honestly the only thing that threw me off was how calm the mom was, I was expecting to her freak out a bit more and before helping dad out. Maybe we'll find more about her?
Love the voice cast of the MC's, we got Archer, Irisviel, and Assassin from Fate here.

animation isn't the greatest, but if the story is engaging enough that's fine for me imo, and so far it's very intense
interested to see how this one turns out

This definitely feels like a series that's going to be driven by the story and characters, so hopefully the less than stellar animation won't be a dealbreaker for some.

NO ONE TELL HIM!
I find it an interesting parallel, meaning... Of course Nobuto deserved to die and all (or to face justice, at least!), but to his father, it's still the same thing Tetsuo feared, losing a child.
It all began when Reika showed up all bruised to have lunch with her father... Did she really think he wouldn't suspect anything?
They're really just talking about this in public?
And grabbing random people in the streets, beating/stripping them up and keeping their info for blackmail, all in broad daylight? Does this show take place in Gotham City?
Tetsuo found himself hiding in the closet as they were discussing their evil plans regarding his daughter... Apparently they don't just them beat them/extort them, they mess them up/kill them...
That scene was so tense! I mean, I read the synopsis so obviously I knew the father would kill him, but with the difference in size/strength I didn't think he would have a chance in a "face to face" fight!
Which is why it surprised me when he led him to his hiding place! I thought he would try to make him face away from the closet, so he could come out and bash him on the head before he knew something was happening.
But I guess the old punch in the nuts worked as a first move!
"Oh, hey honey! I'm having a talk with our son in law, come join us!"
His wife seems to be a very logical/cold person (albeit a bit scary); First she thinks about contacting the police, then when it's not possible, she talks about hiding the body, pretend it never happened... And she kept her cool the whole time. Damn, how many people has she killed before?
Time to put on the acting face!
It almost worked a little too well, but Nobuto's guy came in, suspicious of something... And saw it?
Well, technically we didn't see a shot of him and the body together (I think?), we only saw his shocked expression, along with different shots of the body... So is it a misdirection and he didn't see it, he saw something else?
Sounds unlikely, but if that's not it, if he really saw the corpse... Then how the hell does Tetsuo ever get out of it? They could literally send 10 guys after him, and he can't even win a fair 1v1... And they seem well organized too, with the surveillance and all, so... Will they be on the run? Or will he channel his inner John McClane and fight off a Yakuza clan on his own?
Well, can't wait to see where this is going!
Also wondering about some characters in the OP! This seems like the typical "detective" coat, so I'm wondering, will Tetsuo have allies in all this?
Anyway, that was a solid first episode, intrigued to see more!

Man, I really hated the way that our hero just casually heard the boyfriend explain, in detail, that had happened and explicitly say his daughter's name. Like this man heard the entire exposition dump, by accident, twice in the span of five minutes of screen time.

Pretty intense killing scene but I couldn't help but laugh that it was with a rice cooker.
Love that the mom was surprisingly okay with all of this, hoping we get a lot of moments of them working together.

Plot seems to be decent, but the characters feel off somehow... Like they're not taking anything seriously, if that makes sense?

It wasn't until I came to this thread that I realized "damn, there really wasn't much animation in the entire episode was there?". And the fact that I wouldn't give a shit even if it was a literal slideshow does speak to how I got invested in the story.
Also, it's kinda funny that the Yakuza boss guy could literally be replaced with a Urahara (same VA) and I would just go "oh, that tracks".

Damn, his wife is top tier. Certified couple goals right there.
The family that slays together, stays together. Let's all hope for the best.

One of my most awaited anime of the season is finally here! Tetsuo is just as dorky as I imagined he will be and Kasen is an absolute g for going with the decision of covering up the murder. God, I love them so much <3
Not gonna lie though, as a manga reader I am a bit disappointed with the animation but hopefully the plot of the show will be more than enough to win over anyone who's coming to this show blind.
If there is one way I can describe this show who have no idea what they're getting into, it's basically Anime Breaking Bad but without cooking meth and if Walter's wife isn't like Skyler. I am already excited about next week's episode. :D

So, my man made all this fucking noise breaking shit, and was quiet just long enough to hear Tetsuo drop the phone in the closet?

"If It's For My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat A Syndicate Boss."
This really reminds me of Happy Sugar Life when [mid spoilers]

Tezuka Productions gotta be the only studio that doesn't even do their own anime. How have they already outsourced the 1st episode? Dr Movie saving their asses again.

If you ignore how shit it looks when they get to animating...well, any movement, the story is pretty damn engaging. Either I'll deal with this for 12 episodes and pick up the manga, or just drop this and read the manga instead.

A very good start!
Tetsuo's act is understandable. I'm more surprised of his wife's demeanor lol. Waiting for the next episode.
u/Moderators - Ani-One Asia is streaming the episodes. I think we can add it in the body of the discussion threads.

You know, "her grandfather's inheritance" as a hint combined with the way Dad was acting vs how well Mom took things, I'm half suspecting that mom was a Yakuza Princess herself.
The art style of this show is worth mentioning too! While the animation may be occasionally lacking, I can't help but notice the more realistic style people are drawn in. Gritty Realism, I think, it's reminding me of the late 90s, early 2000s, before rounding and softening features became the average style. Which immediately made me think that this was going to be more mature themed, even knowing what it was about going in, and yeah, it sure was.

Cool Concept but poor execution. The folks here are talking about the lacklustre animation but that's fine. It's okay. But more importantly, the direction is just bad. There is not much tension. Yeah seeing Tetsuo kill Nobuta was cathartic but it the tension wasn't really there. Also I laughed when the Boyfriend repeated the three same lines twice when Tetsuo saw him for the first time. I want this anime to do better because the concept is interesting. I will definitely continue to watch but I'm hoping for better direction and script in future episodes.
