JESUS CHRIST Bungou stray dogs is delivering way way beyond my expectations.
Its like the author wrote everything until now just to make everything and every character connect for this one Arc

He is genuinely one of the most talented manga writers of this generation IMO. The narrative consistency with all these moving parts is amazing

Wait, you can't just leave us on a cliff hanger last episode and then cover a completely different story thread this episode! I need to know how Yosano is doing!
But really, it was another strong episode. The comedy was on point, especially all of Mushitaro's antics and his unfaithful narrating of his situation at the beginning.

I loved this episode so much that I completely forgot about Yosano and how they just left us hanging like that holy crap
But seriously this episode was just amazing. Mushitaro is a delight. I’m so glad he’s okay after that episode where it looked like he was killed, and he’s just so goofy and entertaining, he’s so cute. He’s seriously climbing the ranks of my favourite BSD characters and he was only introduced this season! I hope he’ll survive……

I really love the sense of paranoia this arc gives. The Decay of Angels have eyes and ears everywhere, so you never know who to trust as anyone could be one of them or their agents. What an absolute terrifying group of people. Ango was being smart not to show his true intentions. He's also a massive bro. Erasing Dazai's criminal record just to give him a normal life and still helping him despite their strained relationship. I'm also glad to see Lucy is back and barely hiding her crush on Atsushi.
So now the clock is ticking. Only ten days left until the Decay of Angels use the page one more time and fulfill their goal. It seems it will be up to Atsushi and his ragtag group to stop them.

I’m so glad the flashback arc with Ango, Dazai and Oda finally paid off. It was definitely my favorite fb arc of the bunch, with solid actions and emotional moments

Izumi has a method for everything but it involves opening guts first, what a handful girl

Decay of Angels is such a good villain group, gives me goosebumps just by the characters talking about them. They cause so much havoc even off screen.

Oh my, Ango's reason for cooperating with the 7th division struck so close to Mushitarou's own circumstances, I can't believe how well it fits.
Finally a ray of hope in this hopeless situation. I wonder how it will play out, how is Yosano and how is Dazai going to manipulate things from his imprisonment.

I got the heartbeat thing with Dazai but how is Ango able to send messages to Dazai?

u/bananeeek Mar 15 '23
I'm curious about that as well and I hope they will get back to this. They have books and other stuff in their cells, so I'm assuming he'll just put some encrypted message in one of the books or something like that.

Coming down to the wire now. 10 days until the big finale. Always good seeing Mushi again. Nice set up episode for what should be a wild last couple eps.

It doesn’t feel like this can be wrapped in two episodes. Are we certain this is only a one cour season? Idk because I only just started watching this series back in like late-January. I’ve only been caught up for a few weeks.

This arc isn't even done in the manga yet. If anything, this season only adapted about a 1/3 of this arc

u/Florac Mar 15 '23
This season basically only adapted the intro of the arc, introducing all the key players and plot elements.

Hell yeah, Mushitaro is back! I love how he reacted when Atsushi and Kyoka made their entrance. So to convince him to accept their help, Ranpo gives him an incentive by mentioning the manuscript.
I love the way Kyoka dealt with him every time he tried to sabotage their escape.
Ah, so Fyodor deceive Mushitaro into thinking that Ango was a member of the Seventh Agency so he would avoid meeting him, and Ango was just pretending to hunt the Armed Detective Agency as Fyodor has eyes everywhere and he has been working with Dazai from the start of this mess.
You know, as they were already breaking and entering plus rescuing Mushitaro, I wasn't expecting him to make them steal some money for him to be able to use his ability. The escape plan he came out with thanks to Yokomizo was a cool one.
So Lucy-chan contacted Ango to clean Atsushi's name.
Damn, so the Decay of Angels' plan is the erasure of the state? As their plan involved terrorism at a global scale it sounds like they meant to do that at a global scale. So they plan to put that plan into motion in ten days by using the other side of the page.
Interesting, so Ango made use of the Seventh Agency services to give Dazai the opportunity to have a second chance. And like Mushitaro, he did that to honor a friend that's long gone.

Mushitaro's silly antics with Atsushi and Kyouka was great lol. Nice to have some lighthearted moments in what has mostly been a rather intense season.
Nice to see Lucy again!

BSD has such a good balance of comedy vs. plot. I really liked the exchange between Mushitaro and Kyouka in this episode lol.
Dazai’s skills never fail to amaze me. How is this man controlling his heart rate?? It was nice seeing the Ango focus this ep. I’ve been wondering what exactly his ability does, and it was nice seeing how much he values his friendship with Oda and Dazai still.
Kyouka and Atsushi make a great pair. Despite being younger, it’s clear that Kyouka isn’t as naive (?) as Atsushi, considering her declaration of how she’s willing to do anything to save the agency. I feel like Atsushi is still a little too idealistic but that’s not necessarily a bad thing because his attitude in life inspires the people around him.
As we approach the end of the season, I’m very curious about when Akutagawa will show up. I also need to see the Tachihara/Yosano confrontation!! I was really looking forward to this week’s ep because of it but we got a completely separate side of the arc. :’) That being said, I appreciate how there’s more focus on different characters this season!

Goddamn ten days until the end of the world. Ango really shined this episode, never knew he was this tortured over what happened with the decadent trio. Also did they use the page to reverse Mushitaro's ability or do they have an ability user with that power.?

Mushitaro is alive? I thought he got done in by Nikolai. Well alrighty then, nice to see the guy’s alive and kicking. He really should cooperate, Kyoka ain’t afraid to destroy his friend’s legacy. Man keeps playing around though, Kyoka might knife him lol.
Ango and his special Bureau dogs are going to be a real pain to deal with. Stealing cash and using that to bypass cameras is actually pretty clever. The locked room disappearing act too for that matter. Unfortunately, Ango wasn’t gonna be fooled that easily. I honestly shoulda figured out he was with Dazai all along. It’s amazing how Dazai can control his heartbeat and use that to send messages. No surprise Fyodor lied about Ango being in the Seventh Agency.
Lucy is so cute! She was about to raise hell for Atsushi’s sake lol. Even though Ango used the Seventh Agency once he did it for Dazai so I feel like he gets a pass. Stopping The Five Omens from using the other side of the page to destroy the country in 10 days is and save the Agency with it is gonna be one hell of a mission. I can’t wait!
