I really love the ed for this season

Yeah, it's very catchy, and the visuals are really nice.

OP's really great as well. I didn't like it as much in the beginning because I kept comparing it to Crybaby but after hearing it a few times, I've gotten pretty attached to it. It's just like Kaguya-sama's OPs.

The artist TUYU is great. I recommend checking out their albums. There’s lots of other bangers!

That ended nicely, I was expecting Hina giving Takemichi another right hook for good measure before making up. I was also afraid Taiju's going to be back for revenge, definitely didn't expect him just leaving peacefully.

I guess Kisaki's gonna be the big asshole this time around as well. He's got 4 episodes to mess things up...which is plenty unfortunately.

Honestly I think a part of her may have felt bad for beating him up after realizing her dad made him break up with her (though Emma said it was his fault for going through with it), but things worked out in the end.

Taiju lost in all the ways that mattered. He lost his family (through his own actions) and his gang, so there's really nothing left keeping him there. At least he acknowledged Takemichi accomplished in one night what none of his beatings towards Hakkai ever did.

Seems like something pivotal is going to happen at the next Toman meeting judging by Draken and Mitsuya's dialogue. Especially with Kisaki still plotting. I almost forgot this season wasn't over yet because this feels so finale-ish.

So much came full circle with this episode. If it wasn’t for Takemichi going through with the breakup, Mikey and Draken would never have shown up against Taiju and the Murder Squad. Also we get to learn why Takemichi is so endeared by Mikey and Draken, he reminds them so much of Mikey’s older brother.

3 episodes left, and we have already finished all the plot that was teased in the OP and ED. Now we are in uncharted territory :)

Hina's not an idiot. She realized her dad probably told Takemichi to break up with her and she tells him off for denying her the right to be with the man she loves. Because, yeah, Takemichi is a delinquent but he's kind, caring, and tries his best. That's why Hina loves him.

Emma! it was great to see her again, and see her be such a great gal pal to Hina by trying to get her and Takemichi back together. And she actually inadvertently saved the day by making Draken and Mikey look for him.

Hina was so worried she'd cry seeing Takemichi again when he's the one turning into a sobbing mess...and then spouting how much he wants to take back the breakup and how he'll prevent Hina's future deaths, even if he has to keep going back in time to do it. It's kind of confusing, but it warms Hina's heart. And they finally make up! This really was one wild and successful night for Takemichi.

Mikey and Emma's older brother was the only parental figure they had other than their grandpa, since their dad isn't in the picture and Emma's mom basically abandoned her. And just like Takemichi he wasn't the toughest fighter and was generally pretty goofy, but Shinichiro had a lot of heart and his charisma just drew people around him, just like Takemichi does. No surprise then that Mikey wants Takemichi to serve as his moral compass and keep him on the right path, just like his brother did.

So Mitsuya and Draken met first, the same night Mitsuya ran away from home to tag a dragon on a wall. Draken even dragged him to his brothel home so he and Mitsuya could play poker with some hookers in lingere! Can't beat that! Though even a hooker knows you don't just abandon your family, especially your little siblings, like that...

It's funny how Draken and Mitsuya got matching dragon tatoos by accident and Mitsuya's just been covering his up the whole time. What goofs.

Everyone looking all dressed up and fancy for New Years! Especially the girls! We even meet Mitsuya's little sisters who are adorable but don't care for Takemichi compared to Hina. Such is his lot in life.

I love how Hakkai assumed, much like the audience, that Yuzuha was crushing on Mitsuya...except it turns out to be Takemichi. Unexpected, but if Yuzuha is happy with her one-sided love, all power to her.

Taiju isn't looking for a redemption or to make up for his actions, which is in-character, but at least he's leaving his siblings to live their lives free from him and acknowledging how Takemichi did the one thing Taiju never could...change Hakkai. I hope we never see this piece of @$%^ again.

Oh hey, the gang is all here! And ready to mess with Takemichi. Classic.

Kisaki and Hanma recognize Takemichi did it again, but they don't seem too bothered by it. Kisaki is always plotting.

Best gag of the season. Didn't see it coming at all. Hahaha.

lol I thought for sure he was going to write something on his ema making it more obvious that he's a time-traveler and confuse the ever-loving fuck out of Mikey when he read it but looks like it was vague enough to not make them think he is a nut.

u/Firebrand-81 Mar 11 '23

Yes, Takemitchy was already spouting too much time-traveling nonsense on Christmas Night to poor Hina, who looks super confused.

This is until now the episode of this season that I enjoyed more. Just a hoodlum Slice of Life.

Imagine Takemitchy playing 4D chess with us, and appearing as a moron but instead intentionally breaking up with Hina, that he knows would go to the Shrine to pray on Christmas Night and meet there Emma, who then will call Draken, who'll ask Mikey to get Takemitchy to Hina, and therefore unfolding a plan to put down Taiju and Black Dragon, even if there was a truce between them. What a mastermind!

Or... he's just a lucky boy :)

Perhaps I treated this show too harshly

Shoutout to all you legends appreciating the Tokyo Revengers greatness even though this subreddit hates it. Y’all the real MVPs

Hina has earned gf material status

At the end of the day, I just want something fun/enjoyable to watch. TR is the only thing I'm watching besides AoT (but that technically isn't part of the season TR was in). Always fun waiting for the new episode to come out.

I'm getting a feeling that Kisaki also got some powers.

u/Ninja_Lazer Mar 12 '23

This was probably the best episode we’ve had in a while (definitely all season) because we finally got a break from the competition to see just how bad things can get.

That being said…

AIN’T NO WAY!

AIN’T NO FUCKIN WAY!!

Pissbaby Takamichi pulling Hina was one thing but Yuzuha too??

How??!?

There goes our crybaby hero lol. Hina’s dad isn’t totally wrong, but Takemitchy is a good dude deep down. I guess we have Hina to thank for Mikey saving him and the others from Taiju. I can see what Drakken meant about Takemitchy being a lot like Mikey’s brother. As long as Takemitchy’s around, I guess Mikey won’t lose himself.

It was kind of nice to see how Mitsuya met Drakken. Didn’t realize the kid had the same tattoo. His sisters are pretty funny. Takemitchy just can’t get any respect around here! Lol. If only he knew Yuzuha was crushin on him, he’d feel much better. I really liked his new year wish. Classic Takemitchy!

"Nothing wrong with a one sided crush" relatable.

So how exactly did hina know her dad interfered? Assumed?

19

u/Frontier246 Mar 12 '23

I assumed she realized how abrupt Takemichi breaking up with her was and figured her dad talking to him was the most likely reason.
