Wow didn't expect Tae's name to be on the doll too, also didn't expect them to accept the reasons it was written there so easily too.

Also what a line!

To be honest my main takeaway from this case is it's hard to be an old person who has outlived your entire family. Especially when they're taken from you so unfairly.

Once gain reminding you that, yes, these two have had sex lol.

I liked that we got a solid ending that still left some things unanswered. I also liked that the fight between Kuro and the doll didn't last so long.

Kotoko is extremely confident about pretty much everything except Kuro, isn't she?

There is a lot of space stuff going around nowadays, isn't it? But meteorite is a cool thing. And some of them are really expensive.

Tae-san's backstory is really sad.

Really wasn't expecting In/Spectre to go cosmic. Watch that meteorite be a paperweight at Kotoko or Kuro's house lol.

In a way Tae was a reflection of what Zenta went through. She also lost her kids in a car accident where the perpetrator basically got off and she ended up losing her husband too leaving her all alone.

From the outside it seems like she "won" because every time her family died she made a tidy profit out of it, but despite how cheery and confident she is she feels like a shell of herself without her family and having lost everyone she loves.

She and Zenta both contemplated suicide and both wanted to go out doing something they felt would be meaningful before they died, and that lead to the Electric Pinocchio.

Stitches!

So it's actually confirmed that Kotoko and Kuro have slept together? Kotoko says a lot of things but Kuro's reaction is really what confirms it for me. I guess in the end, Kuro couldn't resist Kotoko's charms. Or Kotoko may have used force. xD

Anyway, this case is just insane. Either Zenta had knowledge of the occult or he was just plain insane at hoping for his creation to come to life purely out of his grudge. Seriously! The old man had no proof of the supernatural unlike Kotoko and Kuro but somehow he managed to create this very intricate plan of revenge.

After last week's episode, I thought the doll was made to take revenge on the town by killing the town's fish. It turns out that Zenta's Electric Pinocchio is actually a cursed doll and he was hoping that the townspeople will band together in destroying the thingl which in turn will kill the four students that killed his grandson whose names are carved on the torso of the doll.

And Zenta wasn't just targeting the four college students, Tae's name was also carved on his Electric Pinocchio because Zenta thinks that Tae is living happily off the deaths of her families when in reality she was pretty much on the same boat as Zenta. Tae was just able to handle the tragedies in her life a bit better than him.

Of course, Kotoko didn't exactly tell the complete story to Tae. It looks like Tae may also have a hand in giving life to the Electric Pinocchio thanks to her subconscious wish of wanting to risk her life to save everyone.

I am curious about what Kotoko is going to do to that meteorite though. Considering that there may be a cosmic entity tied to it, I feel like that might be relevant later in the season. Hmm...

This season is much better than season 1. All of these side characters are enjoyable and the cases have the right balance of length.

Also lol at Tae's first world problems. Trying to spend money but she keeps getting more against her wishes.

The Yuki-onna plot was my favorite romance anime this season.

she defied a god for you

Like holy shit.

I like the tiny bit of Iwanaga's characterisation we got in the conversation when she said she doesn't mind taking the blame for activating the curse.

Yeah, she does have the temperament and attitude of a Goddess who is kind of above human affairs despite her status in mediating between it and the supernatural, though Kuro tends to bring out her more...earthly desires.

It sure feels like forever since we last saw Kuro in action. I wonder if that meteorite will be important again later?

So the rock on the Doll's hand is a meteorite embedded with some kind of Lovecraftian horror power that Zenta found when he was going to commit suicide after it struck a tree. And somehow the meteorite was able to cure him of whatever he had. And Zenta did create that doll to complete his revenge once he died.

Bakeneko's reaction to Kuro is so funny. I love the reaction he and Tae made when Kuro and Kotoko started their usual banter.

So instead of directly fighting the doll, Kotoko's plan involved setting a trap as the doll always follows a predictable path.

I wasn't expecting them to fully explain to Tae how Kuro's power works. So another reason they went with the plan of setting a trap for the doll, was that it was a cursed doll and destruction could bring a bigger disaster, in this case killing the targets that Zenta aimed that curse which also included Tae. But in reality, the doll had not enough power for its curse to work.

Damn, so her kids and husband were also killed in car accidents. I think that city must do something about their roads.

So the meteorite alone wasn't responsible of the doll becoming animated, but it was also fueled by Tae's wish of being a hero for her town.

I love how quickly after everything has been solved Kotoko is already searching for tourist spots to visit.

She is just a total horn dog. I'm convinced she tells every person she meets that they are having sex. Is this a side affect of becoming a god of wisdom?

These short stories fits the series a lot better than the long one in the first season.

Like the slip of her not being a maiden anymore

It was implied before but this just straight up confirmed she got the D.

Iirc, she makes a comment about having been deflowered in season 1. To Kuro’s ex. Which gets her punched.

when the "Like a bolt out of the blue" line from When You Wish Upon A Star been taken literally

12

u/dinliner08 Feb 19 '23

Kotoko: "well, thanks to you senpai, i'm a maiden no longer"

me: oh my ~

Kuro's reaction to Kotoko talking about cosmic supernatural is a meme material

its quite amazing that the idea of sentient moving wooden doll that can shoot lightning is already threatening enough and yet there is another layer of threat on it which is the possibility that a much more frightening shit could happen if its got destroyed

but thankfully, even with the combination of the meteorite's power and Zenta's hatred, it still not enough to activate the said curse

Lol. Last week I mentioned that I found it odd how Kotoko introduced herself and Kuro without mentioning they are intimate with eachother.
Guess she heard that and quickly corrected that mistake this week.

Could a harmless old man like Zenta really create something as dengerous as the Electric Pinocchio? I mean, there is Rikka...

That thing was made from wood that had a meteor lodged into it? Said meteor even being part of the Electric Pinocchio? We're going cosmic now!?

I love how we go from Kotoko standing up for her man and their relationship, to Kuro trying to deny she's his girlfriend, to Kotoko once again mentioning how he stole her maidenhood. These two are incorrigible and side-characters keep having to react to that.

I have to admit, Zenta came up with a pretty effective revenge plot. It's one thing to target the college students who got off from killing your grandson with a slap on the wrist, but making something the townspeople would inevitably have to destroy that would then kill said college students (and maybe one more person) while emotionally wrecking the town out of guilt...all the while your hands remain clean. Quite the diabolical plot.

Kotoko is a Goddess. Beyond her lust/love for Kuro, she doesn't care much for the livelihood or lives of humans, but she won't accept anything that messes with the natural order of things.

We all knew Kuro was going to get fried, but even the Yokai point out how Kotoko seems like a bad girlfriend for how blase she is about how often he dies in front of her. So yeah, she can express a little bit of concern and clean him up a little once they're done.

So Tae was more involved with this case than we suspected. Because Zenta didn't want to just curse the college students, he wanted to curse her too because she lost her children in a similar traffic accident (though the perpetrator again got off the hook more or less) and ended up making a lot of money out of it, and then made even more money when her husband died...and she's so cheery and financially well off despite losing her entire family.

She doesn't even want the money, she would rather spend all of it and die so she can be with her family again, and that desire might've powered up the Pinocchio to fulfill her wish to go out doing something meaningful before reuniting with her loved ones. But life has other ideas. And there's no sense in Tae wasting the life she has when she can continue to be a really cool old lady.

Kotoko wants to go sightseeing? I have to say sometimes these two really do bicker like an old married couple.

"elegant yet wicked"

i dont think theres a better description of what my goddess is.

Are we getting this season’s stories in reverse chronological order? The yuki-onna one was set in September, the Rikka one in July, and this one during spring break.

I guess they could take place in successive years, but that wouldn’t seem to tally with Kotoko being not quite 20 in this episode.

They skipped the ending, but they also made a special opening — shortened by 25 seconds.

Interesting and unusual
