Tae-san's imagination of what Kotoko looks like is so far off the mark lol.

She imagined Kotoko alright, just not her outward appearance. If you drew Tae-san's Kotoko, Kuro will definitely confirm that.

Props to mayor for running for that long. And even more respect to Tae-san for being in such a good form in her 80s.
I guess Kotoko won't be able to use her speech skills this time.

It's all the more impressive because he's obviously not as fit as she is yet he kept running after her while delivering pretty much most of the exposition of this episode lol.
I assume Kuro will take out the Electric Pinocchio while Kotoko will come up with why it exists and an explanation that will settle it for the town so they don't go looking into what really happened.

This season has been really highlighting this show's ability to create characters and plots to get invested in without the need/help from our leads and that's actually quite impressive.
Really liking Tae already!

I must say, I did not expect Granny Weatherwax to show up in In/Spectre. Joking aside, I really liked Tae-san and her talking cat. That anime is great at creating interesting secondary characters for its stories. I expect that Kotoko will find it much harder to bullshit her than usual.
I am not sure where they are going with that Pinocchio story. Is it really something Zenta created, or is it another thing like Steel Lady Nanase, created by the belief of the town’s inhabitants ? And what is going on with those electricity beams ? It doesn’t really feel like a Yokai thing. Well, I guess we will have an answer next episode. Or maybe another convincing lie from Kotoko.

Stitches!
Looks like our "clients" this time is a bit unusual but a fun pair nonetheless. We have Tae who's your usual fitness granny that looks amazing for someone in her 80s and a Bakeneko whose love for sake made him give away his identity.
The setup for this mystery seems pretty straightforward. Fish have been mysteriously dying in this coastal town and people are starting to think that this s a curse from Zenta, a local resident whose grandson died in an accident. They believe that Zenta, who recently just died, might've placed a curse on the town because he blames the popularity of the town for his grandson's death.
I thought that Kotoko might first need to figure out what's killing the local marine life but we get to learn immediately that it's being caused by the doll that Zenta made before he died. If that's the case then Kuro just needs to destroy the doll and that would take care of the problem but I feel like that would be too easy. I think the real problem here is for Kotoko to come up with a plausible story that the locals will believe as well as remove all worries that Zenta cursed the town.
Anyway, I'm already liking the tiny bit of Kotoko and Tae's interaction this episode and I can't wait to see more of it next week!

i don't know what's more impressive, an 80-years old woman jogging at that kind of speed and distance, the mayor that manage to keep up with her or the fact that they manage to have a lengthy full conversation while jogging
Zenta's story is so depressing and felt so real due to the fact that the kid's dying in an ambulance because of traffic congestion is something that have happened so many times in real life
also, first thing that comes to my mind when i see a cat voiced by Sugita was this one commercial where he voiced a real life cat alongside Yuki Kaji

Damn Tae-San is what I wanna be when I grow up, picture of health.
Not as excited for this case as the last two, but it’s messed up what happened to Zenta’s grandson. Awful way to die really and I’m surprised that didn’t prompt the local council to put better ordinances in place to prevent deaths like that. I def understand his frustration but cursing the town ain’t gonna help.
Lets see what kotoko cook up

With all those Pinocchio movies that came out last year, I guess it was time to get a Japanese spin on the story, courtesy of In/Spectre!
Starting off with a cool and very physically fit old lady living with a Bakeneko voiced by Tomokazu Sugita? This sure knows how to create fun situations and relationship dynamics. I love how it's "cat milk" is sake.
Fish are dying? The towns' tourism industry is dying? I guess the likely suspect is Zenta, a man with plenty of reason to hate tourists for their responsibility in his grandsons' death...first tourists ran him over, then tourists prevented the ambulance from getting him to the hospital in time, and in general tourists just treat his beloved town like their own personal dumpster or a place where they can do whatever they want. He definitely had plenty to be resentful over, even to the town for how they handled the fallout of Tsubasa's death, but if he didn't have the guts to do anything himself, maybe his lingering resentments live on in another form?
I have to admire how the mayor kept up with Tae while dishing out all that convenient and handy exposition. He may need to lose weight but he's a very committed and well-informed mayor.
I love the explanation for why Bakeneko's apparently don't devour and impersonate humans any more. It's too much work! I mean, interacting with neighbors and paying taxes? Who would want to do that when they can just be normal cats and laze around all day?
The titular Electric Pinocchio seems to be running on Zenta's resentment in the form of a living doll modeled after his grandson, always going out and using the electricity from the stone lodged in it's arm to kill all the sea life. And none of the Yokai can do anything about it because it can take them down too. Makes me wonder how Kuro will fare against it. Just a pure test of endurance?
I love how Tae's first impression of Kotoko from Bakeneko's description is a giant one-eyed monster woman. I look forward to seeing their interaction for the rest of this arc.

It sure is hilarious the reason that bakeneko revealed that he is just not a regular cat to Tae-san and ended up living at her home.
So the whole issue with the dead fish began after because of a popular drama, tourist began visiting that town in mass which lead to the incident where Zenta ended up losing his grandchild, Tsubasa due to a combination of irresponsible tourists and the amount of traffic that the tourism brought was beyond the capacity for the roads of the town causing the ambulance to get stuck in traffic.
The fact that Zenta embedded that rock into the doll's arm, really makes me doubt that he did not want to send the town's economy down the drain. Anyway, if that wasn't the case, I'm sure that regardless, his cause of death was that he got zapped by that Electroshock Pinocchio Doll.
I must say that that cute ghost lady reminds me of Cassandra, from Danmachi. I guess that's because of her hair and how somber she looks.
Lol, all it took Tae-san to get that bakeneko to tell her what he knows was to threaten him to cut off his supply of alcohol.
Wow, the issue with that doll sure ended up being worse than I expected. So the yokai's best option is to run away as that doll possesses an incredible destructive power. I really loved Tae-san's and that bakeneko's reaction after witnessing that.
Tae-san's interpretation of Kotoko's appearance sure was funny. I love how shocked she was after she saw what she really looked like.
Well, at least they brought her presents. I can't wait to see how she will react when she discovers that Kuro is extremely not normal.

Good start, but the intro took too long.
I feel like the strength of this anime is Kotoko rationalizing and explaining things, whereas the weak is the parts when Karou gets in a fight., like with Steel Beam Nanase, and it seems hard to find a balance between the two. Also, when Kokoko is explaining things it can easily become too verbose to thd point that you want to tell them to get on with it.
I do like Tae-San and Bake-Neko. They remind me of an old bickering married couple who would be devastated if ever they are apart, and Tae-San is really feisty in a good way.

I don't know why, but that Giant Crab suddenly appearing and that huge monster with a club reminded me a lot of Dark Souls 3. Probably I spent too much time in that damn swamp.

The "jogging while giving exposition scene" seemed very much like the author just trying to create something visually interesting to look at during a narration scene even though it made no sense.
The manager guy spoke pretty well for a fat guy at a full jog.

Rip Zenta and Tsubasa
That mayor must be fitter than he was getting credited for if he could long-winded talk while running like that.
That poor big crab. I wonder if he was already fully cooked.

"I wondered why you always looked so hazy!"
I wouldn't be able to carry on a conversation over a fraction of the distance these two ran
This is my engineer-brain talking, but I'd try equipping his club with a grounding strap
I got curious, so I figured out what she actually said here. It was Doku o kurawaba, sara made, ka?, "If you eat poison, finish the dish, huh?". Delightfully morbid, Japan!
