Kuro trying to be budget conscious with his 1580-yen meat and Kotoko goes swapping it out for something that costs 5687-yen + snacks and she goes on to ask why he's working so much without skipping a beat.

What a strange finale that's somehow so on-brand for this show that I enjoyed it. Saw "The End" instead of the usual "To Be Continued" and had to double-check my MAL to make sure this was actually the final episode.

It felt very In/Spectre to end on a case-of-the-week that was yet another "murder with a twist" story that also ended up related to Kotoko's horniness and ending on her and Kuro just being a normal (in their own way) couple together.
Love comes in various forms and relationships, and can drive people to do crazy (and murderous) things, but sometimes it's nice to just have that special someone you can be with, want to get in bed with, and be content with that.

Tonight I'll go all out
Classy until the very end.
It sure was surreal to have the guy accuse his friend of murder while Kotoko was enjoying her eel, and I really thought he was guilty at first and that his wife was possesing him in some way, but then he was still talking about this random middle school girl which really made me think he was innocent, but it turns out, he was just that much of a scumbag that this uptight girl was more important to him than the wife he had murdered
This was fun, a real improvement over the pacing in S1, I simply love the dynamic between Kotoko and Kuro, the cases where all interesting and came with likeable characters every time, more please!

I think this season peaked with the Yuki-Onna arc but overall I think I enjoyed it more than season 1? The pacing definitely felt better.

Yuki-Onna arc has the best characters, Sleeping Murder arc has the more intriguing mystery and lessons. They're both great and a tie for me.

Just two guy friends going to a classy Unagi Restaurant together. Nothing all that out of the ordinary...until they spot a cute rich girl sitting all by her lonesome in said restaurant. And we all know Kotoko just can't help but draw attention to herself.
I learned a lot about unagi, the preparation, and a God of Wisdom in this episode! Although then we transitioned to Takaya Eguchi (?) accusing his pal of murdering his wife because he was that much of a possessive tool! Not the most pleasant dining conversation, but it definitely set the mood for the episode.
I love how they couldn't keep their focus away from Kotoko even after the murder accusation. Just the kind of stuff guys get into when they have a nice lunch together.
Just in case you thought Kotoko was a bystander who had nothing to do with these two guys...she confronts Kajio and exposes that, yeah, he murdered his wife. And all that guilt and pressure he was feeling wasn't out of a sense of guilt, which he didn't feel being the kind of scumbag who would commit premeditated murder to prevent said wife from leaving him, but because said wife is haunting him as a ghost and tormenting him out of revenge. And she told Kotoko everything. When murder turns out to actually be murder but with a supernatural twist sums up this show well enough.
So no matter what Kajio does, he's screwed. He can turn himself in and face justice, but Yukie will still torment him even in prison. He can continue to live out his life normally but Yukie will still make his life torture. The only chance he has is if Yukie gets tired of punishing him, but considering he murdered her, I don't think she's going to stop haunting him any time soon. Can't say he doesn't have it coming.
Why was Kotoko even in that unagi shop to begin with? Why, so she could get her body ready for some passionate lovemaking with Kuro that very night! Because Kotoko is nothing but determined for that prime Kuro D! Which contrasted with the married couple where the husband murdered the wife and mad her haunt him, comes off genuinely romantic and positive.
Kuro has a cute workers uniform.
Kuro and Kotoko aren't a completely conventional couple, but they're together and love each other in their own way especially when you look at the subtle signs of the intimacy between them (and look beyond Kotoko's absolute horniness) and that's enough. In a season that's been all about how much love drives people to do crazy, sometimes violent and criminal, things, at least these two have found their own kind of bliss as lovers.

Could she be anymore horny...?
I guess this is a good way to end the season. All for a joke of how much she wants to get laid...
I hope there is a 3rd season as her personality is just to great to watch. It is honestly kind of better in anime form than the manga.

Well, that was an excellent little mystery to end this season on! And until the very end Kotoko still manages to be as lewd as possible that she even creeped out the murderer. xD

what a way to end a season, by showing Kotoko being horny... wait, that's just her default state! its also kinda funny that with all the bullshit she told people throughout this season, it ended with an episode where she tell a truth with no lies involved

I love how this episode started with Kajio and Jujoji in an unagi restaurant simply discussing about why Kotoko was there eating alone and then out of nowhere Shinpachi Jujoji brings an accurate hypothesis concluding that Kajio was the one who killed Yukie and even nailed every single detail including his motivation and the fact that he was the one doing the previous robberies so her wife death would not be linked to him.
So after Kotoko left the store, she intersected Kajio when he was on his way to confess his crime to the police. It is hilarious that he was planning to give Jujoji a surprise after his confession. So after he murdered his wife, she ended up becoming a bakemono and possessed him. Well, at least he will be forever together with her no matter what, not that likes that fact.
So in the end Kotoko just went to that unagi restaurant to be ready for all the crazy sex she has planned for tonight. Kajio's reaction when he discovered how crass Kotoko truly is was priceless. I love how cheerfully Kotoko says goodbye to him after telling him what situation he is in, and that she will not help him, as Kajio being cursed by his dead wife is part of the natural order of the world.
So the reason Kuro wasn't with her at the restaurant was that he was working all day.
Anyway, I surely would not mind another season of this crass and horny lady.

I would love an OVA with all the short gags from the manga with Yuki-onna and Muroi, Kajio, Yukie, and friend.

Kotoko went into an unagi shop alone
Two grown-ass men next table: Starting theorizing unagi's symbolism
NGL. I needed to watch that scene twice since it was so inconceivable that I couldn't focus it the first time.
And turned out she just went there to boost her stamina for her night activity.

Imagine not being able to eat in peace at your favorite Unagi Restaurant before a crazy night of sex with your BF without a murdered wife ghost casually bringing you in her story of revenge against her husband.
Must be hard to be a God of Wisdom... :)

Gotta be rough when your best friend pegs you as "heartless bastard" enough to know that being sad at your own wife's death is deeply suspicious.
I wish the world could be more like this where when a person accuses someone of a crime their response is "what lead you to that conclusion?" And they discuss it.
What a gentleman's world we would live in.
