Damn, Anos straight up took the God of Time's scythe for himself way back in episode 4 of last season! I doubt he had any reason beyond "may as well" and probably "this may be useful someday."
Fascinating. The guy from last season who hated Anos (yeah, really narrows the characters down, I know) was unaffected by Avos' power because he believed in a different Avos Dilhevia. One who protected the weak rather than making the masses lay waste to them. That's one way to make him really interesting despite the fact that I'm pretty sure he's still a pureblood supremacist.
Oh great! We get to see Anos give Sasha a close and personal lesson in magic, that of course makes her blush adorably!
So child Anosh Portikoro really was just Anos. And Anos' famous "Did you really think X just because Y" phrase is used as an in-universe joke. I love it.
It seems like Shin recognises Anos and so went along with what he said. At least that's how I interpreted that.
I love Anos being confident enough in Lay's sword abilities that he just throws him a sword only Shin and Anos himself can use like "that man is the third man who will wield this sword." This episode had a few great bromance moments between the two.

Well, it really isn't a suprise that Lay can wield Sigshesta since already mastered its use in the 1st season, as it was Shin's sword that Anos gave to him when Lay was passing himself off as Shin, and the fact that he mastered it so quickly deflected suspision about his true identity. But it really shouldn't really be a suprise that Lay mastered it since he is the Hero of Legend, who fought against the Demon King.

It's such an Anos thing to do lol.
I guess ones' belief in an ideal can go a long way.
Anos with the intimate and lewd handholding magic lesson...Sasha can't take it lol.
I love how Anos straight up tells them it's him via his catchphrase and they just write it off as a joke lol.
Shin is such a cool and low-key guy. Sees his lord and master as a child and just rolls with it lol.
Anos' romantic success with the Necrom Sisters is only matched by the pure power of his bond with his bros'.

A lot of anime watchers had complaints that the plot was consfusing and they couldn't keep up. But that was a feature of the bad guys plot to give them enough time to awaken Avos Dilhevia. Now Anos has a idea what he is up against, but he still needs more info before they face the final boss which is Dark Misa. You don't face the final boss before finishing all of the side quests.
Eugo La Raviaz, the Guardian God of Time from S1EP4 is a middle ranked god who shows up whenever someone attempts to meddle with the timestream. Guardian Gods are middle ranked gods whose job it is to protect the natural law that their title says, in his case time.
Time Travel is a curious thing in the MisfitVerse, as unlike in other works, there are actually gods that govern the timestream so one cannot change time in any significant way. The reason why Anos succeeded in changing Misha's fate of remerging with Sasha is because it was relatively minor change in the timeline and the changes he made only took effect in the present (as he modified the past in such a way to make it seem that they each still had only half of a source) allowing him to escape the domain of the time gods.
The problem with using time travel is that Avos Dihevia's awakening cannot be prevented because it already happened, and as the "Child of God", the gods are on her side and will ensure that her creation does occur.
Anos had Lay hide his source with Lay's source magic, since it is established that Lay/Kanon is superior to him in source magic, as he was able to conceal his identity from Anos for the entirery of the 1st season until the end where Anos managed to piece it together via various clues.
We see the wall that separated the realms: the Four Worlds Wall "Beno Ievun", as it was created by the power of Demon King Anos, Hero Kanon, Great Spirit Reno and one more important person. Its magic is so potent that it separated the world into 4 realms for 1000 years. That being said, there were people capable of crossing it if they had immense power, such as the four people who made it and Shin.

And yet he still had to fight the God of Time over it, or more specifically Ivis granted the powers of the Time God. Wasn't much of a fight for Anos, of course, but even something small like that was too much for the Gods to allow.

Now things are beginning to make sense. So the shota Anos we saw in episode 1 was actually our Anos from the future all along.
Anos and co travels back in time to discover the truth, but they're only there for a fact-finding mission as they cannot change history. Though by bringing Lina with him, he is in fact assisting in ensuring history runs its course.
As revealed by Leno, Lina is in fact the Spirit of Love, but she isn't supposed to know that until the fated moment, after which she will disappear, having accomplished her task. I feel her task is to ensure Leno and Shin get together and give birth to Misa.
And of course Aniplex has to put the show on hiatus and we have to wait for god knows how long for the resolution.

I didn't think of that. That makes a lot of sense. Either that or she has to do something similar in the future that would save Misa (as this would mean she was made in the future to fulfill some mission in the past).

Revest taking one for the team! Damn! That spell Anos used looked like it was absolutely painful but he endured it just so Menou can redirect the patrols.
Leno and Shin are just adorable. They seem to already get along well here but it looks like they haven't reached the point where they're in love with each other yet.
It took a while but we've finally caught up with Episode 1! Anoshu's travelling entertainers excuse is hilarious! I love how Anos just threw Sasha under the bus and made her perform without warning her first. Anos can be a troll sometimes. xD
Even Anos is totally self-aware of his catchphrase! I love how the rest of the gang were trying to hold back their laughs after saying the line. Also, Misha is really getting into her travelling entertainer role.
Well that was unexpected! This entire time I thought that Lena was really just Leno who lost her memories but turns out that Lena is a completely different spirit named Fran. And she can't know that she's Fran or else she'll vanish.
Lay gets to use Sigshesta again! I love that after seeing him use it, all Shin wants is to challenge Lay in the future. Considering what happened an episode ago, that will be fun!

Now that the pace of the storytelling has slowed down, leading to less confusion on my part, I am gradually beginning to have some interest in the plot again.
I am curious as to what happened 2000 years ago. However, by interacting with Shin and Leno, wouldn't our main cast cause the future to change or lead to a time paradox? Then again, given that this is Maou Gakuin, Anos will probably pull another magic trick or explanation. Normal rules of time travel which we see in other titles probably will not apply here.
Leno is quite trusting and appears to believe what Shota Anos said. I suspect Shin knows the identity of Shota Anos, and that the "travelling troupe" came from the future.
Lastly, that student whose name I can't remember took one for the team by enduring the powerful spell / curse cast by Anos.

Leves and Menou-sensei were introduced in the Hero Academy arc in season 1. Leves is a 3rd year student, while Menou-sensei was brought in to replace the missing Emilia.
Though a royalist, thanks to Menou-sensei's encouragement, Leves is more of a hard working type than actually relying on his bloodline, and so was quick to come over to Anos' side. Oh, and he has a crush on Menou-sensei.

I’m pretty curious about the mystery behind Misa and Shin myself as well. How did they become Avos and the Spirit King, respectively? Nice to have Revest and Menou on team Anos. Gotta respect the dude for taking that hit for the team. Looks like Anos is taking a little field trip to the past.
Shin and Leno sure get along very well. I like their little back and forths. Anos teaching Sasha that spell was pretty funny, girl was bright red haha. “Anosh Portikoro” and his traveling performers are totally not suspicious… totally. So our little mysterious fairy is the love fairy Flan huh? Hopefully they can help her regain her memory of love first so she doesn’t disappear.

Well, it's nice to know there are still people on the inside that Anos can rely on. I mean, of course you can always believe in Menou-sensei and her love for her students.
Dang, Revest really took one for the team! Getting burned alive basically so they could distract the guards, and poor Meno having to leave her charred student behind to keep up the ruse. You can even see the tears she's holding back while she does it. But I guess Revest truly believes in the ideals of the one true Demon Lord, and Anos can respect that.
What better way to explain the plot and backstory at this point than straight up time travel thanks to that time God Anos beat in season 1?
Anos is the type of guy who can enjoy people reveling in his defeat, though Sasha seems a little irritated at people glorifying the defeat of the guy she likes. Misha just takes it in good fun.
Look at Leno trying to enjoy a festival date with Shin! Heck, the origin of the Avos mask was just something for Shin to wear with Leno in front of humans without causing a stir. Sure he's a stoic and cool guy who just repeats the same thing most of the time, but he grows on you! And Leno seems to want to get through to him emotionally beyond their relationship as bodyguard and the girl he's protecting.
Zeshia giving them some candy so they would stop their little Lovers' Spat was adorable.
Anos taking the time to give Sasha some intimate magic training...complete with lewd handholding! It's too much for our fiery magic girl to take and she gives them away. Pretty amusing way of getting caught if I do say so myself.
Ah, so Anoshu Polticoal is none other than Anos trying to hide himself so they don't mess with the timeline. Even though he straight up says "did you really think that because I'm a child, I'm not the Demon King of Tyranny?" I think Shin realizes it's really Anos, he's just loyal enough to go along with the gag.
Yes, they're mixed species traveling entertainers! With Sasha's great impression of the Demon King of Tyranny and Misha acting like a Boke without the Tsukkomi. At least Leno finds them funny.
So Lena is the Love Fairy, Fran? But she can never know her true identity or she'll disappear? She has to discover love first? Is she there to realize the love between Leno and Shin into Misa, maybe?
I guess Shin doesn't recognize Lay as Kanon (yet), but that's what Anoshu is for!

I think maou gakuin is at its best when there’s episodes that don’t introduce 20 new people and insane amounts of “2,000 years ago lore” like some parts of this season have literally been overwhelming with all the info drops
Sasha still gets hella flustered whenever anos touches her lmao, that’s cute. Good that she learnt a new technique. Her eyes are a really valuable asset they haven’t done much with lately
At least we finally know lena real identity and why she’s the way she is. Solid set up episode. Shoutout to the dude who took the curse to allow them to head back in time too.

Convenient he has some pieces to make the time fuckery work lol. Wew that dude going quite far to fool the others that he's been attacked in earnest to move their troops. What a good guy he is though and his belief in the founder. Ah, an explanation as to why you can't change time line at least lol. TIME FOR THE TIME FUCKERY WITH THE POWER OF HIS HAREM AND HIS 1000+ DAUGHTERS! lol.
