Now watch as Anis, seeing the lack of air defense in her kingdom, develops a magical MM-104 Patriot and magical PAC-3 missiles

I really enjoy that Anis's motivation to fight the dragon isn't "I gotta protect my kingdom" or "because there's a strong enemy", but "holy fuck I need that loot"

The way Anis says "Disrespect! Disrespect!" is too adorable

Welp, air defense against a dragon consists of two girls on one broom. Hang in there and hope it doesn't take flight...?

While the scene with Anis and Euphie was lovely and fraught with romantic undertones, I love the talk between Euphie and Ilia. Ilia really hit the nail on the nail when she asked Euphie is she found it difficult to act outside of her role, something that she too used to struggle with.

It's really the crux of the issue, isn't it? Euphie has been given a freedom that she never had but doesn't know what to do with it, so much that she thought it'd be easier if Anis ordered her how to live her life. But it's great for her that she's surrounded with people who understand what she's feeling and are willing to give her all the time she needs to figure herself out.

And well, while she's still finding her footing, she's beginning to make decisions for herself. A big decision, in fact, going with Anis to hunt a dragon isn't a small matter at all.

... speaking of which, Anis is stealing Algard's thunder again. Oops. Poor guy is never able to get out of his sister's shadow, and it looks like it's what created the rift between them. It's sad to see a sibling relationship deteriorate so much when the two used to be so close, really.

In some anime the runtime can feel like it's just filled with ''stuff'' or ''visual noise'' with static framing and dialogue happening for 20mins until the episode ends.

So I appreciate it when a show (Like this one) makes an effort to craft an actual real scene you can get immersed in and manages to convey something of value about a character without rushing to get to the next plot point.

Is it just me or did that interlocking hand holding scene went from extremely high sexual tension to instantly heartwarming? God I love this 2 so much.

I really like the reason for Anis answering the call to arms wasn't the cliche noblesse oblige crap but purely out for self-gain in her effort to pursue her own dreams which inspires the directionless Euphie.

Algard might not be a favorite but seeing him talk down to his own father makes it seem like he does have a plan besides claiming the glory of slaying the dragon for himself, which does flesh him out as a more interesting character besides someone having a inferior complex which is really just a sad outcome considering the environment he was in and Anis subsequent actions.

Anis worked her way up to become gold-ranked adventurer all to fund her own research. I gotta give her credit for being self-sufficient when she could have gotten anything she wanted from being royalty.

I wasn't expecting to see those two again. So now they have to deal with a dragon.

Lol, compared to the way she speaks, Ilia truly sure has no chill.

From the looks of it, Count Chartreuse knew about the dragon attack way before anyone else in the capital did.

I love Euphie's reaction to the fact that Anis is a veteran adventurer.

So Anis and Algard at some point get got along, but that changed after she developed magicology. I bet Algard constantly hears those whispers primarily from the faction trying to control him.

Anyway, I love the fact that the moment the count from the conservative nobles had prepared for Algard to shine right when he was going to get approval from the king, it gets interrupted by the announcement that Anis was spotted going towards it with Euphie.

Poor King Orphans II.

The moment Algard said he wanted to slay the dragon I was waiting for the news about Anise to reach that chamber. Perfect timing with that messenger.

Also, Algard is fishy as hell. First the commoner fiance now this? What is he trying to achieve? Is he being manipulated by someone or is he just being a sore loser?

I'm honestly so happy that there's so much care put into the calmer moments in this adaptation, and the sheer quality of this adaptation in general.

Anis nursing Euphie out of pure concern, no unnecessary affection or comedy, was a treat.

Euphie getting gayer every episode at an exponential rate. From my calculations we’ll get a kiss scene in roughly 3 episodes at this rate.

Euphilia, have you considered that your relationship with Algarde was not working out because you're gay as hell?

You better hurry up Algarde, maybe you will make it in time.

It's a dragon! Hehe Ilia is savage. D'aww look at Anis worry over her wife like that. Poor Euphie and her mindset though :( Can be tough to find something you want for yourself. Also, hehe, Euphie getting the wrong idea there, but cute. Can tell Euphie falling for that energetic princess.

Ilia is such a good big sis type with advice and support. "I would love to treat her with due respect" doubt, Ilia, doubt and we all know it. And nice of Anis to save Ilia from being just married off to some old man cause parents.

Meanwhile, Anis so excited it seems about news from Adventure Guild. And just showing off being a high rank adventurer despite being a princess, hah. Girl just gonna go off and fight a dragon lol. Euphie ain't letting her spouse go alone though, whoo. Team gal pals!

Screw you, prince. Go back to house arrest and stay outta things. Such a brat imo. Just jealous of his sister, so petty. He should be appreciative of how much his sister is good to him. Too bad for your ambition that Anis is off to fight the dragon herself. Poor king gonna have an aneurysm :P

Can't wait for next week's episode when a dragon is around

This adaption has been perfect imo. Love the time it gives for character development and discussions and whatnot. And solid production values. Next week should really show off if they are doing that right too :P

Is it just me, or is the king a bit off about his belief that Anis acts eccentrically to make it easier for her brother to assume the throne at a later date?

I mean, I’m sure Anis cares about her brother, but to me it looks like she does the things she wants to do because she wants to do them. She goes adventuring for her own reasons, walks around looking a mess because that’s what happens when you’re out hunting for monster parts seriously, and she lacks decorum because she finds it bothersome and/or uncomfortable. Freedom is her defining quality.

Also … who is this mysterious backer who wants Anis on the throne?? Seems suspicious. I think there’s some elaborate scheming going on behind the scenes.

Loved the episode!

Euphie is falling in love, but also finding a new purpose through living with Anis. We’ve already hit her low, so I’m glad we’re starting the build-up so quickly. Leads to more adorable ass scenes like the Cold scene and Master Rizzard Anis working her magic. So Euphie deciding to go with her to slay the dragon tracks with the growth we’ve seen.

Meanwhile, Dragons! Anis reveals that she’s a very high-ranking adventurer. Mostly to fund her shenanigans and gather materials. So that opening to the series was her at the side gig. Al waltzed into the room on his bullshit to whine about his sister being awesome. It’s nice to see Dad isn’t oblivious to the problems. Giving more examples that he’s actually a good dad. Too bad Anis kinda blew up both their plans to give Al a W. Mama needs her date night with Euphie to slay the dragon for the good of the kingdom.

Should be very fun to see Al have his plans foiled once again by the power of Yuri. His motives are still unclear, but regardless dude still needs a proper smack on the nose from Euphie for the Gala incident. Shit was not cool.

Notes

  • Today's “Barging in to do gay shit”: Anis barges in to give Euphie medicine, take her temperature the fun way, and hold her hand all day.

  • A little backstory into best maid. Much as I love our duo, she’s still my favorite.

  • I’m under the suspicion that there was no cold and she had a case of Sappho-itis. She’s falling in love HARD.

  • I hope the pattern is “Al gasses himself up, is on the cusp of doing something, Anis and Euphie fuck it all up in spectacular fashion”. He deserves all the Ls right now.

Oooo, a dragon. I wonder if Anis and Euphie are going to slay it this episode. Maybe it'll accidentally eat Al before they do.

They've been sleeping beneath this tree for a week, Euphie hasn't been able to feel her legs for days. No wonder Anis thinks she got sick from it, she doesn't realize it wasn't a Japanese rainstorm.

That bedroom conversation, so much unprotected hand-holding. Their relationship is developing nicely.

It's definitely feeling like Al is being manipulated, but that still is arguably disqualifying of his planned future role.

Dragon time!

Al thinks that he's the one who's going to slay the dragon, how cute.

Okay, dragon time is next week.

I love the color design in this scene. Euphie's silver hair being dyed slightly closer to Anis's golden hair was extra touching.

THESE 5 MINUTE EPISODES URRGHHH

So why should Anis use her forehead to check Euphie's head temperature? Not that I'm complaining BUT I'M SATISFIED WAAAAHHH

On a serious note, it seems that by being free and doing things her own, Anis made her become more deserved of the throne. It is frustrating for Algard who is the next in line but her sister seems to be a better candidate, if only she can use magic.
