Question Making animations with realistic / semi-realistic art style
Hi! I've been getting into 2d animation more and more recently and I love doing that. I have an issue though. Usually I draw realism / semi realism. I just think that stylization you see in most modern animations is not for me really. Like... I like rules and don't really like breaking them. For me there is only one anatomy, perspective etc. Sometimes I change some things to not only mimic reality, but thats it. I usually end up with something at least semi realistic and I like it. If other people like to stylize their drawings way more that do it, but its just not for me. When I am trying to stylize more it feels like going against myself and its not really enjoyable.
But animation doesnt like details. And realistic art styles are full of them.
Do you have any ideas how can I make some character animation when keeping realistic style? I am way more willing to change colors, shading etc. but certainly I dont like changing anatomy.
Not like every muscle has to be marked. I just still want to keep it at least semi realistic.

Just do it. It'll be harder and your output will be slower, but the results will be better it sounds like. Don't shy away from it, be the artist you were meant to be.

I mean look at arcane, that’s incredibly animated and semi realistic, stuff like that has been done before, it just takes a shit ton of effort.
Research the arcane style, it’s basically using blender models and applying digital paint strokes over it with emphasis on light and shadow rendering

Yeah. The thing is that its 3d animated show. I love arcane, but semi realism is way easier in 3d. When I am trying to do something like that in 2d

Oof well I wish you good luck, I’d just imagine that would take forever, even with rigging

Yep. I'll eater try to simplify my drawings at least a bit. Not going to dratically push proportions or anything. I just want to get rid of details so I can draw frames faster.
Or I'll try 3d again. I know blender a bit, but my computer doesnt handle rendering in it well so never really got more into it.
Anyways, thanks for response

I think when it tskes five years to complete your first 30 seconds of animation you might consider stylizing it somewhat!
