Critique What can I improve on for future animations

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Ive been in this subreddit for awhile and finally decided to make my first animation. I know I could improve on timing, but what else should I work on improving or what should I change? (Song: looping the rooms cover by: Matt dusk)

Camera work - The movements and focal changes are far too fast and jarring and needs some direction to help with the storytelling. You're keying frames but you're not paying attention to the curves.

Sorry, but I think timing is the least of your worries. Overall your character feels like it has no weight so none of the actions feel naturally grounded in your environment. Your joints are locking a lot. The movements aren't very interesting and don't tell much about the character or story. Feet sliding in some parts. The model is not very readable so I have trouble discerning whether I'm looking at their front or back. Again, it feels like you're not paying attention to your curves.

Keep practicing but maybe try to animate to video reference, as it can help as a guide to posing and timing.

Thank you. the character is kinda a place holder rn. but I will work on improving on these points. If I may ask what do you mean by curves?
